Welcome to Saturday's Critters!
If you love critters like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!
Some of my Sunset Beach, North Carolina birds and a gator near the golf course. They are not the best photos, on this day we had some clouds and the birds were all a good distance away. :(
White Ibis and a Great Blue Heron
White Ibis on the golf course.
An alligator in the golf course pond. For those who did not know, yes there are alligators in North Carolina. We saw a few at this spot near a golf course.
I think this is the same gator as above, on this day he was enjoying the sunshine.
A Great Blue Heron and Great Heron, some crows in the background. They were all hanging out at a golf course.
An Osprey was seen in this same tree on a few different days.
For the birders out there, there are a few Black Crowned Night Herons in the photo below, can you find them? How many do you see, I must admit a few are hidden in the leaves. Click on the photo for larger viewing. My version of where's Waldo?
I appreciate and thank everyone who links up their post and for all the wonderful comments! I hope you enjoy my post and photos too!

Hi Eileen! The Great Blue Heron looks like it has a beard! I worry for the golfers playing in the golf course with the alligator in the pond! Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteNice shots! Hope that alligator was at some distance!
ReplyDeletewhite ibis like ths kind ow lawns. But alligatos? Not a great place for alligators I would think,
ReplyDeleteAlligators - how dangerous at the golf course!:(

ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteWonderful post and photos! I love all the birds, and the are so pretty. I have seen this golf course on tv. We love to watch golf, and I have seen the aligathors there too. I had been terrifyed :)
Happy Weekend!
Brilliant photos of the Ibis and Herons, Eileen!
ReplyDeleteI am sure you were thankful not to have to play golf near that huge 'gator!
Great shots!
Thanks for hosting!
Lovely footage, Eileen!
ReplyDeleteThe pleasure I would have there!!!
The gator is fabulous, I hope it is not dangerous and lives in harmony in this environment.
Warm hugs and enjoy your weekend :)
Love seeing the birds! Always surprised to see Great Blue Herons perched in trees. I would not want to be anywhere near the alligator.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week-end!
...I could do without the gators!
ReplyDeleteLovely shots, Eileen. I especially like that heron in the first photo.
ReplyDeleteFotografias fantásticas.
ReplyDeleteUm bom fim-de-semana.

ReplyDeleteI counted three - and that's a busy golf course! Happy weekend. YAM xx
How majestic the alligator...what a tail!
ReplyDeleteHave a happy weekend, Eileen!
Your golf course has a lot more exotica than our own ones Eileen. I rarely go near golf courses as I don't trust the golfers not to hit me with their wayward shots. Imagine seeing alligators on a golf course! I'll bet there are lots of golf balls in that water unless there are very foolish golfers.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link up today and enjoy your week ahead.
And thank you for hosting, Eileen.
ReplyDeleteHello Eileen!!
ReplyDeleteGreat post!
Excellent photos of the Great Blue Heron and the alligator too!
And the white ibis are very beautiful birds too!
I really enjoyed all your wonderful pictures!
Have a happy weekend!
Dimi...
Hi Eileen, I love seeing gators/crocs basking in the sun. Thanks for hosting this meme. Have a great day. Jo

I just love great blue herons. 'Where's Waldo'---fun stuff. Happy day.
ReplyDeleteGreat nature shots.
ReplyDeleteThe heron in the tree, that is amazing. I love it.
ReplyDeleteLove the beard on that Great Blue Heron. Those birds are brave to hang out on a golf course. Have a great Saturday, Eileen!
ReplyDeletethanks E!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't help notice that the Ibis' chin or chest feathers resembled the long pine needles. A sort of camo effect. LOL
ReplyDeleteIt would be so interesting to see a gator. From a distance. LOl
ReplyDelete3? I saw three grey birds! LOL
ReplyDeleteI don't miss much about Florida, but I will miss alligators. I always loved watching them and there were a LOT in the Orlando area. In Jacksonville, I only ever saw one.
Very nice photos despite the conditions. I think I may have found three night-herons, or at least the suggestion of second and third among the leaves at right and left margins of the picture.
ReplyDeletethese are awesome eileen!! love, love, love the first one!!!!!
ReplyDeleteCan't find Linkey!
ReplyDeleteGreat blue herons are an impressive bird. We only see them for a while during the breeding season.
ReplyDeleteWonderful critters
ReplyDeletegators do love sunshine. I did not know they lived in NC . we visited okefanokeee swamp in GA when my boys were small, about 40 years ago and there were gators in the sun on every path, never seen so many
ReplyDeleteA nice collection. We have bears and mountain lions where I hike, but that alligator looks far scarier to me!
ReplyDeleteI can never get tired of herons! Wonderful birds.
ReplyDeleteLove that first shot of the Heron---don't love the Gator. LOL
ReplyDeleteHave a super weekend and all next week too
MB
I see the birds are not bothered by the golfers.
ReplyDeleteGators are pretty scary creatures. So prehistoric. - Margy
ReplyDeleteLove that first shot of the heron.
ReplyDeleteDon't think I'd like to come across that alligator!!
The thought of the aligator in the pond kind of creeps me out! But the birds are fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI love that 1st Heron pic! It is wonderful, Eileen!
ReplyDeleteFabulous photos Eileen, especially the first, superb.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I would liketoplay golf with gators so close! Thanks for hosting and have a wonderful weekend Eileen.
ReplyDeleteIt's cool to play golf and watch critters walking around... except for alligators ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you for hosting.
Wow, I'm in awe at seeing the alligator shots - that's incredible :D)
ReplyDeleteThe herons definitely make themselves at home don't they!
Happy Sunday Eileen xx
Gators on a golf course now that is something you don't see everyday.
ReplyDeleteMerle...........
I, too, love that first shot of the Great Blue Heron...always surprises me to see them in trees, too.
ReplyDeleteSo many birds you find to photograph!
ReplyDeleteLove your critters . . .
ReplyDeleteMost of them. . .
I don’t mind seeing the gators . . . in the water.
Walking the golf course, probably not!
Are you planning a winter in Florida again this year?
I lived in North Carolina in the early 90s, but never saw an alligator. Creepy! Love the herons!
ReplyDeleteI don't know that I'd feel so safe playing on a course with alligators. It would certainly be good motivation to get my aim straight ;-)
ReplyDeleteYou found some sociable birds!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pics.Greetins.
ReplyDeleteJohn's late parents lived in Venice, FL and it was always strange to visit their condo with golf course and see gators in the ponds!!!
ReplyDeleteThe first photo of the heron is amazing,
ReplyDeleteagain some awesome photos!!
ReplyDeleteLovin' all your images (ospreys are one of my favorites)...GREAT alligator sunning!
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking in with us birders at I'd Rather B Birdin' this weekend!
Oh my, I bet that alligator in the golf course pond surprised you. The Great Blue Heron is a spectacular bird, indeed.
ReplyDelete~Sheri
Not sure about that gater- he looks like he is completely at home! Your bird shots are awesome. Thanks for sharing and for hosting!
ReplyDeleteThe Ibis is magnificent, what a great shot! He looks huge, and the tree is a great prop! How funny, the alligator looks as though he's trying to be inconspicuous, then, out for a sunbath! Great pictures, I love them all. I think I saw three night Herons, but I'm not sure.
ReplyDeleteHope you had a great Thanksgiving. We went to Kansas and had a great time with my family. Have a nice week, Eileen!
Dearest Eileen; Haha, I wish I could see the alligator even a once ;-) White Ibis in the golf course, Wow They must not be scared of humans(♡^.^♡) Herons number seems getting lower here inmy area which makes me a bit sad.
ReplyDeleteIt's been kind of busy and eventful for a long while. But I hope that I can get the normal pace back. Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness despite my absence, Dear friend.
Sending Lots of Love and Hugs from Japan to my Dear friend, xoxo Miyako*
Look at that alligator! I will be staying away from it :)
ReplyDeleteI really like the photo of the Osprey in the tree. Great birds (and gators) all around. Hope your week has been off to a wonderful start!
ReplyDeleteGreat heron shots Eileen and how wonderful to spot an Osprey! I wonder if the alligators eat the odd golf ball!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week :)
Wow, fabulous selection of photographs, especially the alligator!
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
