Saturday's Critters #193

Welcome to Saturday's Critters!

If you love critters like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

I am sharing some more images from our visit to Bombay Hook Wildlife Refuge in Delaware. I have blogged many times on our various visits to Bombay Hook NWR, it is one of my favorite places to see the birds and view wildlife. I hope you enjoy my photos.

On this day we arrived at the wildlife refuge early in the morning since we spent the night in Dover Delaware. We were able to see 5-6 Clapper Rails with some chicks.

We saw lots of Egrets, some Snowy Egrets, Great Egrets and there may be the juvenile Little Blue Heron too.

The Green Heron posed nicely on the fence for me.

The first Clapper Rail sighting at the beginning of the wildlife drive.

Another adult Clapper Rail with a cute chick. Their chicks are black in color.

There are two Clapper Rail chicks above, it is great to be there during the low tide to see these secretive birds come out of the grasses looking for food.

The Great Egret above with it's yellow bill and black legs. It is one of the taller egrets.

Not the clearest shot, but I think this Fox was cute that came out and sat on the wildlife drive as we went past.

I appreciate and thank everyone who links up their post and for all the wonderful comments! I hope you enjoy my post and photos too!

Here is a list of my linky parties;
Also visit:  I'd-Rather-B-BirdinThanks to the gracious host: Anni.

  1. Oh my- so many wonderful critters. I've never gotten a photo of a bittern, let alone a baby - and the fox is so neat. We had the Egrets in California - one was spotted at the Wylie Slough here in Washington but it was spotted just after we left - darn. But we had a good birding day. Happy weekend.

  29. nice collection of critters

The fox is so cool. I've only seen one fox in FL...on the fairway, and I didn't have a camera with me. Of course it ran by pretty fast anyway...guess he had experience with golf balls plunking down around him

  30. That is a neat place! You were lucky to see so many Clapper Rails. The few times I have seen them they were singles, and no chicks!

    ReplyDelete
  31. You did well to see all those very secretive Clapper Rails Eileen.I guess getting there early makes a huge difference as a series of folk walking by wont be to their liking.

Thanks so much for your link-up today.

  54. Hello Eileen!
These white egrets especially are gorgeous and the little fox is so adorable sitting on the wildlife drive...:) :) such great experience, to observe all of these in their natural habitat. In my walk, I just had the chance to see some doves, one black crow from distance near the pond and to hear the song of blackbirds and to record it in my little video. I always think that it is lovely to visit your amazing posts, because I can see much more and more interesting critters and, also, aspects from the stunning nature. So many thanks for this chance!
A very wonderful Sunday and new week ahead! Alexa
