Hubby and I visited the Delaware Water Gap and East Stroudsburg Pa on June 27-29. We saw a lot of waterfalls and I found some birds along the way.
I took this shot of the Baltimore Oriole while sitting in my car, I had to zoom to the tree tops way across the Bushkill Falls parking lot.
Below is the Wood Thrush seen off the trail at Bushkill Falls.
This Cedar Waxwing was seen at the Resica Falls.
Great Blue Heron in a dried up lake.
Louisiana Waterthrush at Dingmans Falls
A large group of Mallard Ducks seen off the road.
More Mallards, I have never seen so many Mallards together.
A Gray Catbird from our walk on the McDade Trail at the Delaware Watergap.
Also on the McDade Trail a Song Sparrow.
Another bird on the McDade Trail the Brown Thrasher almost hidden in the grass.
I know these are not the greatest photos but I wanted to record the birds I saw while visiting Stroudsburg Pa and the Delaware Water Gap. I will show some of the waterfalls on another post.

Yea, those are wonderful photos. Interesting subjects, all of them. For years people kept telling me "there's no such thing as a Baltimore Oriole, it's a baseball team." I just ignored them. Then finally one day my husband said, "hey, you've been right all along it is Baltimore Oriole." Thank you very much! I think they are beautiful birds and tried to get some here by putting out oranges but it didn't work. Other people get them in their yards but not me. Maybe someday.

love that first shot. the thing is I noticed all those green cones before I saw the bird and I would have been focusing on the tree tops and not the bird... the bird is adorable perched up there surveying his kingdom. I love trees, all trees

Great bird photos. Love the cedar wax wing. We have planted a hawthorn with red berries, hoping to attract them here. They do come to our area, we just have to get them stop by.
So many good birds. Some kinds I haven't seen before. I always like seeing animals.

Great shot of the Cedar Waxwing. I've only seen them once come through here about 5 years ago! What a show they put on in my back yard! It was after a rain, and they spent a lot of time flying through the Mulberry tree and on the ground, looking for worms, I guess. I tried to get some photos, but all were out of focus! I continue to watch for them. Maybe I'll try a video next time. A very pretty picture of the Baltimore Oriole...do you know what kind of tree he is perched on? I enjoyed your post, Eileen. They are superb photos, and what a zoom to show the Oriole . And the long cones on a ??type of pine or conifer tree? they are so different to what I see down here. My pick, the song sparrow.

That's a lot of Mallards..We are not far from the Delaware Water Gap..I don't think I've ever seen a Baltimore Oriole..The rest of them are pretty common around here..enjoyed the pictures..

Hi Eileen, Earlier today I was reminded of your blog when I was sitting outside on our deck. A little bird landed nearby and I knew you would be able to identify it. I think it was a red bellied woodpecker but not sure. Sadly, I didn’t have the camera in hand. If I had been able to capture a photo it would have given me a neat post to link up with Saturday’s Critters! Now, knowing you enjoy the Pacific Northwest, here is a little update on things: Seattle is on its way to the longest stretch of days without rain on record. The current record is 51 days. Although there was some drizzle a few days ago, there wasn’t enough at SEATAC (the airport and official spot for weather records) to qualify as “a trace of rain” so we are still on for breaking the record. Through August 4 (yesterday), the airport has logged 48 straight days without measurable rain—a tie with the second-longest stretch on record. The all-time mark of 51 days, set between July 7 and August 26, 1951, is almost certain to be surpassed on Tuesday, August 8. You may know the old weather saying, “extremes bring extremes.” It may certainly be true as we had the wettest October through April this past winter/spring. I will keep you posted if we break the record! :-) Hope you have a happy weekend and a great week ahead. Oh yes, one more thing … I sure enjoyed all your photos in this edition of Saturday’s Critters!

Oh tha's a lot of birds! I pity my nephew's oriole chick which he saved from the crow which kidnapped it. It fell on the ground and Allen took it home. He put betadine on the wound, and feed it often just like the mother oriole. It was already eating papaya and banana. Then suddenly it after a few days it died. Apparently, there is deep wound and maybe it got infected. We were so sad! It is so beautiful.

Of course I LOVE colorful birds like which I can find here like Baltimore Oriole・Resica Falls and other with the chic color ones. But I was impressed by the Gray Catbird; really has a unique color♡♡♡
