Circle B Bar Reserve, Lakeland Florida

Hello

First I want to thank Maggie of Normandy Life she is the new host of Mosaic Monday. Can you believe tomorrow will be August, where did the summer go?

During our visit to Florida I managed to fit in some time for birding. The Circle B Bar Reserve in Lakeland Florida is one of my favorite spots. I love the gorgeous trees with the spanish moss and the birds are just awesome. I am sharing some of the scenes and birds we saw there during our short morning walk.

I love the moss covered trees and bottom right corner is a Great Blue Heron.

As I walked on the trail in the photo above this snake crossed in front of me. Thanks to Sandra the Mad Snapper for the id. She told me it is the poisonous Coral Snake. It is a colorful snake, I am glad I used the zoom on my camera.

Coral Snake rhyme: Red touches yellow, dangerous fellow. Red touches black, friend to Jack

One of my favorite herons, the Green Heron seen right off the trail.

The Common Moorhen was seen often, their population must be booming.

Common Moorhen family.

Swallowtail butterfly.  It was a hot day so we only spent a short time at the Circle B Bar reserve but during the short time we enjoyed all these nature scenes.

Here is my list of memes for the week, I hope you can check one or some of these fun memes and the participants post. Have a great new week ahead!

Not sure which Damselfly?

Male Downy woodpecker. Tractor Supply started selling these suet balls, perfect size for this feeder. The birds loved the suet too.

York PA rookery

 Hello,

This year we only visited the York PA rookery a couple of times. We did manage a visit on June 11th. The Black Crowned Night Herons and the Great Egrets had some competition with a nearby Great Horned Owl nest. We were told that this year there were not as many nest because of the nearby owl.

The Great Egrets seem to be doing well at this York, Pennsylvania rookery.

Two Great Egrets chicks on the nest.

Two Black Crowned Night Herons at or near their nest.

A Black Crowned Night Heron playing peek-a-boo.

The Great Egrets chicks almost look like adults at this time. You can still see a little fuzz on their heads.

Two Black Crowned Night Heron Chicks, one chick only has it's head showing on the right.

A view of park and lake, the trees around this lake hold the rookery. We also saw lots of Mallard, hybrid ducks and Canada Geese.

For Tom's Barn Collective, I have another local barn/farm in our neighborhood. I hope you enjoyed our visit to the rookery.

Thank you for visiting and for the nice comments. As always, thanks to the wonderful group of hosts listed below.

Here is a list of linky parties for part of the week, Sunday thru Wednesday. I hope to see you there.

Saturday's Critters #134

Happy Saturday, it's time to share your critters and post. Any kind of critter will do, even a new or old post.. I appreciate everyone who is linking in with this week's critter party.

Sharing some butterflies and birds seen during one of my walks on the near by fire road. I also saw some turtles at our lake.

This is the female Eastern Tiger Swallowtail, the male is a pretty yellow color.

I am pretty sure this is the Great Spangled Fritillary.

Turtles on a tree hanging out of the lake, another turtle close by the shore and a Louisiana Waterthrush seen during my walk to the lake.

The Ovenbirds are a common breeder bird seen and heard in the woods adjacent to our house.

The Scarlet Tanager  is a another breeder in the woods next to our property.

In the same tree as the Scarlet Tanager I watched the Cedar Waxwings and there was a Baltimore Oriole that skipped the scene when I snapped the pic. There are two Waxwings on the left of the photo and one just about to eat a berry on the right side of the photo.

As always thanks for the visits and the nice comments. I also thank everyone who is linking up and sharing their critters.. Happy Saturday, have a great weekend!
