I am sharing some of my yardbirds and some Autumn trees and lakes scenes from our walks in our neighborhood. I do not have to go far to see the beautiful birds and pretty scenery it is just outside our door.

Above are some of my yardbirds seen in the month of October. First row: Ruby Crowned Kinglet, White-throated sparrow and the Chipping Sparrow. Second row: Dark-eyed Junco, Pine Siskin on thistle sock, another Pine Siskin. Bottom Row: White-breasted Nuthatch, Downy Woodpecker, a stunned White-breasted Nuthatch that flew into my kitchen window.
The sweet Dark-eyed Junco, known as snow birds arriving in the winter months.
I love to the hear the White-throated Sparrow's song usually early in the morning or late in the day..
Hubby and I often take walks on the fireroad in our neighborhood and walks to our lake. The fall trees were gorgeous this year, so many pretty colors.

i am loving all the fall leaves. i love this time of the year. i know we have to have all season but i think i could deal with fall. i would not want the time change all the time but i guess i could deal. maybe?? i just love the clothing. & enjoy all this amazing-ness. very cool. ( :

Had the chance of a lifetime yesterday when a chickadee flew into the window and dazed itself. It was sitting on the deck, feathers sticking out every which way but the little eyes were blinking so I picked it up.
Smoothing the feathers in place and talking to it softly, it stayed in the palm of my hand for about 5 minutes before taking off. My camera, phone - all inside the house out of reach darn it.

The reflections in your last picture are heavenly. What a gorgeous fall you have shared with us. And I see you shared with us my favorite little Downy. I adore them, and they really love my big maple tree with its food i put out for them in winter.

Now, that is what I call an awesome neighborhood walk. My husband is always saying we have to walk more. I will have no problems doing it with scenes like this.

I got a pic of a Golden-crowned Kinglet once here in January, maybe one or more will make an appearance again this winter.

You have a beautiful assortment of birds in your yard, Eileen! We have a nice group of birds in the summer. But in the winter months we pretty much just have sparrows and juncos. At the state park today though I saw a lot of geese, a cardinal, and, I think, a nuthatch. The lake was full of geese and was very beautiful with the colors of sunset--but I wasn't able to get any pictures.

Beautiful fall colors! Great collection of birds. I used to always call the juncos snow birds (like my mom did), but everyone seemed not to know what I was talking about. Glad to hear someone else use that term for them.
