Saturday's Critters #58
It's Saturday and it's time to share your critters.. Any kind of critter will do, even a new or old post.. I appreciate everyone who has linked up in the past and for those who are linking in on this week's critter party. And of course I always appreciate my blogging friends stopping by just for a visit.
These are some birds we saw last week at the Edwin Forsythe NWR in NJ.. Even though most of the water was frozen we did see some ducks and geese at the wildlife refuge..
Thanks to Tex Theresa aka Tex, I was able to add this link up button and thanks to Jennifer for creating my photo badge.
To see more beautiful birds and cute critters, check out these two memes below.

A pair of Hooded Mergansers...
I believe these are Dunlins in flight and a couple of American Black Ducks..
A few male Hooded Mergansers along with a couple of female Hooded Mergansers. The females have those crazy "hairdos'. The Mergansers were seen in various spots along the wildlife drive.
I am pretty sure these are the Gadwall ducks..I do not mind if you need to correct any of my id's.. I can honestly say I know I have made id mistakes in the past..
A Northern Pintail is having a talk with the Gadwall ducks..
Above maybe an American Wigeon along with the gang of Gadwall ducks..Except for seeing some duck hunters we enjoyed our visit to the wildlife refuge... I hope you enjoyed your visit and my photos... As always I appreciate your nice comments..

ReplyDeleteI love seeing all the various species of ducks; I couldn't choose a favorite if I had to. They are all gorgeous creatures! :) Looks like a good-sized refuge for the birds.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful series of images of the ducks and birds.
I love the Pintail.
Have a very good weekend.
Best regards, Irma
Cute birds, and the second picture is great. Regards.
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen-love the photos.
ReplyDeleteI always find it crazy that they call them "wildlife refuges" and then all hunting. Seems to be a bit of an oxymoron!
Have a good weekend
The "Brig" is one of the great places I visited many times while living in New Jersey. My brother's back yard in Little Egg Harbor is just across from the refuge, so we have made a few more visits over the 50 years since we moved away.Your shots prove there is wonderful wildlife viewing there.
ReplyDeleteYou have so many wonderful birds overwintering in your area! I 'm looking forward to seeing them head north. :)
ReplyDeleteI love those flying birds, they look like specks of light.
ReplyDeleteOutstanding Eileen! You have some great pictures here. I have linked up. Thank you for hosting and have a great weekend :)
ReplyDeletei love all your duck shots! my favorite are the shots that include the female Merganser. what a wild hairdo! kind of punk!
ReplyDeletei like the three ducks that seem to be huddling together for a nap... and the one with all the birds taking flight is awesome..
ReplyDeleteGood morning, Eileen! Joining in today. Love your beautiful wetland birds and the wetlands thatmake their home. Great shots! Hope you aren't getting pounded with snow!
ReplyDeleteOh dear, seeing duck hunters while you're viewing the beautiful ducks does not sound like a good combination!! I hope you got the better "shots". Love these photos, and the little pintail looks like he's giving orders to the gadwalls ... so cute. Enjoy your weekend! Wendy x
ReplyDeleteI love the hairdos :)
ReplyDeleteAnd the picture with the many Dunlins in flight :)
Have a great weekend!

I know them as brown ducks, or black ducks, or white ducks. So you'll always be safe with me. I just love all nature, but don't need no names ;O)
ReplyDeleteEileen, what a variety of ducks. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeletelove the hoodies. and yes, i'd say those were gadwalls as we have them here, too. i almost thought they were wigeons in eclipse mode, myself. :)
ReplyDeleteEileen, I enjoy the ducks. Hubby belongs to Ducks Unlimited, so he has all these little miniatures that are so cute.

Beautiful birds in all posts of this week and like always, actually!! Lots of lovely ducks and birds I never knew or saw before, like for instance Hooded Mergansers or Gadwall ducks. In my post I found it and I posted an image of mallard ducks, more usually seen in our areas, in nature...

That shot of the Dunlins in flight is really gorgeous.

ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Eileen...
ReplyDeleteAwesome bird shots!
Hello, thanks but it is not my birthday.
DeleteHoping to post later today, Eileen, but want to comment for now. First, I trust your i.d.'s more than mine :) Interesting to see that you have many of the same ducks we are seeing here, though the Pintail is one I've only seen at Reifel Bird Sanctuary (we haven't been there for a couple of years now) so that one stood out. Always love the lady Mergansers' crazy "do's" and the Dunlins in flight always make my pulse quicken. They require a drive so we haven't seem them for a long time as well. All to say, I loved your post. Thanks so much for your faithful hosting and wonderful photographs!
ReplyDeletenice shot of the hooded mergansers
ReplyDeleteoh they are all so wonderful but that second shot, be still my heart....it is amazing!! i hope you survived the "snow"!!! more on monday i think!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the ducks..I know all those names but would have trouble matching them to a Duck!!! We were lucky with the snow..It was a night time event ..Now the sun is out..More Sun eve??
ReplyDeletefeathers must be wonderful things birds don't mind the cold or heat.
ReplyDeleteMerle..........
I love the eyes on the Hooded Mergansers. The rest of the ducks are beautiful as well. But something about those eyes fascinate me. Great pictures.
ReplyDeleteI saw a pair of Hooded Mergansers when I was in Seattle last year - just beautiful. The Gadwalls remind me of it too - a lovely post.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your ducky photos. Whenever I hear a flock of ducks in the distance, I go to the window hoping I'll get a glance of them. I'm always too late to run outside to look up.
ReplyDeleteI love all the duck photos - I've not seen Gadwells - but love their name. The Pintails overwinter here by the thousands - it is amazing.
ReplyDeletei love their eyes. so cool!! hope you are having a great weekend, Eileen!! take care. ( :
ReplyDeleteGreat series!
ReplyDeleteLovely shots. I watch ducks and geese from our window and marvel at how they thrive in the cold weather.
ReplyDeleteEileen, that's always nice to see your pictures. I love the ducks. They are so beautiful !
ReplyDeleteHave a happy Sunday :)
Another interesting collection of captures from your lens. Haha, someone obviously started a rumour that it was your BD but I know that it is retirement you are celebrating!
ReplyDeleteHave a good day.
Spot on with the names Eileen. Great photos.
ReplyDeleteVery nice captures of all the ducks!
ReplyDeleteIt is so interesting to see how ducks and geese thrive on the waters in winter. Great photos, Eileen!
ReplyDeleteDearest Eileen; Oh, how spectacular these geese and ducks must be seeing with your own eyes♡♡♡ And Hooded Mergansers couple is lovely; yes, female's hairdo is funny and I noticed the color difference of their of eyes♪
ReplyDeleteSending Lots of Love and Hugs from Japan to my Dear friend in America, xoxo Miyako*
HI Eileen I am home again, had a great time. Thanks for hosting and linking me in. These are all fabulous photographs in this post. Great close ups of the ducks. Have a wonderful week ahead.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty!
ReplyDeleteI like how you say that you enjoyed your day, except for seeing the bird hunters. You captured nice pictures of the water birds. I thought of you this weekend, as I was attempting to take pictures of a lot of birds in flight :)
ReplyDeleteI love you duck images...my favourites are no. 2 and no. 3. On my holiday I took lots of pics of ducks...most of them turned out very badly...but maybe I can find one that i can share next week. Thanks for your visit.
