Veery

Hello and happy Monday,

I am sharing the Veery, it is a breeder in the woods near our home in Maryland. They have a weird sound and call, I usually hear them more then see them. But on this day hubby and I were walking on the fire road and there were two calling and we had some great views.

The Veery is a small Thrush species. The adults have a light brown upperpart, underparts are white and the breast has faint brown spots.

It is one of my favorite local breeding birds and is always a treat to see.

  25. Another new bird to learn about. I like to learn their calls so I can just know who is around my yard. I hear lots of birds when I have my kitchen window open and I can always spot a newcomer to the neighborhood.
    Have a great week.

  34. Hello Eileen!:)

The Veery is, quite thrush-like, both beautiful birds, with a lovely loud call. I often don't remember the names of birds, but I will remember the Veery's name, when I think of it being "Very" pretty.
    Your new header is Lovely!:)

  35. I have never heard of a veery but it is very like a thrush isn't it? The colours might be more delicate but the voice is wonderful.
