Half Year Review 2013

I am linking up with Mosaic Monday and Our World Tuesday

December 22, 2013...Merry Christmas everyone!!

I still can not believe Christmas is only days away, I still have my wrapping to do and a pie to bake.I guess I better get with it, time is running out. I know a lot of my blogging friends are taking breaks for the holiday, which was probably a good idea.
I have a lot of favorite photos from 2013, I would like to share just the first half of the year.  There were so many favorites, favorite sunrise and sunset, favorite bird and feeder and favorite photos. So here is just a quick review...

JANUARY....A beautiful Maryland sunrise and from my favorite birding place in Delaware..Hooded Merganser couple seen at Bombay Hook.

FEBRUARY...A favorite feeder with the birds..seen above a few of my favorites birds...the female Northern Cardinal, Pine Siskins, Carolina Chickadee and a Red-Breasted Nuthatch...

MARCH...Ocean City sunrise...Common Loons @ OC inlet, Snow Buntings one of my favorite birds, our resident nesting Great Blue Heron and a cool Belted Kingfisher..

APRIL....Florida vacation...Burrowing Owl lifer..Wood Stork lifer..Roseate Spoonbill, juvenile Anhinga and a Key West sunset.

MAY...migration has started and summer birds are returning..these are some of my favorite birds and sightings...Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Baltimore Oriole, Orchard Oriole, Least Bittern lifer, juvenile Brown Thrashers and a Indigo Bunting.

JUNE....Sunset over our lake and some of my favorite yardbirds: the singing Pine Warbler, two Redbellied Woodpeckers, Ruby-throated Hummingbird and a pretty local breeder the Northern Parula seen in my yard.

I will do a later post on the second half of 2013 sharing more of my favorites...I hope you enjoyed this post and my favorite photos..For some reason or another they are special to me..

I wish a very Merry Christmas to everyone and their families... a Happy & Healthy 2014...

As always, I hope you enjoy my post and thanks for visiting my blog. I always appreciate your comments.

  23. Hi Eileen
I don't think I had the pleasure of being with you in the first half of the year, which would explain why their is no wren in your review perhaps - lol ?!
I have absolutely loved meeting you and it was wonderful to see what I missed - shame as it's the early bird that catches the worm!!!
    See you soon

  44. Hello Eileen
I'm so glad you came to visit my blog and enjoyed my Christmas vignette.
These bird collages are sooooo very beautiful! I think the first mosaic is my most favourite - it's just stunning.
I know how difficult it is to take bird images as I often try myself with the wide variety of bird life here on our 8 acre property mainly of bush plus we have a huge garden also.

Do have a wonderful Christmas and I'm sure I will be revisiting to see the next set of six mosaics.

  58. Hi Eileen, this is a magnificent collection of bird photos and I love looking thru them. We don't have any cardinals on the west coast and each time I'm out east they seem terribly elusive. I'd love to see just one nice big fat one! But I must tell you I love the hooded mergansers s much. There's a little mountain lake close to Vancouver and each time I go there I see a small flock of maybe seven or so. Love watching them. :) Have a wonderful feathery Christmas. Much love from me to you. X

  66. Awesome pics! LOVE the owl, the indigo bunting, and the rose-breasted grosbeak - I've had the good fortune to see the latter two in my yard but only a time or two. What do you feed to attract them? I feed safflower, sunflower, and cracked corn. I used to feed suet but the raccoons kept knocking the suet feeder down and eating it all. I also have bushes that get berries, plus rasp., blackberries, strawberries, and blueberries.
Your first photo of the sunrise is amazing. You are an awesome birder and photographer! Merry Christmas!
