  11. Love your birds! Thanks for hosting Saturday's Critters
To answer your question (on my blog) about Sandhill Cranes - I have never seen one. Looking at their migration map, they are more likely to be seen farther along the Tennessee River to the east of us. But it is possible some might be seen near Pickwick Lake (Tennessee). We are meeting friends at the Pickwick Inn for lunch on Monday. You can be sure I will be looking. I even take my camera into the dining room, so if anything flies by the large windows, I have a chance to get a photo. My friends think I am odd, but they love me anyway!
    Have a wonderful week-end!

  21. Good Morning Eileen. Thank you once again for hosting your critter party. It's so good to see the variety of birds you attract to your yard. I especially love that picture of the mockingbird taking a drink. Have a great week ahead and happy birding.

  22. Beautiful shots, Eileen! Have a nice day!

  23. The little nuthatch is always fun to watch. We have 2 feeders out and we spread a little on the ground for the chipping sparrows. It's so much fun to watch birds come to the feeders. Enjoy your day! Stay warm. Hugs, Diane

  24. Nice range of species with a more southern flavour than we experience here in Ontario. A Tufted Titmouse at my feeders would be cause for a drum roll!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Great variety of birds! I wish the nuthatches would visit here, but I've only seen one once. They're one of my favorites.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Such amazing birdies you capture!

  27. What a magnificent blue jay. I have to say those birds are going through seed like crazy people this year. Well, the squirrel doesn't help. He's mastered climbing the squirel baffle. I suppose he's hungry too... and it's so very cold.

    ReplyDelete
  28. we see/feed all of the same backyard birds!! i have not seen any mockingbirds since it got so cold and i only have one juno in the yard. the juno is not coming in close!!

i also noticed that i only had one bluejay on my snow day, that was so odd, i usually have so many!!! you got some great images, i need to get a heated birdbath, mine is frozen solid. (i know i said that last year and never did it)!!

many thanks for hosting us bird lovers, have a wonderful weekend!!!

  29. The close-up of the jay shows off the many shades of blue and the beautiful details God put in his creation!

  30. You ever wonder why Nature gave the most beautiful song bird such a common look?

    Loved your photos

    ReplyDelete
  31. That Blue Jay is beautiful. Too bad it is so common that we may not stop to appreciate its beauty. We would almost need a bird bath heater here in south Florida, as the temperature dived into the low 40s F.

    ReplyDelete
  32. The Northern Mockingbird on the bird bath ( Heated!!!) is beautiful. I cannot imagine having to keep it heated, but I know Jenn in Ontario does too, Down here, ours seldom freeze, and if they do,maybe for a day, or melt later in the morning. You have a great variety, and their feathers are truly lovely in the close-ups.

  33. Good morning Eileen, I had to post on time since I have the weekend off! Your birds today, (I adore Blue Jays) even if they are the biggest thieves when it comes to peanuts, and noisy but they are just a beautiful bird. Enjoy your weekend and stay warm and happy!

  36. Lovely bird photos ~ great capture of the woodpecker at the suet feeder ~ I keep trying but feeder seems too close to house ~ they move the minute I make the least bit of noise

    Happy Week ahead to you,

  41. Good day Eileen.....so nice to see your lovely bird photos. Those Blue Jays can be nasty creatures. We have 3 that keep chasing our little birds away lately. I don't like hearing their squawking out there. Have a wonderful evening.

  42. You captured some great shots of your backyard birds.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Nice variety at the feeder. I still don't have any takers at my feeder and it's been about a month now. I don't know how to lure them in. Surely one day soon they will find it.

    ReplyDelete
