Hello,
Happy Thursday, I hope everyone has something to be thankful and or grateful for today!
I am Thankful, Grateful and Blessed for each day !
Hubby and I took a walk Mar 11th on the local fire road to the lake, I wanted to see if last year's Eagle nest was active.
Across the lake, I can just barely make out the white head of the Bald Eagle on the nest.
"I am most alive among the tall trees". unknown
Our local lake, Prettyboy Reservoir.
Not sure of these are two eagles, the bottom one is definitely a Bald Eagle I can make out the white head. Not sure about the top bird, could be a hawk that the eagle was chasing away from the nest? Or possibly a juvenile eagle from last year.
"Nature is not a place to visit, it is home." unknown
On the same morning, from our deck I watched 6 or more Great Blue Herons chasing each other and landing in different trees in the woods across from our house. I think each heron found their old nest from last year.
I am thankful that each spring these Great Blue Herons return to our neighborhood to nest.
I am thankful for nature, all good things are wild and free.
I am thankful to live so close to the lake, to enjoy the Herons and Eagles.
I am thankful for all your visits and comments.
Thank you Michelle for hosting Thankful Thursday.
Thank you to Yogi the host of Skywatch Friday

Our Bald Eagles are back on the nest too and it won't be long before the herons return to create life anew for another year.

Love that last photo especially!
Beautiful.
love those beautiful trees and my pic of the day is the heron behind the trees. i would have missed the eagle head if you had not pointed it out to us
It’s a gift to have herons or any other birds visiting your yards regularly on seasons and should be fun watching too. Great zooming on the eagle’s nest across the lake and beautiful presence of nature and woods!
How lovely. They have come home to nest! Have a great weekend!
What a wonderful day of bird sighting! Your old friends are back!
you always ground me. Happy Thursday
...wonderful images and sayings!
Another nice walk in Nature viewing great birds!
Hello,
I'm thankful for your reminder. It's a lot to be thankful and grateful for.
Beautiful images of the eagle and hawk.
Have a nice day!
Wonderful views!
We always have so much to be thankful for, we just have to take a moment to realize it. Thanks for linking up today.
Hi Eileen
I love the lakes, lovely and there was the Herons, flying above you.
A wonderful sight to see. Vieiwing Nature is always a pleasure, you even get some surprises. Thanks for sharing your beautiful photos, Eileen and have a wonderful day.
Eagle don't change white until 4-5 years.Maybe a baby from last year still. Love hearing you are so close to the rookery.
You are so very lucky to live that close to the lake! What a joy to see the eagle's nest and eagles. I think I have seen one or two eagles around here in the last few years.
I love your photos and the magical place you live in. So thankful for beautiful nature.
Hello Eileen
you show beautiful photos again and I am grateful for that. Thankful that we can and can enjoy nature and its flora and fauna. I am very worried about what there is in the nest between the trees :-)
Greetings, Helma
Beautiful early spring photos. I love visiting new places but I love going to places I am familiar with also so I can see what has changed, and what is staying the same.
Wonderful shots.
Great scenes.
Beautiful views!
Hope you are having a wonderful week!
I love what you said about nature....I talk about that all the time, to anyone who will listen! Love that you've found an eagles nest to check on! How exciting! We saw a Swallowtail Kite yesterday, that was unusual! Enjoy your afternoon!
It's great to live near a beautiful lake, where you can also see such wonderful birds as eagles. Herons are very dignified for me. Greettings and have a nice weekend.
Wonderful! What a great walk you live near and to see the eagles, an added joy.
That's pretty cool that the herons use the same nest for multiple years!
Beautiful scenes. I especially loved the white eagle head just showing out of the nest. How wonderful when the herons return to that spot. Lovely shots Eileen and thank you for sharing what you are grateful for xx
That would be so much fun to have the GBHs return to nest nearby...of course I would probably waste too much time watching them.
I love to see a heron in flight!
That is so beautiful, "Nature is not the to visit , it is home".. So beautiful, so true..
Hi Eileen
It is so uplifting and exciting to see majestic birds like eagles and hawks flying overhead. We saw a golden eagle the other day but he moved on before I could snap his photo.
so many things to be thankful for!! i can see the little spot of white on the eagles nest and the flight captures are so amazing!! you are so lucky to live so close to this fire road and lake...and to take full advantage of all of it's offerings!!
and you are lucky to have the herons nesting so close to home!!!
Amazing place. Beautiful photos.
Greetings.
I think according to the birds spring is here for them. Lovely images.
nice birding trip
Wonderful photos. Your lake is a lovely place to walk at.
Hi Eileen, I am thankful for your Thankful Thursday post. Sure enjoyed all the photos. Some of those taken by the lake remind me of Green Lake here in Seattle. I wonder if you have to drive from your home to the lake or can you walk there? I hope you have a happy weekend. Take care! John
Hi John, there are a few sections of the lake that we can walk to. But, sometimes we drive around the other side of the lake for our walks. Thanks for the comment and visit. Enjoy your weekend!
I'm still amazed you can enjoy those herons from your deck!
Beautiful sightings, Eileen!
