Saturday's Critters #127
Happy Saturday, it's time to share your critters and post. Any kind of critter will do, even a new or old post.. I appreciate everyone who is linking in with this week's critter party.
I am skipping all around and sharing photos from May 8th, I have some birds seen in my neighborhood and from our walk to the lake to see the Bald Eagle's nest.
A first for me this time of the year I saw a few Common Loons on our lake.
I am pretty sure, even though this is an awful photo the Bald Eagle is standing in front of an eaglet. I see a dark body and the beak of the eaglet. I wish the nest was closer, but it is across the lake and too far for a good photo.
The Scarlet Tanager is a breeder in my area and in the forest next to our home.
Above is the Louisiana Waterthrush video taken during my walk on the nearby fireroad. You can see the Waterthrush hopping around catching bugs and some other bird sounds like the Worm Eating Warbler and I believe an Ovenbird is fussing at me.
The ovenbird is another breeder in the forest next to our home. We are lucky to have our property back up to this forest. As always thanks for the visits and the nice comments. I also thank everyone who is linking up and sharing their critters.. Happy Saturday, have a great weekend!

Wow, you took a shot from across the lake - you must have a powerful lens! Enjoy your weekend:)
Yes you are so fortunate to have a forest so near you and I loved the Overbird as well as seing the bird on the vidoe. He certainly does move his tail a lot. Thanks or hosting and i hope you have a very pleasant weekend.

Thanks for hosting! Have a lovely weekend!
You are so fortunate to have such an interesting habitat so close to home. Have a glorious weekend.
Many interesting meetings have occurred! =)
Have a great weekend!
Good morning Eileen!:) Great sighting of the Common Loon, their plumage is so pretty, and I love your image of the sweet Ovenbird one of my favourite and recent discoveries. You really are blessed to live in this beautiful area where you are able to see both small and large birds.
Enjoy your weekend.:)
You're so fortunate to have the scarlet tanager! We are "supposed" to have them, yet I have yet to actually see one.
Have a happy weekend, Eileen
Tão, mas tão lindas tuas fotos! Deu vontade de nadar cm os patinhos no lago azul! Tudo maravilhoso! Lindo fds! beijos, chica
I love the call of the loon!
I especially liked the loons and the Scarlet Tanager. That waterthrush is certainly very active! Its wagging tail helps give him away. I usually see the Northern Waterthrush so it is nice to see the Louisiana in action and with good views of its distinguishing markings. Thanks for hosting!
Oh I would love to see a Scarlet Tanager!
Have a wonderful week-end!
Lea
Beautiful, Eileen. I especially enjoyed seeing that Scarlet Tanager and the gorgeous photo of loons on the water. Thank you for hosting.
Helloo, Beautiful post and photos.

Oooh thanks for the video clip, what a delight! The scarlet tanager is certainly an eye catcher - but I love that you have (albeit fuzzy) a capture of eagles feeding; that's excitement! YAM xx
I love seeing and hearing the loons.
ooooh eileen, what a great eye you have, that sure does look like an eagle to me!! i would love to see those scarlet tangers at my place, we need someone new and exciting around here!!
you should make a "rest here" sign for that tree in the last image. it is the perfect place for the birds to land for there picture, the leaves make a beautiful backdrop!!!!
many thanks for hosting eileen, have a wonderful weekend!!!
You're very lucky to live in such a wonderful place. Thank you for hosting and I wish you a lovely weekend.
gorgeous tananger.. critters, critters every where and what do I fall in love with? the WATER in the loon photo. Wow... that is just beautiful
A resourceful forest.
Many birds.
And should be there many mushrooms.
Good morning! I have a mystery warbler that looks a little like your Prairie Warbler today. Hope you can help me with an ID. Enjoy your weekend! Hugs, Diane
Hi Eileen, I'm back in Blogland and have linked up. thanks for hosting. I love the Louisiana Waterthrush - it's so busy. And the common loons are my favorites today. Have a great day. Jo
The birds are always my favourite images.
Heips eileen, I did it..
I really love the red bird, I don't know what it is, but any way, it is beautiful.
The eagle's nest is impressive! I'd be happy just to see one no matter the distance. Beautiful tanager! They're very brilliant.
The Scarlet Tanager is beautiful. We have the Western here. I'll have it in my post this week. Haven't seen any eagles' nests this year. Great photos.
I haven't had any chance of doing any bird or critter posts this past week or so because of company. Now that my sister is back home in Colorado, I will try and catch up.
Love the collages...but my favorite today is the Common Loon photos. Wow. A favorite song from them I so enjoy.
The water thrush video is great and I love the scarlet tanager! Thanks so much as always for your generosity in sharing your beautiful birds, your knowledge and for hosting.
Loons. That's great! I hope you get more sightings.
Hi Y'all!
Ah, the loons...we see them here in the winter. Love their mournful call. The scarlet tanager is another favorite. They are so beautiful and bright.
Y'all come on by,
Hawk aka BrownDog
Fun! Tanager!
May is such a birdie month! So many photos, so little time!!! :-)
Good morning Eileen! I should be sharing a photo of a wild turkey today. Yep, yesterday while taking pictures of a book (hehehe) you probably saw that post, I turned around to see what my dog Misty was up to and WOW! a wild turkey was spooked and took off in a hurry. I'm so mad I didn't get him/her captured on camera! Funny how life is right?! Enjoy your weekend and feathered-pretty-critters.
That tanager is amazing, what color. It's too bad that eagle nest is so far away, how exciting to watch.
I love the scarlet tanager! Wish we had bright colored birds like that where I live.
I LOVE the picture of the loons and the scarlet tanager :)
Lovely images of birds. I especially like the Scarlet Tanager and the Common Loons swimming in the water. Have a beautiful day. Thank you for hosting.

The Tanager is is absolutely fabulous!
Wish we had such stunning and colourful passerine bird here!
Warm hugs and enjoy your sunday :)
so beautiful - happy weekend :-)
I'm thrilled to have found you this past week. I'll be spending a lot of time following links to more wildlife while I take breaks from work this week.
The first "teacher teacher teacher" of spring makes me smile and every other call catches my attention. I enjoy these birds a lot. I still have a lot of calls to learn, and it seems like it's a three-step-forward but two-steps-back thing for me. I think I have them down pat by the end of the summer, they migrate, and I forget a lot of them over the winter. It's always a thrill though to hear them if it I have to look them up...again.
So many birds that are "new" to me. I especially love the loons and the tanager. Wishing you a lovely Sunday.
Lovely shots, Eileen - I especially like the scarlet tanager.
Have a great new week!
Wow !! Beautiful series of picture, Eileen !!
Happy weekend :)
How wonderful to be so close to an eagles nest, Eileen! The loons are wonderful - you have such a great variety of critters!
A lot of beautiful birds !
Thanks for the nice comments about my mothers life in mountains.
I wish you a nice new week !
I like brightly coloured birds. Ours are mostly plain. Maybe they have to blend in more to survive. - Margy
I loved the video... and the peaceful sounds, in it!...
And I am in love... with the last photo!!!!
A stunning work, Eileen! Great images!
All the best!
