I am so behind sharing photos, these are images from our trip to Chincoteague back in the beginning of May. It was our 25th wedding anniversary on May 4th and we took this short getaway to Chincoteague Island Virginia. It is one of my favorite places, behind Hawaii which was where we went on our honeymoon. Chincoteague has it all the beach, the birds, wild horses and awesome sunrises and sunsets. I have some fence shots to share for Tex's Good Fences and I have some sunset and moon shots.
A few of the birds of Chincoteague on the top row: Great Egrets with shorebirds, Cormorants with terns, Snowy Egret. Middle Row is the Tri-colored Heron, Black-bellied Plover and a Willet. Bottom row is the Eaglets on nest, Barn Swallow and a Short-billed Dowitcher.

Same newborn that is seen above with the Mom. It is so cute!!!!
Another newborn laying on the ground with Momma standing nearby.
There is nothing like having the beach almost to ourselves, it was a beautiful day.
The beach dunes are roped off for the nesting Oystercatchers and the Piping Plovers.
At Chincoteague the sun was setting over Tom's Cove, a pretty reflection.
We missed the moon coming out of the ocean, but the time we turned around from our sunset view the moon was already up.
My colorful moon. At the same time the sun was setting the moon was rising over the ocean. It was neat to look one way for the moon rising and to turn around and see the sun setting. Both were gorgeous scenes. I have more to share from our trip on another post. I hope you enjoyed our visit to Chincoteague Island, if you are ever in the area I highly recommend a visit..

That last moon shot is gorgeous--love the color.
I am completely in awe with your images in this post. The intense red colors of the sunset, but next to it the pastel tones of the dusk. Wonderful images, colors, scenes and landscapes.

Haven't been back since I was last attacked there by mosquitoes the size of B1 bombers. :-)
Newborn ponies are always such a delight and somehow less distressing on a farm knowing they are free to roam without being part of the food chain.
oh, i just love the newborn horse, so cute!! what a sweetheart. love the sun shot too. what a gorgeous moment to capture. we have been to this park gosh, many yrs ago. Happy Anniversary!! what a great place to take take to enjoy your yrs together. so cool!! keep celebrating. that's a big one. we will celebrate 12 this November. ( :

I am memorized by this moon, is it a strawberry moon? It seems I heard on our local news that that is what they were calling it-it was cloudy here, so I never was able to see it.
Of course these babies are too wonderful!

How lovely Eileen, super post!!! Loved the sweet little foal. We loved our visit to Chincoteague in 2010 -- a highlight of that trip ... and really any of our RV travels. So beautiful. Wonderful pictures all, but the almost newborn cold is my absolute favorite. Love this post.
We could use that Birds Only sign at lots of places around here Eileen. I'm not sure how many folk would honour it though.
The wild ponies are just gorgeous and so is the beach. Such a nice opening collage showing the great variety of birds you met at Chincoteague. The Catle Egret looks so tiny next to those ponies, but I know their size is deceiving until you see them feeding amongst cattle or horses, sometimes hitching a ride.
