Saturday's Critters #288

Welcome to Saturday's Critters!

If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

These are some images from our visit to see the York Pennsylvania Great Egret rookery. We also saw one Black-crowned Night Heron on a nest.  I have blogged a few times about the York Pa rookery.

Some of the Great Egret chicks seemed to be bigger than others.

Black-crowned Night herons also have nest in the nearby trees.

The fuzzy looking chicks are so cute.

It is always amazing to see these tall birds standing and nesting in the tops of the tall trees.

I appreciate and thank everyone who links up their post and for all the wonderful comments !

Here is a list of my linky parties;

Also visit:  I'd-Rather-B-Birdin. Thanks to the gracious host: Anni.

You are very lucky, Eileen, to be able to see all of these nesting colonies. This is now three species of heron you have presented to us over your past couple of posts. You have dine very well to capture the events in this fashion.

It's interesting comparing the large and small birds. Our big birds need time to grow and mature, like the osprey we have down the road.
Our wee chickadees are preparing another nest since the little birds grow fast. The robins are on brood #2, at least. It's fascinating!
Thanks for hosting! Have a good one.

awesome sights and captures eileen!! they must feel their nests are safe at the top of those trees, but i would think they are more visible and vulnerable to the large birds flying by. the egret chicks are so cute, so pretty looking up to momma!!!!

beautiful capture of the night heron too...i guess it is "baby time" of year!!!

I too am always amazed that these birds nest in trees - it looks ungainly somehow and yet clearly the system works for them! YAM xx

I think you are very smart to visit this rookery Eileen. All of those nesting herons and efrets are just asking to be photographed and simply enjoyed. I could spend many happy hours there snapping away.

Thanks again for today's link-up.

Great photos. It is amazing seeing them in trees. They look too big to fit. The fuzzy chicks are adorable.

Fuzzy and beautiful!
Thank you for hosting.

Agreed that seeing great blue herons standing nonchalantly in a tree is a bit surprising. They must have great balance as they are not clutching onto a branch.

Hi Eileen, Thanks for taking us along to the York Pennsylvania Great Egret rookery. Neat photos and, wow, I love #3 and #4. It is curious to me that these big, easy-to-spot birds nest in a way that is so out-in-the-open. I wonder if their size helps to ward off predators. Thanks for sharing and for hosting. Hope your weekend is a happy one. John

Oh My...the Great Egret rookery is marvelous, how wonderful that you have so many great birds so near you to observe and photograph. I envy that. The little ones are so darling and the adults are grand. We have the birds here and I am guessing some of them breed here as well, just not sure where. The Black Crowned Night Herons are also lovely birds...and now we have lots of them around and about. Thank you so much Eileen for your kindness and encouragement over the years as well as your sweet friendship. I appreciate you~

Those are fabulous shots Eileen - I love the cute fluffiness of the chicks. Also, to see where their nests are located (on those bare branches) is wonderful too. Cheers, Sue

We had these beautiful white egrets all over the place in my former home. It was the most amazing thing to see them roosting in the trees.
