Happy Thankful Thursday!

Happy Thankful Thursday!

Can you believe this is the last Thursday of the month? I think as I get older the time go by faster than ever.  I am glad it is Spring and the days are getting warmer with longer days of sunshine.

I am sharing some more Florida photos, this is Jan 11th we are getting close to the end of our January 2019 trip. We took a day trip to Lake Kissimmee located at the Joe Overstreet Landing, Kenansville Florida.

This location is private but a lot of birders post nearby sightings of different rare birds like the Smooth-billed Ani. I thought I saw the Ani while driving the main road, it was flying towards some trees. This area has the Swamp tours if you are interested. We did not have time for the swamp tour, we had a busy day planned going to various places, next on the list was Vero Beach.

There were a herd of cattle standing under the trees, lots of Swallows in flight and Cattle Egrets standing around.

We saw lots of Cattle Egrets, Swallows, Grackles, Cormorants and GB herons.

The Snail Kite has something in his mouth, maybe a snail?

Near the Lake Kissimmee were 2 Bald Eagles in a tree, I think there was a nest in this tree.

Next to the road we saw a group of Sandhill Cranes.

After leaving the Joe Overstreet area we drove to Vero Beach. We wanted to check out the area and take a walk on the beach. We a few Black-bellied Plovers on the beach.

There was something that just drew my eyes to these three palm trees on the Vero Beach.

The water and sky at Vero beach were beautiful, I love the various shades of blue.

I am always thankful for blue skies and warm walks on the beach.
I am thankful for Spring and long days with sunshine.
am thankful for all your visits and comments.

  5. Good day Eileen! Wow so many Egrets. I love seeing them but usually see one if I'm lucky. Didn't have my glasses on and those Sandhill Cranes looked like Kangaroos to me for a minute. Ha, ha.....I should have known better, right. Have a great day, and thanks for the great pictures.

  6. There are so many things for us to be thankful for if only we look for them.

Life is like a roll of toilet paper. The nearer it gets to the end the faster it goes round.

    God bless.

  8. Those truly are beautiful photos!

How time goes by so quickly, I do not know, but I do know this, and that's that I hope when the weather gets warmer that it will last longer than usual.

  10. Very pretty scenes from Vero Beach. I miss being near the ocean now that I'm in Indiana. I ams seeing lots of cardinals in the pear tree blossoms here.

  11. The Kissimmee reserve wasn't far from where we lived and Giroux comes from Vero Beach. So, you were in OUR old stomping grounds. Looks like you had a lovely time.

  19. You just introduced a new bird to me...I don't ever even remember hearing of the Smoothbilled Ani, so I did a google search. I am thankful you mentioned it...I have always been a sucker for birds...long before it was the popular. We always fed the birds in winter at home...I can remember watching them out the window when I was maybe in first grade...and I am 63 now.

  22. All of those Cattle Egrets are rather special Eileen. Cattle Egrets are still fairly scarce here in the UK but I expect to see one this spring. Some great Florida skies and birds again. Many thanks. See you Saturday.

  39. Hej!
