I am sharing some scenes from our walk to the local park and river called Gunpowder River State Park. We went mainly to see the Mountain Laurels in bloom but it was a little early to see all the blooms they were just starting to look pretty.
The Gunpowder river with some early morning fog, hubby chilling out on a rock, a hummingbird on the nest and a tulip poplar bloom.
While I was standing on one of the rocks at the river I saw a hummingbird flying high above me. I follow the hummer to the treetop and just snapped a photo. I lucked out getting this shot of the hummingbird on the nest. I did not know I got this shot until I looked at this photo on my computer. Can you find the hummingbird?
For my NF Tree and bush entry I am sharing the Mountain Laurels, some were blooming and some were just starting to blooms. Pretty white and pink blooms. You can see the trail above lower right, the mountain laurels are taller than I am.
The skinny trail next to the river, it is getting crowded out by all the Mountain Laurels and greenery.
A view of the Gunpowder River, the trail headed down to the river and a friend gave me the correct name for the butterfly it is the Pale Beauty butterfly.
More of the foggy river scene, mountain laurel blooms, a Great Blue Heron flying above us and a Louisiana Waterthrush near the foggy river.
Sitting by the river is a cool spot to spend a summer day. Above you can see some fog just above the river created by the air temperature and the water temp. I hope you enjoyed our walk and my post. Thanks as always for your visit and nice comments. Have a great day and week ahead!

ReplyDeleteYour photos and collages are really beautiful and there is a wonderful feeling of summer in this post. I so wish we had humming birds...
Thank you for sharing and have a great week ahead!
Now I must ask, where are the Mountain Laurels that I planted a few years ago. Just looked it up and I truly did plant a few and I know where and yet, they, like my Lavender and mysterious Lily's have all gone away. Don't you hate that, so many little walking creatures take them away, never to be seen again. Those plants are glorious and I am thinking I must try again. I can see the Hummingbird and the same thing happened to me last year while walking at Anchorage Trail and I heard the hummer first looked up and watched it head to it's nest. Happy week Eileen~
