I love seeing birds from other parts of the world. Birds are so 'part of the environment' in any place and often one of the first differences I notice when I arrive. It is like they are familiar companions that once not familiar make it extremely obvious that I'm not in a familiar environment.

These photos are gorgeous. They have lovely colour balance and the compositions just work really well. Lovely work.

My favourites are the ducks, the thrush, flickers and the herons. The colours just work really well.

Thank you for hosting the blog party!

Best wishes,
Liz

Hi Eileen, lovely photos of these precious ones. I would have like to have seen that one banging the fish on the tree (not that I'm into violence) but how these little ones live is amazing.

A great catch on capturing the Belted Kingfisher with his catch! I hope he enjoyed his feast, he worked hard for it! I like how you have invited all kinds of critters, real or pretend, and statues and paintings to your Saturday's Critters post. I will have to see what I might have to contribute for next time. You always have great bird pictures. This week I had three bird visitors. The first was a male Merganser, followed by two gorgeous Trumpeter Swans. I didn't get any pictures though. They were too far away on a rainy day. But I did capture a Song Sparrow that just arrived using my critter cam. The shots made an interesting "video" of his antics. - Margy

Sometimes animals look as though they have personalities similar to humans. Have you ever seen the BBC videos where people do voice-overs to videos of animals? It's very funny.

Well, getting there early means "the early bird catches..." the best pictures! :-) I love the Kingfisher. A rare sight for me, so I always look for them. Your post and the flickers also remind me I need to get my feeders up.
