Saturday's Critters #274

Welcome to Saturday's Critters !

If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

These are some of my yard bird visitors from Feb 24th up to March 6th. For a couple of days my yard was filled with Grackles, Red-winged Blackbirds and Brown-headed Cowbirds.

Another day I saw 8-10 Purple Finches, the females outnumbered the males.

The pretty male Purple Finch.

Male and female Purple Finches

I also saw a few Pine Siskins.

Below is a Pine Siskins and the American Goldfinch for comparison. The Pine Siskin has a pop of yellow in it's wing and tail feathers.

Of course I saw my regulars, which were the Red-bellied Woodpeckers, Cardinals, Nuthatches,  Purple Finches, Mourning Doves, American Robins, Dark-eyed Junco.

I appreciate and thank everyone who links up their post and for all the nice comments !

Here is a list of my linky parties;

Also visit:  I'd-Rather-B-Birdin. Thanks to the gracious host: Anni.

Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend!

Nice visitors! I do miss seeing those northern finches. Not even a single goldfinch this winter. Also have never recorded a Brown-headed Cowbird locally since moving to Florida in 2004.

You have a nice selection of backyard birds, Eileen. I have seen loads of Red-winged Blackbirds and Common Grackles here over the last week or so, but no cowbirds yet, although I suspect they have arrived too.

I like seeing the critters gradually return to parts south of us. It's encouraging to see them, and know the spring is on the way!
Thanks for hosting so faithfully!

Beautiful and perfectly composed pictures of birds in their cute moods. Long back i remember reading a Russian short story titled 'Grackles'.It was the story of a young man whose misfortune started with the sighting of a group of Grackles and the wrong decision he took which nearly destroyed his life.

Love your Grackles! We saw some in the forest this week. We've only seen them on the Gulf Coast before this! It was crazy! Love your pretty little birds! Hugs, Diane

you never need to leave the house to see magnificent birds. i do not see pineskins or purple finches in my yard, but i have been hosting plenty of those darn grackles. they are so ugly, noisy and all they do is empty the suet and fight with each other!!

your mosaic is great, you sure do see a great variety of birds. i have been seeing the white breasted nuthatches but i have not been able to get a picture!!!

enjoy your weekend and many thanks for hosting!!!

many species the male often goes ahead of the females. Two years ago I saw a cowbird baby with 2 song sparrows who were doing all they could to keep it fed. It had adopted their little cheep chatter

Your garden is a source of delight to me Eileen. Those finches are really beautiful as they tuck into the seed. The Pine Siskin is very subtle with just that flash of green to give its identity away.

Thanks for the link-up today. I hope your weather is better than our own. Nearly 3 weeks of wind and rain now!

Good morning Eileen and happy Sunday and of course St. Patrick's Day too I hope you're enjoying it. Your critters, birds are sweet as ever, especially some of your what I'd call character shots, they sure have some expressions that just speak to us!

Here's to loving all God's critters, even Grackles! Their plumage is stunning in sunlight. We see the very same array here in Ontario, Eileen. So interesting to me.
