These are some more photos from our walk at the North Point State Park in Baltimore County, Maryland.
We saw 5-6 adult Little Blue Herons and one mottled juvenile Little Blue Heron during our walk.
Bull frogs where everywhere, very loud.
The Mottled Little Blue Heron, a juvenile.
Another Little Blue Heron, we watched this one catch a frog.
A Pileated Woodpecker seen on a dead tree right above where an Osprey was perched.
Osprey and a thin looking nest.

I think these are the Red-eared Slider Turtles.
The Mottled Little Blue Heron, a juvenile.

The adult Little Blue Heron is beautiful, the blue colors around the bi-colored bill and the maroon head are lovely.

Little Blue Heron, truly beautiful, but the scraggy nest, someone up there needs to do a lot more work to make it safe and liveable!!!
The adult Little Blue Heron is gorgeous, love the colours. I am amazed at the size of the bull frog, I forgot how big they can be. I haven't seen one in decades. The woodpecker is ready to work on that dead tree. Beautiful photoss as usual, Eileen. Have a great day and a wonderful weekend.
I like the Little Blue's blue breeding blush. I rarely see it in my neighborhood as they do not breed nearby.

Quite rarely a Little Blue Heron wanders off course and is present in southern Ontario, but nearly always an errant juvenile. As you point out, Eileen, the adult is a splendidly-coloured bird and would be a star attraction in a wetland here.

Nice Little Blue Heron portrait! Beautiful! We don't see ospreys much in this part of the state. They're a bit more common in the western end.
Hi Eileen. That last Little Blue Heron is simply stunning. I didn't realise they had so many hues to their plumage. Like you say, that Osprey nest doesn't look too promising for raising a family. That Bull Frog is really huge. Is he the one in that famous song by Burl Ives?

Some really good captures of nature at its feathered and croaking and terrapin finest. I do hope Mr. Osprey gets busy working on that nest, as it's getting a bit late in the season. Thanks for commenting on my blogs. Barb

We love seeing the Little Blue Herons here in Florida and it's fun when you can go back and watch the young ones change from white to deep dark blue. Love your photos! We actually got out for a hike this morning! YAY! Happy weekend! Thanks for the fun!

I'm jealous...I can't get a quarter-mile near a frog before it dunks for cover
We only get one kind of heron here, the Great Blue Heron. We have them by the marina in town and once in a while up here at the cabin. They are such an unusual bird. Their cry is so distinctive. I finally got some critter pics to share this week. - Margy

You are so blessed to have a blue heron show up for you. Just recently, in the middle of a dam on an island I actually saw an eagle standing up sleeping. I knew it was an eagle because of the white head. Hope this is blog hop for this Saturday.
