Hello and happy Monday everyone.
These are photos from our road trip and visit to Mammoth Cave National Park on May 4-7. On May 5th hubby and I had reserved a cave tour called the Frozen Niagara. The tour lasted 1 hour 15 minutes, we were taken by bus to the cave entrance.
Mammoth Caves are known for their big rooms, this Frozen Niagara tour took us into an area that has some pretty cave decorations.
This was the wettest day on our trip, Kentucky received 3 inches of rain and it was the day of the Kentucky Derby. A rainy day was a good day to be inside the caves, no rain there!
Not too many steps on this tour, we picked this tour because it described as one of the more decorated sections of the cave.

Outside the cave at the Sloan's Crossing Pond, we took a short loop walk around this pond in the park. I did see a couple of Wood Ducks with ducklings. They hid quickly in the reeds.
Rain drops keep falling on my head, lol. Are you familiar with the BJ Thomas song?

The following day hubby took the Historic Tour which was two hours, during that time I went on an easy hike and did some birding.

That must have been a great tour in the caves. Your photos are magnificent, a surreal atmosphere with the light, lovely. It was indeed better in the caves than outside in the rain.

I remember as a young girl visiting the Cave of the Mounds in Wisconsin . . .
Something about going down inside a place “feeds” into my claustrophobic feelings . . .
If you ever get to Ireland, New Grange is a must for you . . . phenomenal!
Talk about claustrophobia . . . oh my . . .
But the history and structure is unbelievable.
That cave is great, how pretty that is.
Beautiful place to be on a hot and humid day, much like we're experiencing right now!
Caves are truly unworldly looking...an adventure just to see it.
Such an interesting tour of Frozen Niagara! I do remember "Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head" Funny story for me. When I got married at age 21, my husband took me to a fancy restaurant. He asked the live band to dedicate a popular song of their choice to me. They played that song!

Hi There, We have talked about the Frozen Niagara tour --but have never taken it... Looks intriguing... I do have a question... How long is the hike? Are there places to sit down along the way or are you on your feet the entire time? Now that I have A-Fib---I have to be careful what I do.... IF my heart rate jumps way up (like going up steps), I have to stop for a few minutes, sit down and rest. Then I'm good to go... Frustrating --but life for me at this point. Thanks for your thoughts.

Amazing cave. Glad you could tour it. Several years ago our sons and I were able to see the Carlsbad Caverns and that was so interesting. Hope you have a good week.

Fabulous sights inside the cave, especially the cricket! When you mentioned the rain, I thought you were going to say that you DID see rain in the cave, since water is what made the cave … glad that was not the case!
I'm going to be singing that song all day now Eileen and talking of songs one of the songs at the tennis last week was "c'mon Eileen" - I digress from your wonderful pics, that cave tour looked really good!

Absolutely wonderful cave and the spikes give terrific look and nice light to watch these natural decorations… it should be a different experience venture such wonders. Beautiful shots on rain drops and pond!
The cave is incredible. I have been to only 2 caves so far and nothing this incredible either.

I have made a few visits to caves before. I have not seen a cave cricket but one of the cave I visited has lots of bats and very wet and eerie. I can still remember the song "Raindrops keep falling on my head". Have a great day!
