Special thanks to all the wonderful host and their memes, I hope you have some time to check them out.
It was just a short ride to Frederick County, Maryland for our walk along the scenic Monocacy River. We saw the Barred Owl that has drawn the attention of a lot of Maryland birders. It sits in a tree just above and not far from the trail.
Above are some of the birds and scenes we saw during our outing. The first row is the Wood Duck couple, Second row is the Barred Owl, Third row, my guess a Red-shouldered Hawk and an Eastern Bluebird. Bottom row are the Bluebells and some turtles.
Barred Owl seen from the trail.
The female Wood Duck.
This is just my guess, a Red Shouldered Hawk, sorry about the tree branch in the way.
For Jesh's Seasons...The bluebells are blooming but they look a little damaged from the frosty night we had.
For Tom's Barn Collective I have a few drive by barn shots from our outing. I liked the barn with the green roof and brick silo.
A view of the walking trail at the Monocacy River. I hope you enjoyed our walk and my birds. Thank you for visiting and for the nice comments. As always, thanks to the wonderful group of hosts listed below.

Eileen, I always smile when I see your posts, because your photos are always so beautiful and I love the way your showcase them. Thank you so much for sharing.
If a wood duck could chuck wood
How much wood would a wood duck chuck?
I don't have a clue what made me write that.
:)
Eileen, you always find and capture the greatest wildlife. Thanks for sharing these well maintained barns. Have a wonderful week and I hope that you come back again.
A great outing and you did get some wonderful pictures. I love seeing the Barred Owl and the Red Shouldered Hawk looks just like the ones I have hanging around my back yard and chasing all my birds away!
Fun to see the owl, especially. We have been seeing blue birds here; they are so pretty. The brick silo is really interesting. Looks like you are enjoying pleasant weather. Wishing you a lovely week.
These are so gorgeous!
Always good to go for a walk in the woods with you.

Many thanks Eileen for being a part of SEASONS with the pretty bluebells (hardly damaged!), and love also the owl, the turtles, the hawk and the Eastern bluebird! All nature is beautiful in its own way:) Have a happy week!

Great series of photos! The Barred owl looks so wonderful. I like owls!
The hawk and the owl, so difficult to get them on a photo. I rarely see owls here and then....of course I have no camera with me. Great photos!
Enjoy your week, hope you have better weather than we have, hailstorms every few hours, the weather is ever so changeable here.
Regards, Janneke
That owl is gorgeous no wonder that he is well talked about! I rather like the extra something the frost gives to the bluebell skirts don't you?! :)
Have a happy week

The little wood duck with colorful wings is such a nice surprise in the woods. I would agree with you about that barn with the brick silo. So interesting. Have a happy Monday!
Wonderful photos, as always, Eileen!
The Barred Owl is beautiful and looks very much similar to its Eurasian cousin Strix uralensis.

Hi Eileen, Amazing nature photos!!!!! The owl really is something, I've always wanted to see on in a natural setting and I never have. Bluebells are always lovely I would love to take a walk on the trail by the river.
Thanks for sharing your photos……..
Beautiful mosaics, Eileen! How do you pronounce that name Monacacy? Is the stress on the first syllable or second? I have only heard it once and don't remember. (and pronunciation is a huge deal to me, who knows why. LOL)
Great shots, as always Eileen. But I love turtles, so was very happy to see them in your mosaic this morning!
Wonderful images....thank you Eileen!
Happy Monday!
Ruby

gorgeous blooms. I love the coloring on the wood duck, I've never seen that before!! love the owl 2. ( ;
Beautiful photos..Can't get enough of those Owls..
The owl looks smug and is that a snake the red shouldered hawk is eating? Wow, great captures as usual Eileen.
How lovely is the owl. I cannot say for sure that I have seen an owl in person.
Worth a Thousand Words
You always manage to spot a range of wildlife. Just can't resist the owl for first choice though.
Very nice. I really like the bluebells !
I love your wood ducks :)
Great bird shots as usual, Eileen!

I am claiming the Wood Duck . . .
Ducks seem to have such happy faces!
Love the barn with the green roof but I really love the owl you captured!
Love the shots, Eileen. I'm always jealous of people with owl pics.
Someday!
P.S. I see your hawk is eating a snake.

Looking at the owl's face, I can see why the phrase "the wise old owl" came to be. I have some animal shots today. They're very amateur compared to yours, but you might like to see some very different creatures than those close to home :-)
Great shots, I love the owl shots very much.
Love the variety of birds here. :) Great captures.
Hi Eileen,
Very nice photos!
I particularly enjoyed the various Owl photos - terrific!
Have a Happy Week ahead!!
Peace :)
I like the ability you have to spot and photograph birds. The other day I captured a woodpecker and felt so happy.
What fabulous shots.
That owl is a charmer! He looks to be half awake, half dozing. Love the farms and barns and those pretty bluebells!
Love those owl shots and the turtles too. Have a great day!
Love that owl, so very cute, as if it is enticing everyone as a kid.

Hello Eileen,
Great sightings!
The Barred owl is fantastic, he let you get quite close!
The hawk also is impressive, never mind the branch, it happens regularly to everyone and a shot is better than none... LOL!
Warm hugs and enjoy your week :)
Hi Eileen,
fabulous photos of the different birds and the owl, also the landscape and nature around you. Amazing !
Best regards, Synnöve
Stunning photos of the Barred Owl and Red Shouldered Hawk.

Excelente trabalho e belas fotografias.
Um abraço e continuação de uma boa semana.
Amazing photos! Such beautiful birds! I fell in love with the owl! ;)
Hi Eileen,
Great series of photos.
The Barred owl looks so wonderful.
Best regards, Irma
Is this a different Barred Owl than you posted awhile ago? You are lucky to be able to spot so many. Here, they hang in the deeper woods and are hard to find. All of your birds are cool, and I agree, Red Shouldered Hawk. Nice series again, Eileen. Have a great week :)
Andrea @ From The Sol
Your collages are always precious. Beautiful owl, Eileen, and I love the bells.
Buen martes ;)
Besos.
LOVE the red-shouldered hawk. Such a pretty shot! And those bluebells. Every photo, lovely!
lovely photos, specially the sleepy looking owl!
These are some fantastic shots. Maryland is quite close to us as we are in NJ. So, perhaps we should visit it. How do you find all these beautiful places?
Wonderful photos . Looks like a nice place to walk and take photos . Thanks for sharing . Have a good day !
My favourite is the Owl Eileen
Nice work Eileen. Yet another great place to spend quality time and quality birds. The owl is a beauty and how nice to see a bird that doesn't fly away as soon as we pick up the camera.
Enjoy the remiander of your week.
Beautiful photos of birds and flowers!
Oh well, I am sorry, I have missed this one. Anyway, it is beautiful, the Hawk, Barred Owl and there are more.
Nice series of photos.
A nice collection of shots here Eileen - I particularly like the Eastern Bluebird (gorgeous colouring) and the Owl. Thank you for sharing your outing. Wishing you a happy week.
Love the owl! Wonderful and well composed nature shots!
Happy Week to you ~ ^_^
A great collection of birds and nature photos.
I adore VA bluebells...mine are growing but not quite in bloom yet. Love the menagerie of animals and especially the bluebird.

Cool owl & hawk shots.
Nice barns for the barn meme.
The Owl and Red-shouldered Hawk are fabulous!! I loved walking "with" you!
Wow...wonderful selection Eileen..... Michelle
Wonderful series. Have a good week!
Stunning pictures of the Owl Eileen. Superb!
Beautiful bluebell image!! Gives me a sense of peace and quiet along with their fragile beauty. Loved all the birds today...especially the hawk, the wood ducks. The ducks are scarce in 'my neck of the woods'...so a very special treat on your post.
What a lovely area...my favorite here is that owl! :)
The owl just melts my heart! He looks so wise! I only had one quick glimpse of him, but an owl lived in our woods last year and I loved the sound of his hoot at night. I did have to worry about keeping our cats off the deck though! I think he's moved on, since I've not heard a sound from him lately, and I really do miss that!
Boa tarde, maravilhosa selecção de fotos, as das aves são especiais.

Oh Eileen, I'd love to spend time walking with you and your camera! I'll bring mine along and I know it would a wonderful. All of your photographs are just amazing!

All the best Jan
Wow you get a LOT of comments!!
Nice to get caught up with you and to enjoy all your lovely photos. : )
A lovely walk and some amazing photos of wildlife. I love the bluebird, but that owl would be wonderful to sight!
The snap of the owl is very cute. I have a friend who love owl a lot.
What a wonderful collection of birds - makes me realise I have not seen an owl for ages!
Cheers - Stewart M - Melbourne
I do hope you find me down here, Eileen; what an impressive list of comments. You have photographed two of my favorites, an owl and a wood duck. Wood ducks do live in Colorado, but not here in the northern part. We have barn owls but we don't see them, and there is a nesting pair of Great Horned owls. We hear them at night, but haven't figured out where their nest is. The begin in February. My husband sees hears them all of the time.Great photos, once again.
Perfect eastern bird collection. The Barred Owls are fantastic....and so are the Wood Ducks. Two of my favorite birds. Spring has arrived for you. Have a great weekend and find lots of great birds!
A lot of birds and gorgeous photos of them all. I love owls! We don't get to see them in person very often, but it's always a treat when it happens.
Beautiful series. I especially love the owls.
always a pleasure to come over and see what you have been pointing your camera at! Happy Days!
A short ride... which gave us so much to see!...
Lovely photos! And wonderful details from the birds...
Just beautful!!!
