Saturday's Critters #111

Saturday's Critters #111

Happy Saturday, it's time to share your critters and post. Any kind of critter will do, even a new or old post.. I appreciate everyone who is linking in with this week's critter party.

I am sharing some recent photos of our last walk on the Susquehanna River trail and Conowingo Dam to see the eagles.  There were not as many eagles as we saw back in November but there were enough around for us to enjoy and then there were the gulls.

For Teresa's Friday's Hunt   Thanks to Teresa

1. Starts with E
2. Week's favorite
3. Sky

For my letter E, I am sharing the Bald Eagles were seen in the trees next to the parking lot, above the trail and on the dam. I think the Eagle above has a cramp in his foot.

Plenty of gulls and a Bald Eagle standing on the end of the wall.

The Conowingo Dam is a great spot to find  the gulls in the winter.

The island in the middle of Susquehanna River is home to some wintering Great Blue Herons.

I call this shot above GULL Island.

A juvenile Bald Eagle seen as we were walking on the river trail.

Above is another Bald Eagle seen while we walked in the trail.

The Black Vultures were everywhere, some were just laying on the ground.

More Black Vultures were gathering in this area, not far from the parking lot and trail. I hope you enjoyed my birds and images. As always thanks for the visits and the nice comments. I also thank everyone who is linking up and sharing their critters.. Happy Saturday, have a great weekend!

Great photos of the Eagles Eileen. While I'm not a Birding enthusiast I still love birds. All kinds of birds are beautiful to me, the Vultures maybe not quite so much. I think even little plain Sparrows are beautiful.

Beautiful and very interesting photos, as always, dear Eileen! The "Gull Island" shot is my favourite.
I joined SC this week, even though people seem to find it difficult to spot my critter. It's in the first photo. :)
Thank you for hosting. Have a lovely weekend!

Hello Eileen and thanks for hosting another Saturday's Critters! You have another great selection of birds to share! The eagles are just awesome birds and thanks for sharing the vultures as I think that's the closest I've ever seen any.

Love those eagles! I have noticed our local eagles often rest on one foot with the other dangling. I think that when the leg is extended the talons automatically flex into a fist, so it means that the bird is relaxing, not all tensed up.

Those eagle images are just amazing! It's been quite a while since I've seen one. I'm not sure you could get many more gulls on that island. Thanks so much for joining Friday's Hunt! I'll have to come back later to link my critter post.

Thank you Eileen, for my lesson and your wonderful showing of 'large birds.' I am very familiar with the black vultures, we have a lot of those along the roads here in the Gulf Coast Plains. And up in the foothills too. We moved out of the hills to VERY FLAT LAND here at Katy, Texas (from Montgomery, Texas) and I miss a lot of the soaring actions viewing from our front porch down here.
Up there we also had the real bald eagles, they were down by the creek that ran through the golf course, we lived on top of a hill, on the course, so we'd see them at our back yard. There were only a few eagles but they were scattered around our subdivision.
Question: Did you know about "Bergmann’s rule” (? It)... makes things a bit more complicated: Bald eagles living farther north (in Canada or Alaska, for example) should be larger than those in the southern United States.
..
p.s. Next week I probably won't return comments until the Monday after, but please do visit my blog after your 'Hunt' posting. Thank you, I should check in but will be very late.
..

I've always wanted to see an eagle in person. All we get here - Warda, Texas - are those Cara Cara's/Mexican Eagles. I see them quite a bit over the neighbor's pond.

Dear Eileen,
I so much enjoy looking at your amazing photos of the birds! The eagles are so beautiful!!!
I was also shooting sea gulls on the beach today and also three buzzards flying high over the village, but my photos are not so good for a post, otherwise I would have linked here.

I love Bald Eagles and am lucky enough to see them regularly here in Montana. Occasionally a golden. We have turkey vultures with their bright red heads. And seagulls. Surprised me to no end to see them here - I'm a child of the Jersey shore and never expected seagulls in Montana. I guess they are just everywhere!

Looks like a great place to visit. Love the eagles!

Your eagle photos really are amazing! I always enjoy photos of them, and wished I saw them more than I do. I think the vultures can be such characters in their own way!

Wow - great photos. I wonder if the eagle has something wrong with its foot. The black vultures were amazing - I've never seen so many vultures in a group like that.

Interesting that the vultures just sat there, in my experience they aren't even comfortable with me taking their pics when their up on power line towers.

Muito bacana!
São colagens, fotos e muitas informações maravilhosas.
Gostaria de participar mas, minhas fotos de animais e aves não são boas... eles se movimentam muito e as fotos ficam tremidas e desfocadas.

Bom domingo! Boa semana!
Beijinhos.
