Happy Thankful Thursday, enjoy your day!
EDIT: I am linking up with Favorite Fotos thanks to Lydia at Where the Wild Things Were
It was time to leave the Quiluete Resort and head south toward Ocean Shores Washington. We made a few stops along the way, some overlooks to see the Pacific Ocean and lots of Surf Scoters way out there. Also the scenic drive to the Quinalt Waterfalls, these falls are seen right from the road.
This beach was seen from one of the overlooks. The photos do look nicer if you click on them for a larger image.
All those black tiny dots on the top left are the Scoters and maybe a few other ocean seabirds and ducks. The sky was somewhat cloudy but at least it was not raining. I linked up some of my Scoter link photos, so you can see up close what they look like.
Merriman Falls, Quinalt Rainforest
Below is the Bunch Creek Falls, Quinalt Rainforest. Half way up the waterfalls is a man climbing around he spooked a couple of Dippers that were next to the water.
A view of the river and Olympic Mountains. I saw a Dipper in the river, but just when I snapped the photo, the bird dipped into the water.
World's largest Spruce tree, Quinalt Rainforest. The old growth forest in the Pacific Northwest are awesome.
These scenes below are from our walk on the Quinalt Rainforest Nature loop trail which was .09 miles. Best bird seen was the Pileated Woodpecker.
I am thankful for all things nature related, like the old growth forest, beautiful views of the mountains, oceans and rivers.
I am always thankful for your visits and your comments.
Thank you Michelle for hosting. Thankful Thursday

Hello,
Wonderful forest! I love your last photo very much with the beautiful trillium.
Happy Thursday!
What a beautiful area!! I love waterfalls and can almost hear the sounds of the tumbling water. Good photo of the pleated woodpecker too. I know you had a lovely day while there and hope you have a wonderful day today too.

There is something about North West Coasts of just about anywhere which attracts the overcast and dampish!!! It does give atmosphere to such primeval places though! YAM xx
Que maravilha e aquela árvore é imponente.
Um abraço e continuação de boa semana.

Hello Chica, thanks so much for the visit and comment.
Happy Thursday, enjoy your day!
...rain equals green.
Great scenic shots; I can only imagine the beauty in real time. Somehow landscape shots never seem to do justice to the real thing - at least when I take them anyway!
Great pics and post.
Greetings.
This is fascinating. I have always heard how beautiful the northwest is. My Dad was stationed there in WWII for a while. He said Washington state, and Austria were the prettiest places he saw. Your photos are wonderful, Eileen. Have a nice day.
Hello, I agree the photos do not do justice to the real thing. The Pacific Northwest is a beautiful area to visit. Thanks for your comment and visit. Happy Thursday, enjoy your day!
Hello Tom, yes that is why this area is so green. All that rain! Happy Thursday, enjoy your day!

I could spend hours sitting and staring out at that Inlet what a beautiful place. And that big tree is absolutely amazing
The Pacific Northwest is such a beautiful area. You got some wonderful photos (I'll bet you took hundreds!). Love the ancient spruce and those waterfalls. I looked up a dipper as I'm unfamiliar with them ... what a cute little bird!

Hello Eileen. Those are serene ocean views on a cloudy day, so pretty!
Amazing to see those old trees standing tall and that was a lovely rainforest trail walk.
Have a great day!
Thanks, Sandra! It was a beautiful place to visit. Have a happy day!
So pretty. I love the waterfalls. That's pretty cool those spruce trees are so old.

Hello Christine, I love the ocean views even on the cloudy days. Thanks so much for your comment.
Have a happy day!
I had never heard of Surf Scoters so I looked them up and watched a few videos of them on Youtube. They're so interesting and odd-looking, too.
Thank you for another fabulous post!
Hello, the trees out west are huge. We loved seeing them and the waterfalls. Thanks for the comment.
Have a happy day!
Lovely photos Eileen. Your first one is incredibly nice, it does remind me (probably just me) and the fact that our weathermen keep pushing this horrible idea that snow is on it's way, but that photo reminds me of the feeling of a storm is brewing! No, don't want it. There should be a law against any snow falling before Halloween!
Beautiful! Have a wonderful day!
Ηello Eileen! What a lovely place to visit!
Love the scenery and the forest with the water fall and the beautiful trees!
Gorgeous pictures!Have a lovely day!
Dimi...

EIleen
Hi Debbie,
Thank so much, I am glad you liked the photos. I love those woodpeckers.
It is cooler and breezy today, the weather is changing.
Have a happy day!
Eileen
Beautiful shots of a gorgeous place. I hope that tree never gets cut down!
The falls is so beautiful.. I love to hike in those places where I can see falls at the end.. :)
Lovely area and your photos are beautiful Eileen! I especially like seeing the waterfalls.
Wow! The spruce tree is AWESOME! I would love to see that. Have a great day Eileen!
A 1000 year old tree! Wow, Eileen!
Hi Eileen! I did enlarge all your photos. They are fantastic. What a gorgeous part of the country this is.
I was up there a few decades ago, but never even heard about that amazing Spruce three. The things that tree has witnessed.
Really nice post Eileen.
1000 years old! It gives me hope that nature will persist despite our (unintentional) impact on the environment. What was happening in the world in 1017? Thanks for sharing all your lovely pix - also adore the beloved pileated!
The two waterfalls are an amazing sight!
Pretty scenes!
Spectacular, Eileen!
Ah beautiful. Love the Olympic Peninsula. You got some gorgeous shots.

Wonderful! That Dipper lived up to his name, LOL. I just love those mossy forests, like something out of Jurassic movies.
Beautiful area, Eileen! Love the peacefulness of it!
Lovely place very restful, 100 year old tree and waterfalls.
Merle.........
Hello Eileen, I don't know what it is about water ... but I always enjoy being near to it and seeing photographs of it.
Merriman Falls look great, so to do Bunch Creek Falls and the river.
Loved your mosaics too.
Enjoy the rest of your week.
All the best Jan
There's something about water, be it the coastline or a waterfall, that is so peaceful.
The Trillium is beautiful! I love this flower and enjoy seeing on our farm as well as other areas. Thank you for sharing these gorgeous photos today, and for linking up!
Lovely series of pictures..Love the waterfalls and the rain forest..Someday I'll find a waterfall to photograph...Beautiful area..
Beautiful scenery. I love the coastline.
Nature is therapeutic, isn't it?
Worth a Thousand Words
I continue to enjoy seeing your photos from your time in Washington State. Amazing scenery.
It is beautiful scenery, all super photos! I love the waterfalls and the World's Largest Spruce Tree must have been an amazing sight. Super collage too and I liked the Trillium and is that a Pileated Woodpecker? Real pretty! Thanks for sharing Eileen and happy weekend to you :)
I would LOVE to see this rain forest some time, Eileen. Hopefully I will. You took some beautiful photos!
Great photos, my friend.
That spruce tree is pretty cool! Love the foggy ocean shots.
Love the beaches and rainforest in Olympic Nat park!
Absolutely gorgeous photos. We went on a vacation to Seattle a few years ago. We didn't make it to this area but the PNW is blessed with lots and lots of wild country and there seems to be a belief among the residents that it needs to be preserved which is wonderful.
Amazing spruce!
I am thankful for things nature related too.
Happy weekend!
Wow, such beautiful and scenic country Eileen! I love that grand old Spruce tree too. A great post, thanks so much! xx
Beautiful places. Love the beach seen from high ground.
It reminded me of a trip to New Zeeland many years ago. We walked a rainy day, through the rainforest. To see a waterfall. Never forgot it, too much rain/water but fun :)
Wonderful photos, Eileen! Everything looks so wild and beautiful. The old tree is truly awesome. I hope you got to hear the pileated's call. It's amazing. xx
Certainly is beautiful country. Fantastic photos! Awesome old tree!
This looks like a wonderful holiday, Eileen. How I love those moody shorescapes.
Not familiar with this beach! One day I want to go back and hike in the Olympic National forest. Have a great weekend!
Not too long ago I found some old photos of when I'd visited my oldest son out in Seattle when he was working at Microsoft. There was a photo of him posed in front of one of those large trees / your photo reminded me of that time in that forest, which was amazing.
I love that first shot of the beach. I am finally making my rounds to visit the blogs I used to follow. Yours being one of them. I have a new blog. Click my name to find it.
very beautiful place!
