Welcome to Saturday's Critters!
Hello and happy Saturday!
If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!
Some times I catch some birds in my yard or just outside my yard. We are surrounded by trees, I can hear the birds so I know they are close by.
1. A mosaic of my Northern Flicker, Northern Mockingbird and a Dark-eyed Junco.
2. From my kitchen window I watched two Northern Flickers at the end of our driveway. One disappeared behind the car, but this one was pecking at something on the ground.
3. The Northern Mockingbird hangs around the yard, it is finding berries to eat.
4. Below the Dark-eyed Junco showed up in the same bush as the Mockingbird.
5. The twigs and branches are always getting in the way, I had a small group of Dark-eyed Juncos finding food around the yard.
6. In the woods across from our driveway, I watched this hawk sitting in a tree. I am pretty sure I saw it's red tail as it flew to the ground. Then I lost it among all the trees and branches.
7. Besides hearing a Belted Kingfisher, I saw a nice size group of Canada Geese at our lake.
8. Canada Geese at Prettyboy Reservoir.
9. Grand-dogs Winnie and Nibbles enjoy their walks to the lake and on the fire roads.
10. Back at home, Nibbles and Winnie want some play time.
Thank you for sharing your critters and post!

Nice birds! I like the dogs too. My “critters” this week are pictures of some sort of undersea or microscopic organisms depicted on a natural history building on the nearby University of Michigan campus. A little out of the ordinary for Saturday critters!

I showed a junco today. I decided to use the slate-colored version of the name so people from elsewhere wouldn't think I was describing his eyes instead of naming him.

Hi Eileen! As always, I love your photos, including the ones of your Grand-dogs Nibbles and Winnie! ❤

ReplyDeleteGreetings from Poland!
Thank you Klaudia!
DeleteTake care, enjoy your day and new week ahead.
It's interesting to me that you have some of the same birds we only see when we're in Oregon and some of the same ones we only see when we're in Florida!! Birding Paradise where you are!..... Thank you for hosting as always.... I read your Monday post just now and I know you asked for no comments on it, but I wanted to tell you that we just learned that starting next year people will probably have to have a permit to drive the old Columbia Highway (the one you show in that post). The article in our Oregon paper said it was becoming so overcrowded, so they will spread out the visitors. Isn't that amazing? ANd aren't you glad you visited before you had to go through all that! I know we are. (of course living in Oregon all those years we had done that old highway often.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sallie! And I think Florida is a birding paradise. Birdwatching is one of my simple pleasures.
DeleteI guess needing a permit can control having too much traffic on the old Columbia Hwy. It is a beautiful to drive, very scenic. My hubby enjoyed all the waterfalls that are so close to the road. It would be a hassle to get a permit before visiting but, I can understand the need to reduce the traffic and people. Have a great day and week ahead.

Eileen - I have always admired the coloring on the Flickers - so attractive! What a blessing to get a glimpse and photo of the hawk - do you suppose it was hunting the smaller birds? Enjoy your weekend ahead!
