Today is the 10th anniversary of 9/11, I wanted to say a thank you to all the Firefighters and Police who put their lives in danger on that day and every day and to honor all those who lost their lives in the 9/11 terrorist attack. My prayers go out to the victims and their families. It is one day I will never forget.
For my post this week I have some more birds from the Edwin Forsythe wildlife rufuge in New Jersey for my Mosaic Monday and Our World Tuesday.
I know by now everyone knows I love to go birding. For me birding is peaceful and relaxing. These photos are from last weekends visit to the wildlife refuge. We saw some great birds and had a great time. Here is a list of some of the birds we saw at the refuge: 4 Clapper Rails, Great Egrets, Snowy Egrets and Cattle Egrets, Great Blue Herons, Black Crowned Night Heron, Caspian Terns, Forsters Terns, Black bellied Plovers, Glossy Ibis, Semipalmated Sandpipers and Plovers, Sanderlings, Dowitchers, Yellowlegs, Black Skimmers, hundreds of gulls, Osprey and Swallows. I am sure there are some birds I am forgetting, there were so many.
One of the 4 Clapper Rails we saw.
In my mosaic below I have photos of the terns, gulls, glossy ibis, black bellied plovers and egrets.
Below just three of the Glossy Ibis we saw.

Beautiful pictures of the Ibises.
Such a wonderful variety! Though I might not ever see these birds, it's nice learning new ones.
Yes, me too. Though I might not ever see these birds, it's nice learning new ones.
I completely understand your love of birding...it seems so serene and peaceful. I remember the first time I saw a blue heron...it was like magic!
Birding is such a peaceful hobby. Thanks for sharing your photos Eileen.

Really enjoying your bird shots :)
You do get to see some fabulous birds when you get out birdwatching. That is a rather cute little Tern!
Wonderful pictures. You can almost feel the change in the season. Wishing you a grand week!
We have been observing the traffic of birds in our own backyard in the last couple of weeks. I think we have seen the last of our hummingbirds although I will keep the feeder up for a while yet just in case. Many birds have begun their winter migration now. I am so sad to see them go. I enjoyed your post of birds in your area. V
Wonderful shots, Eileen. I find watching birds very relaxing also. It's so much fun watching shore birds ... especially the little guys ... they are so active on their *feet*!!!
You have access to some great places for birding - I do miss the coast for that reason. Lovely shots.
If I could be closed to a WR, I would be there in an instant. The varieties of the egrets are so beautiful!
I really did enjoy your birds Eileen. This would be a walk I'd enjoy. Have a good week!
Eileen is it wonderful how you are able to name so many east coast birds and record them with your camera in their natural habitat! The Edwin Forsythe wildlife rufuge looks like a wonderful birder area. You found such a wnderful variety of birds there.
What a great day of birding, Eileen. That looks like a convention of egrets.
The tall grasses not only enhance the water scenes and make life more livable for the birds nearby … they also make lovely photographic subjects. Thanks as always for sharing the natural wonders of your world. :)
Delicious shot a real darling. I love your way decaptar the natural environment.
It does indeed look like a great day of birding and I love the egrets! Terrific captures and what a wonderful variety of birds! Hope you have a lovely week!

The glossy ibis is new to me, too, and the juvenile tern is ever so cute. An interesting and busy day's birding.

Fantastic shots of the birds.
Great photos and mosaics! I love birding there..You are lucky you are able to go there often..Great Place!
Wonderful variety of birds. I love photographing them and watching their behaviors.
You're so blessed to have such a rich waterfront for the wildlife where you can watch so many varied birds on one visit. Some birds are new to me, I checked the dictionary what they are called in Japanese. Thank you for sharing.
Great photos...glossy ibis..never heard of it..out here on the plains of West Texas, sparrows, robins, blue jays...some kind of black birds..nothing exotic like these.:)

Aren't they a feast to eyes! We rarely get to see them here in concrete jungle.
lovely variety of birds!
this is a great waterland and a good set of birds. :)
What a lovely refuge for birds. So many great shots!
Beautiful mosaics! Love the white egrets, we have them here too - they seem so elegant.
Great pictures, fortunately my cats are outside !
your bird shots are truly stunning, makes my heart smile. :)
Great hike Eileen!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
I am enjoying my visit to your blog every time, since I get to see different birds that I don't get to see here!
Gorgeous photos, and amazing birds.
It looks like a beautiful place, great shots.
That refuge is really heaven for a bird watcher (well and obviously for the birds as well). And your pictures are so good, I really feel the excitement of spotting them. Thanks!
wonderful..wonderful shots! I have never seen this birds..all of them...
What a successful and soothing day for you! Lovely birds and I adore your egret header. Those ibis are gorgeous with their sword shaped beaks. Amazing to se so many birds in one day and to my way of thinking, so many that are large enough for older eyes to see!
Thank you for this wonderful post on Our World.
Omigosh, what fabulous captures!!! I would love to see some of those, and I'm not really a birder but just someone who loves wildlife... :) Thanks for sharing at MM. :)
