Keel Billed Toucan seen at the at the National Zoo in DC this past weekend.
The Keel Billed Toucan I saw in the wilds of Costa Rica last year.
I love seeing birds anywhere but seeing them in the wild is so much nicer.

I am not sure I saw this one. There were several different. But this is a beauty. :)
nice
What a gorgeous bird! The colors are so vivid. Amazing creature, amazing shots!
Catching them in the wild is so much more a thrill. :)
Great photos and isn't it just stunning! I too prefer birds in the wild, even if I can't get near them to photograph-lol!!!
Hi Eileen, The Toucan is a beautiful bird, but I'm like you... I would rather see them in the wild....
Thanks for sharing.
Hugs,
Betsy
Wow!! What a beak. Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
Hi Eileen, Nice pictures of the Toucans. I agree with you about it being better to view animals in the wild. I thought that way when I saw my first Orca in the waters off British Columbia a few years ago while on a vacation.
Very exotic and colourful. I prefer photographing the wild ones but sometimes you take what is available. Cheers FAB.
HOW fortunate you got to see one in the Wilds--thats one lovely bird--what colors!!
What a pretty bird! I agree it is best to see birds in the wild.
I especially love that first one..very nice.
Wow! What a colorful bird. I'll probably never see one in the wild, and may not ever even see a captive toucan. So, thanks for sharing your photos.
Tocans are very high on my bird "wish list" - but they are also a very long way down my "likely to see list".
So. I'll make do with yoour pictures for now.

The Toucan is beautiful, I am always amazed at their colors. I love seeing birds anywhere but like you I prefer them in the wild.
What a beautiful bird and how great to be able to see it in the wild.
such a beautiful bird. your photos are wonderfully captured.
So colorful! I like the first one best, but all well done.
Its a beautiful specimen and I remember your post from Costa Rica. I prefer to se birds free to fly anywhere but I understand the importance of Zoos.
Nice captures of a beautiful, colorful bird!
What a beauty. Thank you.
I love seeing birds anywhere but seeing them in the wild is so much nicer

Ps. I hope I will see a lot of new birds when I will go to Sri Lanka later this year.
I have always wanted to see this exotic bird. Your captures are lovely! Of course the ones with him in the wild are my fave.
It's remarkably similar to our Hornbills in appearance,I wonder they are related. Cool bird!
He is so handsome , Eileen! how wonderful it must of been to see one in the wild.
That is an incredible bird Eileen. It would be interesting to hear about some of the details of your trip. Imagine seeing a toucan in the wild. This sounds like a trip worth taking!
I have never seen photos like this of toucans. What beautiful birds!
What a beautiful bird, Eileen. I remember your post last year. He is very similar to our Black-and-white-Casqued Hornbills which are not coloured of course! I love seeing birds and animals in the wild. Beautiful images. Greetings Jo
These are so colorful..your header is really lovely too Eileen!
My son took a trip their a number of years ago and photographed them..I agree- much better to see them in the wild but I sure enjoy these! You are fortunate to be able to visit them.
Wishing you a lovely day~
Such a colorful bill, I have not seen this variety here.
Beautiful captures! How cool to have seen one in the wild. Happy WW!
Excellent shots of the Keel Billed Toucan Eileen! That middle shot of Toucan showing its red undertail coverts is gorgeous!
Such a beautiful bird--you are so right-it would be much more exciting seeing him in the wild. But, it is nice to have the opportunity to observe him if you are not fortunate enough to be out in the wild. Nice post. Mickie
I've only seen them in zoos....to be able to see one in the 'wild' would make me faint with excitement. Or maybe I'd pee in my pants. Who knows.
