Hello,
"You will never have this day again, so make it count." unknown
Wow, can you believe it is almost the end of 2016. I wish everyone a very Happy, Healthy New Year. I want to thank everyone who has visited my blog and commented over the past year. I hope to see you all in 2017.
These are images from our neighborhood, a sunrise on Nov 7th, the neighborhood Sandhill Cranes and Red Shouldered Hawk
It was a beautiful sunrise on our way to the gym.
I believe this is a Red-Shouldered Hawk, we have a nesting couple that terrorize the neighborhood birds.
The Sandhill Cranes near my sunrise viewing spot.
The Sandhill Cranes walk all around the houses and in the streets. This is their neighborhood too.
For Michelle's Thankful Thursday, here is my list of thankful things. Simple things that we may all take for granted.
Fresh air to breath
Clean drinking water
Sunshine that brightens my day
A good book
Friendly neighbors

ReplyDeleteBoy, those are some human-acclimated cranes!
Those cranes are so regal. Love your quote at the beginning. Happy New Year Eileen, may you have many wonderful days of birding, travels and enjoyment wherever you are.
ReplyDeleteWe have a raptor hanging around my neighborhood too... saw it this morning, after hearing the crows alerting everyone for quite a little while. Ugh! It seems as if the Sandhill Cranes are not afraid of humans... interesting! Wishing you a Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos !!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year !!
What a sunset! And the birds are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteIt is a messy slushy day here so it was a treat to see your post today, Eileen! Happy New Year!

Great shots of the terrorizing Hawk! I love how those Cranes wander around everywhere... a bit like the Pelicans over in our Lakes area.
Cheers now and all the best.

ReplyDeleteThe sunrise is spectacular and those cranes ... well, I've never seen photo's quite like it, amazing. They really are quite large aren't they!
As the end of 2016 draws near, I hope these last few days are good for you.
Sending my good wishes for a Happy and Healthy 2017.

Hi Eileen, Thank you for another neat post. I enjoyed all the photos especially the Sand Hill Cranes. They are some interesting birds! I like your list of things to be thankful for. So true. And the opening quotation is excellent as well. It has been a pleasure following your blog in 2016 and I'm looking forward now to your posts in 2017. Happy New Year to you and yours. Best regards from Seattle!
ReplyDeleteIt's been an eventful year, hasn't it? I'm so glad you are here in FL now...I just know you enjoy the wildlife and birds as much as I do. There's always something to see. We hung another feeder up this week for all the goldfinches that are here now. Happy New year sweet friend. Hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed your blog so much this year. Looking forward to your posts in 2017. Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteYou do get some colourful sunrise/sunset photos, and it's lovely to see the Sandhill Cranes as they're a bird I have seen in Alaska.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful images. The red shouldered hawks rule everything here also. Every once in a while a sharp shinned hawk shows up. It is funny because the birds disappear and the squirrels don't run but they do keep an eye on it. I don't think I have ever seen a Sandhill Crane live but hope to one day.
ReplyDeleteDear Eileen, Happy New Year 2017! Lovely photos...
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful shots! Wishing you and yours a glittery and happy new year!
ReplyDeleteAmazing sunrise view! Happy New year Eileen!

Such lovely photos and thoughts of gratefulness to accompany them :) Sometimes in the morning I remind myself in the shower " this is the day that the Lord has made" and I just review the simple blessings of being born in America standing under a hot shower.
ReplyDeleteSo much of the world doesn't even have that.
Wonderfully captured!
ReplyDeleteWish you a Brilliant 2017!
They are so serene and beautiful..

Enjoy that Lakeland, Florida warmth!
Love sunrise photos. I would love to have the beautiful birds strolling in my neighbourhood too but it would be so unsafe for them with so many cars on the road. Wishing you a happy and blessed new year on this last day of 2016!
ReplyDeleteI love those sky shots... beautiful colors! Have a happy new year!!
ReplyDeleteLove your sunrise shots - much more subtle than sunset somehow. Those cranes are amazing. are they at all aggressive?
