Backyard Bird Watching

Happy Monday, have a great day!
My world consists of me enjoying and watching the birds, it is a relaxing hobby and I enjoy taking their photos. I have various yard birds to share. I was tired of seeing the squirrels taking over my feeders and purchased a Squirrel Buster Bird feeder. So far it is working, it will close if a squirrel decides to hang on it.

Just 15 minutes after hanging my squirrel proof feeder I had a Chickadee captured mid-air visiting my new feeder.

Two Tufted Titmouse sharing space on the new feeder.

The White-breasted Nuthatch sat in front of some suet nuggets and would not leave. I think it was saying " all mine".

One day the Tufted Titmouse flew into my dining room window, it appeared to be stunned but was ok and left a little later.

The Northern Mockingbird

The White-throated Sparrow

Here is a cute American Goldfinch.

I hope you enjoyed my yard birds, I have always enjoyed seeing the birds visiting my yard. Beside the feeder, we have plenty of wild berries and water for the birds.

As always I thank you for stopping by and as always I appreciate your comments.

My list of memes for today, I hope to see you there. Thanks to both of the host below.

Good morning Eileen: I use those squirrel buster feeders and find them very effective. However, marauding raccoons are a different matter! I have taken to bringing my feeders in at night and setting them out again in the morning. Last night I forgot, so we'll see what is strewn all over the ground this morning.

I also enjoy seeing the birds and hearing their different songs. I'm glad they all love your new feeder. Hope you have a wonderful day.

I liked seeing your backyard birds . . .
Squirrel proofed too . . .

I do enjoy watching the antics and movements of the squirrels
but wish they would find their “own table.”
If I put food out for just the squirrels, it brings all the friends, cousins, aunts, uncles!

Quietly . . shhhhhh . . . our new Squirrel Buster is working . . .
The squirrels nibble away at what has fallen to the ground though!

Happy December Days Eileen . . .

I love the chickadees. They're so pretty! And now I know what a tufted titmouse and nuthatch are -- I think we have those, too!

That chikadee is levitating!

What delightful photos of birds around your yard. We have problems with not squirrels, but raccoons. We have just come to the conclusion that they are just smarter than we are. I’m glad you solved your squirrel problem. Beautiful, beautiful birds!!

Hello,

Beautiful photos from your yard. I love to watch birds too. I have two squirrels here, and they are eating a lot of from the birdfeeders. But they are hungry too.
Happy Monday!

Hello Eileen,
What a beautiful series of photos of the different species of birds.
The squirrel does not occur where I live, but in the middle of the country there is a large nature area, there they are.
Best regards, Irma

Wow great shots, especially that first one of the chickadee!!

That is such a great idea, and the birds have all the feed they want. Looks like it was so popular from the first minute.Super photos with all their names, most of them we do not see down here.

I love seeing your photos of local birds. I'm learning what is here. I was pretty good identifying Florida birds. I have a LOT to learn about PA birds.

My favorite from this post is the "incoming" bird.

Oh how I love your back yard!! The birds are wonderful -- I hope the squirrels don't ever figure out how to get into that feederQ

I think i could watch those birds all day long. You have a wonderful variety that enjoy your yard.

Those squirrels are quite, but they are indeed pesky.

I have been trying to make up my mind if I am going to try feeding again...I miss it so, but the starlings got till they just came and a feeder would be empty in an hour or two. I don't mind a few, but the swarms I will not feed.

Pat @ Mille Fiori Favoriti said...

I need a feeder like this, Eileen, as the squirrels that live in my yard are very aggressive and will eat all the bird seed I put out almost immediately. I've been seeing quite a lot of chickadees lately --they are so tiny and cute!

You get some birds we never see in the winter.

Yay for the squirrel busting bird feeder invention - clever! Much as I love the antics of the squirrels it is good to see the little birds getting a look in!
Have a lovely day.

Eileen - white-throated sparrow is my favorite from this grouping. My feeder has been mobbed by chickadees lately - perhaps other food sources are getting tougher to come by!

You have so many beautiful birds visiting your backyard Eileen!! I so wish I had a nuthatch visit my garden. I did spot a jay the other day which was indeed a surprise. It was too quick for me to catch it on camera though! Have a wonderful weekend :)

You know how much I love my Backyard Birds.... We have similar ones to yours... But that pretty Sparrow is gorgeous... I've never seen one that colorful... NEAT....

We have our Christmas Tree inside the sliding door near the bird feeders --and several birds have hit the window recently (more than usual)... I think it's because they see the tree --and try to fly to it.... So far, none of the birds have gotten hurt (thank goodness)....

Hugs,
Betsy

I use those little squirrel busters too. I will say that it will close, but if they can get up to the hanger, they just lift it and drop it down. They are clever and determined. Mine are under my deck eve so they can't get to it easily...but I feel them....This is the feeder that holds sunflower hearts that a pileated woodpecker manages to use....Michelle
