Saturday's Critters #165

Saturday's Critters #165

Happy Saturday, it's time to share your critters and post. Any kind of critter will do, even a new or old post.. I appreciate everyone who is linking in with this week's critter party.

These are some images from our visit to Ding Darling wildlife refuge in Sanibel Island, Florida. This was an overnight trip and we were able to visit some various parks and preserves.

A couple of Roseate Spoonbills seen from the Ding Darling wildlife drive.

I believe this is a juvenile Yellow-crowned Night Heron.

Adult Yellow-crowned Night Heron with a crab.

American White Pelicans.

Various birds seen from the wildlife drive.

I hope you enjoyed this visit to Ding Darling and my bird photos.

As always thanks for the visits and the nice comments. I also thank everyone who is linking up and sharing their critters.. Happy Saturday, have a great weekend!

  4. Hi Eileen, I look forward to your wonderful photos. Heron continue to be my favourite bird, sometimes one will fly over our house and land on the roof of the back shed - the neighbours have a pond that may still have fish.

  18. Love those spoonbills! The photo of the night-heron with the crab is very interesting. It must have had to crack its shell. Sanibel is a great place. We are looking forward to spending a few days there with our daughter and family the week after Easter. Ding Darling and Lighthouse Point are favorite birding spots.

  26. I remember well the first time I ever went to Ding Darling NWR and how gobsmacked I was by the Roseate Spoonbills. At the time it was my first species of spoonbill ever - what a spectacular introduction to the family. A friend of mine visited Ding Darling a few years ago and said that the bird life was sparse after direct hits by a couple of hurricanes. Judging by your excellent pictures it looks as though everything is back to normal.
