White Ibis

Hello,

This week I am sharing and featuring the White Ibis for my Wild Bird and Nature Notes post. The White Ibis was a common bird seen all around Florida. I believe some have been seen in the Mid-Atlantic states.

As you can see this White Ibis has white plumage and pink face skin. The adults have black tipped wings, visible in flight.

It is said their range is from Virginia and west to Texas and is very common in Florida.

Seen below are the White Ibis mixed with the Wood Storks, Heron, Swans and ducks.

A juvenile White Ibis can be seen below with the brownish feathers.

Thank you for stopping by and as always I appreciate your comments.

My list of memes for today, I hope to see you there. Thanks to both of the host below.

I am sharing some backyard birds and some of our local breeding birds in the woods around our home.

A red-bellied woodpecker sharing some peanut nuggets with a chipmunk on our deck railing.

A closer look at the chipper.

The Scarlet Tanager can be heard and seen from my deck sometimes.

We have our own Great Blue Heron rookery in the woods across from our driveway. You would not believe the crazy sounds they make sometimes.

A close look at the Scarlet Tanager, they breed in the tree tops in the woods next to our home.

A fussy thru the window shot of my male Ruby-throated Hummingbird.

Around the yard, Spring 2017

Hello,

Happy Thursday, I wish everyone a great day!  Thanks for taking the time to visit my blog and post.

I am sharing some birds and blooms from around our yard, spring 2017.

This is a loud House Wren that is nesting in a box on our deck. He/she is a loud fussy bird.

Some Clematis blooms growing on the fence.

This Rhododendron was planted before we moved in over 27 yrs ago. Now it is taller than our house.

I stopped putting out bird seed but once in while I spread some suet nuggets around the deck for the birds. This Catbird seems to love the suet balls.

I threw away most of my bird feeders but I kept just this one above and a suet feeder, luckily for this Rose-breasted Grosbeak that stopped by for a quick visit.

A closeup of one of our rhodo blooms.

For my Skywatch Friday photo, I am sharing a view of our lake and a pretty sky and reflection.

My list for Thankful Thursday:
I am thankful for warm sunny days!
I am thankful years ago my hubby planted and still takes care of these lovely plants and bushes. They are all growing well.

Thank you Michelle for hosting. Thankful Thursday

Loggerhead Shrike

Hello,

Happy Memorial Day! God Bless our veterans, soldiers and those who have lost their lives to protect the USA.

This week I am sharing the Loggerhead Shrike another Florida bird.  The Loggerhead Shrike is a medium sized passerine. This bird has a cool looking black mask and it has a short black hooked beak.

This Loggerhead Shrike was seen at the Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park.

This Loggerhead Shrike Posed nice showing both sides and back plumage and that hooked beak.

This Shrike below was seen in Cape Coral Florida. These birds are known to skewer their kill on thorns or barbed wire.

Thank you for stopping by and as always I appreciate your comments.
