Happy Thursday, enjoy your day!
I am sharing another visit to our local Hashawha Nature Center, hubby and I often enjoy our walks on their various trails. These images are from Sept 15th. The Green Heron perched on a wire above the Hashawha Lake.
The sky was a pretty blue, some white puffy clouds around.
A pretty flower, I believe the insect is a skipper.
"Each flower is a soul blossoming out to nature." Nerval
A view of the sky and Lake Hashawha.
Below are two Sulfur butterflies, not sure exactly which ones. They are several Sulfur species. There is the Orange Sulfur, the Clouded/Common Sulfur, Clouded Yellow, Pale Clouded Yellow.
My guess and it is only a guess this is the Common Sulfur. Let me know what you think?
The flowers were beautiful near the lake.
I think these are Asters, they are a pretty pink.
For Tom's Barn Collective, we pass by several barns on the way to the nature center. This barn has a pretty quilt.
This one street has lots of farm and barns, I like this big yellow barn.
Some fall colors along the road.
Another barn and farm scene a little further down the road to the nature center. Sorry the willow trees are blocking this barn.
I am thankful for the time to enjoy the flowers, birds and our walks.
I am always thankful for your visits and your comments.
Thank you Michelle for hosting. Thankful Thursday

ReplyDeleteGood Morning. These are such pretty pictures. It's hard to choose a favorite. I do love the barn with the quilt. Have a lovely day.
ReplyDeleteHello Eileen, this a beautiful area. So much to enjoy from the herons to the butterflies and flowers.
ReplyDeleteI love the big yellow barn too.
Hope you have a lovely day!
It seems I cannot get enough of those Green Herons, although the big Blues are so attractive. I also like that yellow barn..unique...:)JP
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteNice post and beautiful photos! I love the pretty asters and the yellow butterfly.
Happy Thursday!
Don’t you just love autumn!! Less heat and humidity and such gorgeous colors. My guess is Cloudless Sulphur. Hope you have a good weekend. I will be fairly near you this weekend as we will be visiting our daughter in D.C.
ReplyDeleteyour flowers are so real i tried to pick one. LOL... just love the skipper on the yellow flowers. yellow is my favorite color for flowers. these are all fantastic
ReplyDeleteI feel like I've been on a walk with you. All your photo's are so good. I love old barns and nature. Thanks for sharing them.
ReplyDeleteWell, if the other autumn colors don't show up we can always count on the Sumac to give us a good showing. It is abundant most everywhere around here and maybe it's out to take over the world. Looks like a lovely walk.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your awesome photos. I wish you a beautiful day.
Aw, so many lovelies. Best part, that beautiful day.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful scenes and things to be thankful for. I just love nature. Have a nice day, Nadja
ReplyDeleteI would enjoy a walk at Hashawha Nature Cente as well. It is a very pretty place. We have an Audubon center nearby. It would be akin to your nature center. It has been a while since we walked the trails there. Someday soon we should walk there.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful place for photos. I love seeing both types of herons and the leaves are so pretty.
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen, what a beautiful post. The skipper insect is interesting. As always your butterflies and wildflowers are pretty. And I love the Great Heron walking on the lily pads. Thanks for sharing. Jo
ReplyDeleteDearest Eileen, this looks like a great place to wander, explore and enjoy. Your photos are beautiful, I really appreciate you sharing them. I hope you are having a great week. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful place! Wonderful photos! Thank you Eileen.
ReplyDeleteLots of great heron sightings! Love your photo of the butterfly on the yellow flower.
ReplyDeleteThe sky and trees frame the lake beautifully, then to spot the Heron walking in the lily pads! Wild flowers can be beautiful most of the time, and you captured some very nice ones. Have a very good day, Eileen.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos, so bright and sunny, Autumn here can be wonderful when the sun is shining, but been rather dull and wet of late. lovely to see the Herons.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful fall color! Beautiful flowers! And I love the quilt barn. Nice post!
ReplyDeleteI like that big yellow barn too! Barns there are so often cantilevered, whereas here we seldom see a barn like that. I like it!
ReplyDeleteWhat handsome birds. (You know I am a sucker for herons!). And glorious flowers. Never heard of a skipper. Beautiful territory here, Eileen!
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty post for the day, Eileen!
ReplyDeleteAmazing how different the blue and green herons are. There are supposed to be blue herons in a nearby park but I've never seen them. It's cheery to see a bar quilt, isn't it? Nice fall color find. There was a bunch of or I guess kaleidoscope of butterflies around a display of Asters at the Shopko last week. Someone was taking pictures and I didn't have my camera but it was very cool to see. She told me what kind they were but I already forgot.
ReplyDeleteyour shots are healers, Eileen! [nice to see clear skies!]
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots! I love the quilt barn and the yellow one is huge! I enjoy catching a ride through your camera lens when y'all go on walks. I'm ready for the cooler weather so Mark and I can get out.
ReplyDeleteHerons are always a delight to see.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos but I think the last one is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteA happy day to you.
Oh the Green Heron, isn't it beautiful. And the pictures of nature, precious Eileen.
ReplyDeletebeautiful captures for me today, especially those pretty blue skies. it is cloudy and drizzly here.
ReplyDeletegorgeous barns, especially the quilt barn!!
Beautiful series of photos ..Love the Herons and the barns..The last picture is frameable if you crop out the street..Hope you had a pleasant Thursday..
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful place, Eileen! Love the herons - they always look so intelligent to me. Wonderful images and barns today. Hope your week is lovely. xx Karen

ReplyDeleteA ShutterBug Explores ~ aka (A Creative Harbor)
Gorgeous captures as always!
ReplyDeletePretty sky over the lake
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen,
ReplyDeleteI loved looking at your photos. I have managed a fairly nice photo of a blue heron here...such interesting birds. Just for fun I tried to identify your yellow sunflower like flower...closest I could find was brittlebush. But doesn't matter it is lovely and such a treat in the wild. The other is definitely what I call aster and they are wonderful in the fall. I find we have very similar wild flowers though I am many miles away from you in Ontario, Canada.
Lovely photos from the nature centre and barns and farms on the way! Liked the red barn and light on yellow flower
ReplyDeleteNice to be reacquainted with Mr. Green Heron. He came to visit in my local park one day and I was lucky to snap a shot of him. WE don't get to see them much around my neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteWorth a Thousand Words
Very enjoyable, thank you Eileen. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteNice post with a good collection of pics. Love seeing the green heron since I haven't seen one in person. I always enjoy seeing the blue heron and this one is interesting walking in the lily pads. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteLove, love, LOVE this beautiful adventure. And I like the name of the lake area...Native American?
ReplyDeleteAnyway, the birds, the butterflies, the lake reflections...all so very pretty Eileen.
In the morning when I go to walk, every time i see a heron, which alway makes me remember you...:)
ReplyDeleteHerons are such interesting looking birds! Love your flower photos too. Have a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteLove that quilt barn and the beautiful scenery.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed everyone of these photo's, what a brilliant selection.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
All the best Jan
the blue sky is a great backdrop for the heron :)
ReplyDeleteSeptember looks like a great month :)
looks like alovely place for a walk
ReplyDeleteI find it always exciting to find a barn quilt!
ReplyDeleteGood barn pics and one with a quilt pattern. I love seeing quilt barns! Have a great Sunday.
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw the title I looked so much to looking at the post and your pictures. My wife's home was just a few miles away on Stone Rd. When we still had family there, I visited Hashawha regularly. I was greatly disappointed this morning to open it and find most the photos blank [I could only see the 1st, 3rd and 11th].
ReplyDeleteIt is a wonderful place, in an area where there is very little accessible land for walking, birding, etc.
I can see the images now. Reminds me of home.
ReplyDeleteOh my what a sight for sore eyes! A beautiful place and that quilt on the barn is great! Love your critters here too. Enjoy your day Eileen!
