Hello,
On June 6th hubby and I went on a daytrip to Shenandoah National Park. We walked on my favorite Limberlost Trail and drove on the Skyline Drive as far south as the Big Meadows. We had a late lunch at their camp store and restaurant before heading back north on the Skyline Drive and homeward bound.
On the Limberlost Trail we saw and heard a lot of American Redstarts. This is the male above.
In my mosaic above are some wildflowers and birds we saw during our visit to the park. The birds are the American Redstart, Scarlet Tanager, Eastern Towhee and the Cedar Waxwing.
A pretty blue sky and the Scarlet Tananger.
I believe these were wild Columbine flowers growing along the Limberlost trail.
A view of the Appalachian mountains from the range view overlook. I hope you enjoyed my post and my views of Shenandoah Nat'l Park.
For Tom's Barn Collective, on the way home I have a drive by shot from our daytrip to Shenandoah.
Thank you for visiting and for the nice comments. As always, thanks to the wonderful group of hosts listed below.
Here is a list of linky parties for part of the week, Sunday thru Wednesday. I hope to see you there.
Thanks to Tom the host of the The Barn Collective

Thank you for these touches of loveliness
Hi Eileen, I enjoyed all your photos here. My favorite (hard to choose ... they are all good) is the wild Columbine. Thanks for sharing your visit to the Park. Wishing you a happy week ahead!
That is a very interesting barn, and the wildflowers are lovely.
Twelve wonderful photos in the mosaic!
Have a great week!

The park is wonderful. We often hear of such places this far west, so it is nice to it for real. The birds are quite exciting. I'd love to see the scale tanager in the wild. we see the towhee here in the spring, rarely, but we do see them as they pass through. I just love your bird photos.
May your week be full of blue skies and wonderful critters to spot!

Lovely birds and flowers!
Beautiful pictures Eileen. I wish we were just a little closer to the skyline Drive. Beautiful scenery especially in the fall. I hope you have a good week .
Eileen, what a collection of beautiful nature shots and then capped off with a lovely white barn. You have it all! Thanks for sharing and I hope that there are more barns along your way.
What a beautiful trail. I can see why it's one of your favourites.
I was there, years ago. Such a beautiful place!
Hi, You are so lucky to get to take Day trips to Skyline Drive. We LOVE that area --but don't get there nearly as much as we wish we could. The wild flowers and of course, the birds --and the gorgeous VIEWS make a trip like that worthwhile.
Hugs,
Betsy
Beautuful,photos and views . . .
And yes to the wild columbine . . .
Another enjoyable series of photos! We were over around Front Royal today, it would have been a perfect day to enjoy Skyline drive, but we just couldn't fit it in. Next time! I hope you've had a great weekend, the weather sure has been wonderful, hasn't it?
Thank-you for sharing your visit to the park. Beautiful photos of the birds & wildflowers!

Wow, gorgeous photos, Eileen! I especially love the birds.
Have a great week!
Buddy is always up in the Shenandoah National Park hiking and picking up and transporting AT hikers from A to B locations. He keeps promising to take me and let me stay in the OLD hotel, but I am still waiting. The best I have gotten to do is ride thru it. I did go to Big Meadows years ago. Your collection of picture is beautiful. Lovely shots of the birds...and the barn is a real collector. White barns are few and far between to find. This is a really nice one. Have a wonderful week. Pray the rain does hot inundate us again...tho the weather forecast is not good. Poor West VA. They cannot take anymore. Am wondering if the big golf tournament will be able to do ahead at the Greenbriar. What a disappointment for the fans if it does not. Have a wonderful week. Genie
That's a beautiful part of our country and you saw a lot on your drive. The Scarlet tanager was quite a neat sighting! And I love the different wild flowers you see in those mountains. Enjoy your day! Hugs, Diane

Columbines don't seem to do too well in our heavy clay soil and when I see pretty pink ones in the wild as you've captured I suppose this is how I'll have to enjoy them.
