Around the yard

I am linking up with Skywatch Friday  and Good Fences
I hope you can join in on the fun and share your fence scenes and pretty skies.

To break up my trip photos I am sharing some photos from our local walk to the lake and some birds and scenes from my yard and neighborhood. These images were taken back in September. On this day we walked to the lake in front of our place and passed by my neighbor's turkeys. The turkeys are raised and sold, I assume for Thanksgiving dinners.

This is a view of the turkeys from the fireroad. And on this day there was a turkey on the wrong side of the fence.

A cute fence scene...I was thinking your free, your free!  Run turkey... run and hide.

It was a pretty day for our walk to the lake, lovely sky, pretty berries seen along the fireroad and a cute chickadee.

The lake, clouds reflecting and some shadows from the trees.

Beside the usual GB heron at the lake we have been seeing some Double-crested Cormorants.

Another fence scene, I always enjoy seeing my neighbors horses. The two little ones are growing fast.

Hubby's sunset shot at the lake, if you look closely you can see a sundog reflection on the lake.

The sunset from the yard, a pretty pink sky.

My moon series taken on Sept 23rd.

I hope you enjoyed my photos from around the yard and neighborhood.  Thanks for stopping by for a visit and for your nice comments. Have a happy day and weekend ahead.

To see more pretty skies from around the world please visit  Skywatch Friday
and check for more fence shots at Tex's Good Fences

Thanks to Theresa @ The Run*A*Round Ranch for hosting Good Fences and thanks to Sylvia, Yogi  and Sandy for hosting Skywatch Friday.    I wish everyone a happy day and weekend ahead..

You captured some wonderful photos from your walk. Looks like the turkey don’t want to escape rather get back together, let whatever happen. Love the lake images, so pleasant and peaceful! Great reflections.

Good morning Eileen, thanks for taking us with you your walk around your place and neighborhood. Your neighbor's turkey farm is lovely, they make me smile, of course that's not thinking about Thanksgiving dinner! Beautiful captures throughout. I'm thinking we're going to skip turkey this year, as Minnesota has been dealing with the bird flu epidemic! Thinking, ham!

Hello Eileen!:) That is a lovely fence scene with the horses, and the serene lake photos are beautiful. I am always in awe of your moon shots, but the turkey on the wrong side of the fence made me smile, as did your comment. I really hope he got away!:))

Beautiful photos as usual. That turkey seemed confused, not knowing what to do with his freedom. : )

It's amazing how many interesting fences are around when you stop and take notice! Lovely photos! My favorite fences are hedgerows...natural :)

Karen said...

I like the anxious turkeys and beautiful horses, but I'm especially amazed by the great shots of the moon!

I once had to write a paper about Thanksgiving...in high school English/literature. I wrote it as if I were the turkey and every time I see turkeys and think of Thanksgiving, I remember it. My teacher liked it so well, she read it aloud.

Love your other shots...always interesting. Great moon shots, too.

Ah a "Turkey Escapee" - Smart fellow. Those white turkeys are so different from the wild ones we see around here.
Some pretty scenes here, The horses in the fenced field look so peaceful. What a lovely lake & pretty pink clouds.

Love the view of the lake.
Funny story: Years ago bob raised some Turkeys for Thanksgiving. He bought poults in April and by November the turkeys were huge. He got one ready for the oven and it was so huge it wouldn't fit in the oven. Laughter all around. haha
To this day he doesn't care for Turkey.

This is the first time I've seen that many live turkeys. Do you happen to have any idea on how much they sell one for? I love the relaxing views you have there. :)

I really like that mesh type fencing around the turkeys. Especially the second image. Love that long shot of the reflections, blue sky and shadow in the 4th shot. Wonderful horses shot, the sunset is gorgeous as well as the sunset. You do get incredible moon shots. An all round great post as usual.

I loved the turkey photos!

The fourth photo down is breathtaking. For some reason those turkeys don't fit the image I had in my head of what turkeys are supposed to look like. I guess I thought they had more colour and more feathers.

Beautiful sky shots, Eileen. It is hard to pick a favourite but I think I like the one with the pink clouds that look like a starburst. Have a great weekend!

Marit said...

Beautiful sunsets, and the lake was very peaceful!

Have a nice weekend!

Phil Slade said...

Fantastic moon, lake and sunset shots Eileen. Like you I was thinking that turkey should be making a run for it rather than worrying how to get back to the other side of the fence.

Have a great weekend.

Jan K. alias Afanja said...

What a funny shot of the turkey at the wrong side of the fence.
The photos with the reflections are wonderful.
Thanks for sharing the beauty and enjoy your weekend!

Jenn Jilks said...

I love them all, but the lake looking like glass...

I wonder about breaking up trip photos. Like the wedding we attended, but then I post them all for hubby. I found out, in a bit of a mess of hostility around our recent election, that hubby doesn't read my blog anyway. His friend has been terribly negative and hubby, having cancer, is trying to only surround himself with postivies. He just looks at the photos. It's a hard call.

Hello, Eileen!
I'm sorry for the turkeys, but at least those of your neighbour can stay outdoors in more natural conditions. We don't by turkey meat, because here they are not grown in humane and healthful conditions.
Gorgeous bird photos (chickadees are always my favourites) and sunsets and moon shots!
Have a lovely weekend and a happy Halloween!
