Saturday's Critters #111
For my letter E, I am sharing the Bald Eagles were seen in the trees next to the parking lot, above the trail and on the dam. I think the Eagle above has a cramp in his foot.
A juvenile Bald Eagle seen as we were walking on the river trail.
Above is another Bald Eagle seen while we walked in the trail.
Happy Saturday, it's time to share your critters and post. Any kind of critter will do, even a new or old post.. I appreciate everyone who is linking in with this week's critter party.
I am sharing some recent photos of our last walk on the Susquehanna River trail and Conowingo Dam to see the eagles. There were not as many eagles as we saw back in November but there were enough around for us to enjoy and then there were the gulls.
For Teresa's Friday's Hunt Thanks to Teresa
1. Starts with E
2. Week's favorite
3. Sky
Plenty of gulls and a Bald Eagle standing on the end of the wall.
The Conowingo Dam is a great spot to find the gulls in the winter.
The island in the middle of Susquehanna River is home to some wintering Great Blue Herons.
I call this shot above GULL Island.
The Black Vultures were everywhere, some were just laying on the ground.
More Black Vultures were gathering in this area, not far from the parking lot and trail. I hope you enjoyed my birds and images. As always thanks for the visits and the nice comments. I also thank everyone who is linking up and sharing their critters.. Happy Saturday, have a great weekend!

The Bald Eagle looks fierce and the Black Vultures look very scary.
Thank you, Eileen for hosting Saturday's Critters. Have a blessed weekend!
Wow, your Bald Eagle shots are amazing.
Must have been great to see so many birds together like that. Loved your eagle photos and the vultures have the most interesting faces. Thank you for hosting Eleen and have a great weekend.
Hi Eileen, great first shot of the Bald Eagle and even better that you saw a juvenile. I love the Black Vultures lying on the ground. Thanks for hosting this meme. Happy Saturday to you. Jo
Great photos of the Eagles Eileen. While I'm not a Birding enthusiast I still love birds. All kinds of birds are beautiful to me, the Vultures maybe not quite so much. I think even little plain Sparrows are beautiful.
Beautiful and very interesting photos, as always, dear Eileen! The "Gull Island" shot is my favourite.
I joined SC this week, even though people seem to find it difficult to spot my critter. It's in the first photo. :)
Thank you for hosting. Have a lovely weekend!
Hello! The Bald Eagle are so beautiful, and The Great Blue Heron too! Lovely images.
I wish you a Happy Saturday, and enjoy your weekend!
Hi Eileen,
Beautiful series of pictures, especially the bald eagle is great.
I wish you a very nice weekend.
Best regards, Irma
Hello Eileen!:)
Wonderful Gull and Heron sightings, and I loved your shots of the Bald Eagles and Black Vultures. I don't know, but It must be an unusual sight to see so many vultures just laying on the ground!!
Have a good weekend Eileen.:)
What a Bald Eagle, fantastic images Eileen.
Hi Eileen--what a great place to view birds Such a variety!
Have a happy weekend. Stay warm
Hello Eileen and thanks for hosting another Saturday's Critters! You have another great selection of birds to share! The eagles are just awesome birds and thanks for sharing the vultures as I think that's the closest I've ever seen any.
Enjoy your weekend!
Wonderful series, thanks for sharing. Never seen a laying vulture before... and the gull island is my favorite for today.
Have a nice weekend
Love those eagles! I have noticed our local eagles often rest on one foot with the other dangling. I think that when the leg is extended the talons automatically flex into a fist, so it means that the bird is relaxing, not all tensed up.
Hello Eileen,
What a great pictures of that bald eagles. They are fantastic.
So wonderful these birds.
Many greetings,
Mraco
Great photos! You're very lucky to get to see Bald Eagles.
Hi Y'all!

Oh, the eagles are so majestic! I've seen some in Alaska before. Thank you so much for popping in to see me.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia
I would love to get such a good shot of a bald eagle!
How wonderful to capture a young bald eagle in a photo.
Great photos of the eagles! The vultures, too! Two of my favorites!
Just don't know how you manage to see so many different big birds!
"gull island", very clever, i see a lot of gull islands!!! hehehe, they do stick close together.
awesome captures of the bald eagles...i can only dream, they are magnificent!!!!
many thanks for hosting!!!!
Eileen, your photos always bring me such joy and are so captivating! This series is magnificent. Thank you so much for sharing.
Wonderful collection of critter photos...of course the eagles are my favorites. But glad to see such good photos of the Black Vultures...we saw one in the middle of the highway one time coming home from getting Lorelei. Couldn't get a photo.
I like your new blog bright white look! And wonderful Eagles. I just read that they are nesting here already. Brrr...
what a great place to enjoy birds.
I would be doing so much squee I wouldn't get any shots of the birds.
Love the first eagle shot!
your eagle image is majestic
Always cool to see bald eagles and your vulture shot is great!
Those eagle images are just amazing! It's been quite a while since I've seen one. I'm not sure you could get many more gulls on that island. Thanks so much for joining Friday's Hunt! I'll have to come back later to link my critter post.
Thank you Eileen, for my lesson and your wonderful showing of 'large birds.' I am very familiar with the black vultures, we have a lot of those along the roads here in the Gulf Coast Plains. And up in the foothills too. We moved out of the hills to VERY FLAT LAND here at Katy, Texas (from Montgomery, Texas) and I miss a lot of the soaring actions viewing from our front porch down here.
Up there we also had the real bald eagles, they were down by the creek that ran through the golf course, we lived on top of a hill, on the course, so we'd see them at our back yard. There were only a few eagles but they were scattered around our subdivision.
Question: Did you know about "Bergmann’s rule” (? It)... makes things a bit more complicated: Bald eagles living farther north (in Canada or Alaska, for example) should be larger than those in the southern United States.
..
p.s. Next week I probably won't return comments until the Monday after, but please do visit my blog after your 'Hunt' posting. Thank you, I should check in but will be very late.
..
Hello Eileen. Sorry I can't join in fully today as I am still in Spain. Good luck with your critter day and best wishes for next week.
I'm amazed more and more by the Nature surrounding you and by your ability in catching such precious moments, my darling Eileen, you're truly so very talented !
Have a weekend blessed with joy and wonder,
sending so much love to you,
with gratitude
Dany
Fantastic photos ! Thanks for sharing , have a good day !
What a treat, Eileen, to see those eagles! Beautiful!
Certainly a treat to see so many shots of the Bald Eagle . . .
(I liked the cranes and gulls too, vultures, not so much!)
You are the best Eileen . . .
I've always wanted to see an eagle in person. All we get here - Warda, Texas - are those Cara Cara's/Mexican Eagles. I see them quite a bit over the neighbor's pond.
Dear Eileen,
I so much enjoy looking at your amazing photos of the birds! The eagles are so beautiful!!!
I was also shooting sea gulls on the beach today and also three buzzards flying high over the village, but my photos are not so good for a post, otherwise I would have linked here.
I wish you a lovely weekend!!!
Love the baby eagle and all wonderful shots ~ even the vultures!
Happy Weekend to you ~ ^_^
ps. running behind this week ~ catching up slowly
Happy Critter Saturday to you too Eileen, and you have a load of lovely feathered friends today. But it's the contrast of the bright white feathers and the lovely rich blue skies that caught my eyes! Enjoy your day take care!
The bald eagles are magnificent, do you use a tele lens?
Some birds are quite plain in their childhood! Am glad the eagle matures such a magnificent appearance!
Wonderful to see the Bald Eagles and especially the juvenile. The Black Vultures are interesting, too. Always love the Great Blue Herons. Thanks for hosting and hope you have a great weekend, Eileen! x Karen
Superior images!!! I love 'em all.
A special thanks for sharing and adding your post to the linking tool this weekend at I'd Rather B Birdin'!! Your contribution is always appreciated.
Lovely pictures! I especially enjoyed the bridge and The Black Vultures :-))
Great photos and birds.
Great selection of birds Eileen. Of course the Eagles are my favorites but it's neat to see the others like the gulls and the buzzards (strange looking fellows).
Hello Eileen!!
Great shots of the Bald Eagle!!
I really enjoyed your wonderful pictures!
Have a happy Sunday!
Dimi...
gull island is cute. love that you see eagles. like the vultures, too!
Great post! Love the bald eagle!
Glad you used the 'E' for eagle Eileen, love seeing these birds. Gull island is pretty crowded!
Loved seeing the eagle and Vultures. Great shots!
I love seeing the eagles. Nice shots of all the birds. Gull Island- that's a perfect name!
Those eagles are so regal looking. Have you seen the website for the bal eagles over in York county? It's been a long time since I've been across the Conowingo dam!
Loving all of your pictures, I love to watch the vultures here, they are so goofy looking, thanks for sharing & for hosting, phyllis
I love Bald Eagles and am lucky enough to see them regularly here in Montana. Occasionally a golden. We have turkey vultures with their bright red heads. And seagulls. Surprised me to no end to see them here - I'm a child of the Jersey shore and never expected seagulls in Montana. I guess they are just everywhere!
Looks like a great place to visit. Love the eagles!
Your eagle photos really are amazing! I always enjoy photos of them, and wished I saw them more than I do. I think the vultures can be such characters in their own way!
Wow - great photos. I wonder if the eagle has something wrong with its foot. The black vultures were amazing - I've never seen so many vultures in a group like that.
exquisite photographs, eileen! each and every one of them! what a glorious experience that must have been for you to observe and capture these beautiful birds.
enjoy your sunday!
We dont have Bald Eagle here...at least not my part of the jungle. Nice to see the photos in your blog
What magnificent creatures those eagles are! Thanks for hosting, Eileen. Have a great new week!
The vultures are quite interesting too!
Fantastic photos of the eagles!
Happy Sunday !
You share your critters, I share my mushrooms.
Great shots, Eileen.
Interesting that the vultures just sat there, in my experience they aren't even comfortable with me taking their pics when their up on power line towers.

Muito bacana!
São colagens, fotos e muitas informações maravilhosas.
Gostaria de participar mas, minhas fotos de animais e aves não são boas... eles se movimentam muito e as fotos ficam tremidas e desfocadas.
Bom domingo! Boa semana!
Beijinhos.

Fun shots... must have been a great visit! Off to look at more!
Love the Eagle shots
We went out eagle watching this week too. Didn't see many even though there were reports of quite a few along the river. I did see a heron, ducks and what I think was an American Dipper. - Margy
Hi Eileen, Your eagle photos are great and I enjoyed the other birds as well. Congrats on Saturday's Critters #111 ... an excellent meme indeed. Thank you for your kind comment on my blog. I knew you had visited Hurricane Ridge in the Olympics but I did not realize you had done an Alaska Cruise. If you can, next time tell me which ship you took and if you enjoyed the journey. Wishing you a fine week ahead!
Love the eagle.
Wow...an island for gulls?!...And a lovely eagle, so many birds, vultures... (For my post I found only two horses in a very old litography and the pines specific to mountain region.*-*)
You have such beautiful aspects to share with us! Nature is incredible, all the time!
Greetings in the last day of january and a great start in the new week of february!
Beautiful portraits of the Eagles in both stages! We have seen vulture gatherings like that in or near the Everglades.... it's so interesting.
Gorgeous photos of the eagles! They're handsome birds.
Heisann, Eileen! Have a nice week , hugs from Norway ;:OD)
