Welcome to Saturday's Critters !
If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!
Birds, turtles and gators, oh my! These are some images from our visit to the Green Cay Nature Center on Jan 9th. We saw lots of birds and critters.
We saw many beautiful Tricolored Herons.
The breeding Cattle Egret has the rusty color on it's head.
These turtles were covered with some muck, maybe the Florida Scoter or the Sliders?
You never know when a gator is around, they can blend in and hide in the vegetation.
A Green Heron is standing in the wetland plants.
Above the boardwalk, a hawk checking out the small bird and maybe lizards in the trees.
Walking back to the car we saw an Egret caught a lizard. You can see the lizard if you click on the photo for larger viewing.
I appreciate and thank everyone who links up their post and for all the wonderful comments !
Here is a list of my linky parties;
Also visit: I'd-Rather-B-Birdin. Thanks to the gracious host: Anni.
Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend!

Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend!
I tried to take pictures of some white egrets walking on the green grass but they quickly moved away from sight. They look exactly like the egret in the last picture. The gator is scary, probably waiting to snap its next prey. Have an enjoyable weekend!
ReplyDelete...Eileen, you sure found a great collection. Thanks for hosting, enjoy your weekend.
ReplyDeleteAwesome birds! Great post, thank you Eileen. Enjoy your weekend:)
ReplyDeleteI'd rather spy the turtles than the 'gator in the water! Lucky I know you have a great zoom!

Your Florida trip wax obviously very productive, Eileen, with many fond memories no doubt.
ReplyDeleteLooks indeed a wonderful trail to check birds and gator at their habitation! I ever seen gators in wild or at their natural states instead only in zoos and crocodile park here. Liked the egret standing tall with its hunted lizard…
ReplyDeletegorgeous photos today, all of them. we have egrets that come to our lizard buffet. I can see them out the living room window. they are so patient while stalking a lizard and dart their head out so quickly, we can't see it happen
ReplyDeleteSo nice pics.

Another wonderful collection, Eileen. Your photos are beautiful and thank you for sharing and hosting. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Eileen. I must say that the alligator is a bit scary the way it blends in motionless like that. The herons must have to be very adept at spotting the alligators waiting to pounce. Great pictures again. And thanks for the link today.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots, Eileen. My fave is the first one of the heron. Sounds like a wonderful spot to visit.
ReplyDeletePS: Thank you for hosting, Eileen!

Green Cay is a great place to see the birds. They are accustomed to humans and stick around to be photographed. Wonderful shots!
ReplyDeleteThe egret with the lizard looks so relaxed to people. Like that gator too. Heron family are a favorite.
ReplyDeleteGood morning Eileen, I really enjoy your critters and greenery! I hope this day finds a bit of relief from our weird and strangely aggressive winterness! At least we have lots of sunshine here today and guess what, no snow falling down! Enjoy your day.

Hello Eileen,

ReplyDeleteYou make me want to jump in the car and head for Fort Lauderdale! (Want to meet me there, lol!). Isn’t that a fabulous nature center? I haven’t seen a green heron yet this season. Thanks so much for your wonderful pictures and for hosting Saturday Critters. And for taking the time to visit and comment on my feeble efforts!
ReplyDeleteAt a time when I feel like the world around is so devoid of life and color, this post is perfect and a reminder that soon it won't be! Thanks Eileen!

I see Herons on blog posts all the time, and that is one of the nicest I've seen. It's so clear and pretty. How funny to have seen the Egret catch the lizard. I'm glad, cause they are creepy to me hehehe. Your photos are always wonderful, Eileen.
