Blowing Rocks Preserve, Jupiter Florida

Hello and Happy Monday!

Jan 5th,  we visited one of my hubby's favorite places in Florida which was the Blowing Rocks Preserve near Jupiter Florida. We read about this preserve in one of our AAA magazines and knew we had to visit. It is a Nature Conservancy preserve, a protected section of limestone coastline. During high tides the waves crash against the rocks and force the water at times as much as  50 ft skyward.

This is the trail to the beach. The sea grape tree provide a shady walk to the beach.

A pretty day to be at the beach, calm ocean water.

The limestone rocky shore.

The Sanderlings were seen on all the beaches in Florida.

A lovely sky day, I enjoy watching the clouds.

These Ruddy Turnstones were begging for food from the fisherman on the beach.

The ocean has carved some interesting shapes and holes into the limestone rocks.

While hubby was enjoying watching the waves hitting the rocks, I was enjoying the pelicans flying by me.

A map of the preserve location in Jupiter Florida.

We also took a walk to see the nearby Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse, Jupiter Florida

Thanks for your visit today!  I hope you enjoyed my post and photos.

Thanks to Angie the new host of  Mosaic Monday

this is so beautiful and very different for the coast of FL. I have tried to get bob to go to Jupiter because I have a friend that lives there and she told me about blowing rocks.

I have not visited Blowing Rocks Reserve, but I once spent a wonderful afternoon at nearby Archbold Research Station with Glen Wolfenden, at that time the lead researcher into the Florida Scrub Jay. Glen has since passed away but he was very kind to me and provided me with a memorable experience,

There are few rocky beaches on the Atlantic in FL...so this is a very pretty one. Glad to see you are in a warmer place this week! Great skies! Have a good time this week!

Very different than the normal FL shore with the limestone rocks. Love the lighthouse too!

You found a place we’ve never heard about and it’s going on our must visit list! Your great pics look more like the Oregon Coast than the Florida one over on our side of the State! Love how I find out about new places in the state where we spend half a year from someone who just was here on a short visit! Thanks for sharing!

Wow, that rocky ledge with the "keyhole". I wonder how many 100s or 1000s of years it took for the waves to carve it out. Wow!
What a wonderful place to be, Eileen. Thanks for sharing.

Eileen - I am not ready for winter to end, but I do enjoy seeing these blue skies and imagining the warm sea breezes! I love how you started this post with the mosaic, and then revealed the details. My eye was immediately drawn to the heart-shaped opening in the rock. How cool is that? I also have an affinity for sea grape trees from my childhood in Florida - I was always attracted to the lily pad-shaped leaves! So glad you could join Mosaic Monday this week!
