The Eastern Bluebird just stops by looks in one of the houses and leaves again.  The Chickadee is still using this birdhouse. 

These images were all taken from my dining room window, the feeders are all hanging from our deck.  

 The Rose-breasted Grosbeaks have been around for a few days, The last day I saw these male Grosbeaks was on May 3rd. I am still seeing a couple of females at my feeders as of May 11th.

 Below is the pretty colorful male Rose-breasted Grosbeak  with a female lower in the suet feeder.

 The Gray Catbird is an occasional visitor to the feeder and my yard.

 Below is the Gray Catbird with the Pine Warbler.  They do not mind sharing the suet. 

I was surprised to see and hear this Black-throated Blue Warbler tapping on our den window.  I hope it does not make a habit of throwing himself against the window, the Cardinal gave up on his window reflection.   Not the best photo, it was taken out the window and there are too many rhododendron branches.

Happy Thankful Thursday!

Happy Thursday! 

 We are thankful, safe and happy! Taking life one day at a time. We go out for our walks weather permitting, still keeping the social distance. So thankful for sunny warm days!!

On this day, we took our walk at the local park called Hashawha, I have blogged many times about our walks in this park. Spring is a good time to see the warblers and other birds that moved back in for the summer.

 Various birds seen were the Wood thrush, Tree Swallows, Cardinals, Baltimore Orioles, Blue-gray Gnatcatchers, Carolina Wrens, Yellow Warbler and the Common Yellowthroat Warbler

 The male Common Yellowthroat Warbler is a common bird seen in this bird for the summer. We saw and heard a lot of them during our walk.

 The Baltimore Oriole is Maryland's state bird. I always enjoy seeing the Orioles. 

 The Yellow Warbler is a beautiful bird, the male is a bright yellow with reddish streaks on it's chest.

This is the juvenile Orchard Oriole, I love hearing the birds singing. 

The trail was getting muddy from all the rain we had the day before, we had to turn back near these Redbud trees. 

 The Wood Thrush has a beautiful song, it is a bird I can id just by it's song.

I am thankful for the simple pleasure of seeing and hearing the migrant or spring birds.

Our World, My World

 Happy Monday,

The NCR bike trail is the only trail open, which is some what close to us for a walk. It is a short drive away,  a nice trail for walking. I have posting often about our walks on the NCR trail. 

On this day we parked at the Bentley Springs, Parkton section of the trail. I heard a lot of birds, like the Northern Parula, various woodpeckers and we saw a couple of Mallards.

 This is a good time of the year for walking on the trail, there were a lot of wildflowers and different trees were blooming.

 I think this is the Bee Tree Run, it is close to the bike trail.

 We noticed a man using a stick trying to move this snake off the trail, he did not want the snake to be run over by a bike rider.  I think the snake did not like being moved, I stayed a distance away.

It looked like the snake was ready to strike.

These are some of the birds that live in the forest around our home.  The Pileated Woodpecker can be heard and seen almost every day.

The Pileated Woodpecker is one of the largest Woodpecker, 17 inches in length.

I watched this female Pileated Woodpecker pecking away at this downed tree from my deck. 

The Hermit Thrush is another bird in our forest, but it is supposed to be a winter bird?  I saw this bird on April 23rd. I was still seeing the Dark-eyed Junco and White-throated Sparrows around this day too. So, I guess my winter birds have not migrated as of yet.

The Hermit Thrush has a reddish tail. 

The Hermit Thrush will soon be replaced by the Wood Thrush and the Ovenbirds that make this forest their home for the summer. 

The Rose-breasted Grosbeak is one of my many favorite birds, it is just passing through. I was able to enjoy these birds in my yard for a few days.
