Hello,
I will never forget Sept 11, 2001. God Bless us all!
Lately our walks have been closer to home, on the fire roads and to the lake. Here are some views of our lake, some shots from my yard sharing more butterflies and birds.
One of my Ruby-throated Hummingbirds. They can be pretty feisty, I watched this hummer chasing other birds and even butterflies away from it's feeder.
A walk to the lake, we saw and heard a lot of birds and it was a lovely day for a walk. Top right is a Cormorant flying away, Bottom row possibly a Common Yellowthroat Warbler and an unknown Flycatcher.
A view of our lake.
Below, the female (top) and the male (bottom) Eastern Tiger Swallowtail Butterflies.
The Chipping Sparrows are one of my common yardbirds this summer.
I wanted to share the giveaway gift I won on Jemma's blog I love the pretty towel set, spatula and the gorgeous sunflower print. Thanks Jemma! I hope you can visit her blog, Jemma shares many decorating tips, recipes and crafting ideas.
Here is another local barn in nearby Carroll County, A drive by shot during one of our outings.
More on what I have been reading, I enjoyed and actually laughed out loud at Jana DeLeon's "Ghost in Law" series. I read all 6 books in the humorous fun Mudbug series. Helena the MIL ghost was just hysterical.
As always, I thank you for visiting and as always thank you for the nice comments. Have a great day and new week ahead!
Here is my list of memes for the week, I hope you can check one or some of these fun memes and the participants post.

The new header is a visual delight... gorgeous countryside you live in Eileen!!! YAM xx
I could live in that barn, so quiet and peaceful all around, A lovely gift in the mail, and 9/11, today I read of the dogs who searched, saw photos, and the story of one, who lived long, and died earlier this year. Tributes have gone to so many, the people, the dogs, their handlers. fire service men and women, police and the everyday people, who all contributed so much. I remember the planes who were diverted to Gander, Newfoundland, and after passengers from the 53 planes that landed there, the population doubled from its usual 10,400 ( an extra 10,500 passengers). They were taken into homes, hotels, motels, and cared for totally, by strangers who became friends. Schools and colleges were vacated by pupils, IT rooms made available, and trips and outings arranged.buses took them all back to the airfield at the arranged time, like
clockwork.Huge organisation behind the scenes, and I wouldn't have known any of this without the internet. This shows kindness can be anywhere in our world.
I always hope that peace will prevail. Hugs to you from a quiet and peaceful NZ.
You teach and touch me every day, Eileen <3
A great collection including that barn that looks like it could be an institution/school.
Eileen, thanks for sharing this elaborate barn, a style that I would never see is this area. Red and white certainly makes a statement. I hope that many more barns are along your journey. As always thanks for your visits.
Eileen, I feel as though I took this walk with you! Everything is gorgeous! I, too, remember September 11, 2001, and even though I live in Canada, I remember exactly where I was when the horrific news broke out...I also remember not only the people were were impacted by this but the animals as well. Peace, love and hugs to you, dear Eileen.
Thank you so much for all your lovely photos.
yes we will never forget 9/11.. Lovely to have the lake quite near you Eileen and those are gorgeous butterflies as well as the Hummer
Love the little sparrow. (I want that barn!!) Hope you have a great week. 😊
Those hummers are one of a kind!! They are the smallest birds out there and they act like who they are. You image is awesome!! I don't have any idea how you are capturing the butterflies, I have a post tomorrow about mine, I really can't get a decent picture!!
On this sad day, you found hope
Love your header..Still no butterflies here altho they are in the neighborhood..Several blocks away there are Giant Swallowtails which I have not been fortunate enough to see..Great pictures..
A lovely post Eileen.
Hummingbird is fantastic. Great shot.
Nice to see the hummer. I have had more this year than ever before. Can't say why, but I do enjoy them. Have a great week!
There's so much beauty right in our own neighborhoods. Thank you for the lovely post.
Great hummingbird photo!
A lot of remembrances today, and I'm again reminded of how much was lost and how many lives changed forever.
Your series of photos are as always a tribute to your great eye for taking photos! I love the butterflies, and will admit, that I didn't know the difference between "the boys and girls" Swallowtails. So, you have taught me something - THANKS for that!! :-)
Your lake is beautiful and peaceful, and your countryside looks so fresh. You have some precious birds and butterflies. Have a nice evening.
That Hummingbird is such a cutie, should like to have them here they fascinate me. I always like to see another barn on your blog, you must have already quite a collection.

Great post - I remember that day, even if I was half a world away.

Hi,Eileen,
Such beautiful photos! Your hummingbird and sparrow are so pretty. They are lucky to live in that clean and beautiful nature.Have a good new week!
Lovely vistas, birds and butterflies, barns and trails . . .
Always such wonderful photos . . ,
9/11 brings it all back . . . such tragedy . . ,
I remember being with my youngest grandson that day and now he is a senior in HS.
Fifteen years seems like yesterday . . .
Wow - stunning photos!
Such beautiful shots, Eileen!
Hello Eileen and I have to say your photos of the butterflies are really fantastic! The nearby lake is a wonderful haven for wildlife and bird sightings.
Such an unusual but pretty barn, great find!
Have a fun week!
Such a pretty and varied post. The barn is beautiful. Love all of that red and white...very pristine looking. I really like the ones wth the white trim around the windows and the red paint on the structure. They are so perky and pretty. genie
You live in a beautiful area to walk and photograph nature Eileen. I have been enjoying the butterfly shots on FB as we have had next to none this summer.
Lovely photos, specially the hummer, what a beautiful bird!
Now I'll have to look for those books! Have your read any of the David Rosenfelt books...the Andy Carpenter series? I think you would like it! LOVE that big barn! WOW! Hugs!
Hello Eileen, how are you? I'm sorry I didn't come here sooner, but you know I love your blog. Many situations have passed and I'm returning with calm. I love all the pictures! Never forget September 11 there's 15 years ago. My eldest son had passed there eight days before. Beautiful gift from your friend! Magnificent sunflower. I wish you a good week.
Very nice ! I love the barn !
There's something very calming about water. A walk outside is lovely, but when there's water nearby it's even better. :-)
It will have an impact for years and years to come. I remember what I was doing when I saw that and completely clueless as to what was happening.
Magnificent photography of nature as always and congrats on those lovely items you won!
Happy Creating ~ ^_^
Lovely photos - the "feisty" hummingbird is beautiful
Pretty hummingbird, a nice mosaic of your walking area, congrats on the blog win and I liked your scene at the end too.
Eileen, Your bird photos are always so great. Love the hummingbird. Sylvia D.
I so enjoyed walking around your "neighbourhood" today, guess I'm just nosy but I do like to see where other MM'ers live!
The butterfly mosaic is so pretty, wouldn't it make a wonderful notecard cover.
You see the most spectacular butterflies on your walks. Thanks for sharing.
We must never forget 9/11 Eileen. I remember exactly where I was that tragic and awful day.
I really like that picture of the hummer relaxing on the branch, and of course all the other pictures too, especially the swallowtails. Enjoy the rest of your week.
Cute Sparrow, and really great Hummingbird portrait!
Love the butterflies, too!

Beautiful scenery and cool barn!
The butterflies are spectacular and the green hummingbird so cute. Your photos are always fun to watch. Enjoy your week.
Well, hello there, neighbor! I live not too far from you in White Hall, Maryland. We certainly live in a beautiful part of the state! Have a beautiful day! P.S. I love your lake...so lucky!
You have such a lovely walk to the lake and birding as well, Eileen! I just walk around my yard a lot while working, but I do get to see a lot of hummer action thanks to my runner beans and other hummingbird delights. This time of year the Pileated Woodpeckers come and eat my apples, too.
What a beautiful place to call home! Your photos are always spectacular....LOVE that darling little hummer!
love the butterfly & hummingbird shots. so cute. have a great week! ( ;
God Bless us all indeed and your photos show His blessings :)
I remember being at work...we saw the news / some of us were outside on the front porch area... the other plane flew over. ( the Shanksville one )
It was awful...were we being attacked here in PA too? If THAT was the case, we thought the entire country might be under attack at the same time. It was so scary / crazy/ horrible...customers from around the world emailing and calling...having the Net and the TV on in the conference room trying to determine what was happening. No, I'll never forget!
Your photos are wonderful.
I think I could live in that barn!!!
Your yard is so beautiful and full of life! And you find the best on your drives and walks, whether close to home or far. Lovely post altogether (and the reminder of 9/11 is perfect even though I'm reading it late -- it is perfect for any and every day.
You live in a very beautiful place. The lake looks like a great place for birds and wildlife to hang out and pose for photos.
you got some awesome photos, I love the little green bird at the top :-)
Great photos! The hummingbirds are so beautiful birds. I wish that someday I will see hummingbird… Have a nice week!

Hi Eileen,
marvelous photos around your lake and the nature around you. Fabulous photos of the birds and butterflies too.
Best, Synnöve
What a nice giveaway you won! And I always enjoy your bird photos. I had no idea that hummingbirds would be feisty. I always thought they would just hum and get out of the way of anyone else. Interesting tidbit! Have a wonderful day. xo
Que casa linda.
Amei as imagens.
Abraços
janicce.
That hummingbird looks like he's giving you the evil eye! I notice some birds have been molting lately. It makes it difficult to ID the birds when they go into their winter colouring. Love that pretty lake. You are very fortunate to have such a lot of water near you to attract your feathered friends ;)
Wendy
Hi! The birds are very cute. I felt you would live an ideal area. Thanks for sharing.
Those chipping sparrows have such cute faces. You're lucky to live so close to the lake.
Gorgeous hummer and butterflies! And such a beautiful lake as well. What a wonderful win, too...what fun! Thanks for your comments on my blog lately. I've been away more than I've been here, but I try! :-)
Looks like a nice weekend of birding.
A beautiful walk, Eileen and some wonderful winged friends you have captured. I had no idea male and female butterflies looked different! I always learn something when I come to visit :) Love the barn! Hope you are having a good week. xx Karen
Love your lake. I would love to stroll around it with you a listen to the birds. Great shot of the hummer
Super collection here Eileen.
I love your butterflies, your lake, your barn ... well all your photo's.
Do hope your week, so far, has been a good one.
All the best Jan
