Our World, My World

Happy Monday,

We seem to be having a chilly spring, a lot of days with temps 20 degrees or so below normal. Many cloudy rainy days too.  I feel kind of cheated, like we our missing Spring. How is your weather?

Luckily our rhododendrons are not affected, the blooms are looking beautiful all around the yard.

We have rhododendrons growing on sides of our house. Some are taller than the house.

The rhododenron blooms look pretty even before they open.

A few of my May yard birds: The Pine Warbler and Pine Siskin being seeing as of May 8th

May 10th The Pine Siskins and a Gray Catbird.

May 14th, below are the Northern Mockingbird, Pine Siskin, Red-bellied Woodpecker, White-breasted Nuthatch and a Downy Woodpecker.

Thanks for your visit today!  I hope you enjoyed my post and photos.

  4. Love the rhodo colours, they are truly a magnificent shrub or tree. We had a lot at our other home, one was creamy and such a beautiful delicate perfume. No room here, but I can take a huge delight at seeing your flowers and birds.

  11. The Rhododendrons in your yard are so beautiful. They can grow tall and wild. Rhododendrons in my place is already over. The birds are so cute. Contrary to your weather, it has been unseasonably hot for the past week but is going to be cooled done due to upcoming rainfall. Have a nice week ahead.

  12. We've had crazy ups and downs of temperatures and a whole LOT of rain. The backyard can get pretty swampy.

Sadly, I think all that rain led to the demise of several of our flowering trees. :-(

  13. It has been cooler here too but I think it is allowing the spring flowers to last a bit longer than normal.

  14. Love seeing your beautiful rhoddies! No rhoddies on our new property. Hope you have a good week, Eileen.

  15. Vi har fått gott om regn den senaste veckan vilket gör mig glad för de senaste åren har präglats av svår torka och det har inneburit mycket skador i trädgården så jag klagar aldrig på regnet.

    Underbara bilder på blommande Rhododendron!

  17. Nice to see such color amid the green. It’s the time for rhododendrons in my neck of the woods too. Their blooms are short-lived but their hardy leaves are strong and showy year round.

  21. It's cooler than usual here in Maine too, though yesterday was the first day that brought some hints of summer...My rhododensrons are in bud stage, but azaleas are blooming. Hummingbirds have been visiting them...I remember in Maryland the blaze of azaeleas in my old neighborhood in April!

  29. Hi Eileen, Your rhodies are beautiful. Those rainy days you’ve had are not so much fun but I bet they have helped the rhododendrons. They seem to do well here in our rainy climate. Neat yard bird photos too. I am taking a little blog break for a couple of days. I just wanted to say thanks again for all your encouraging comments while I have been trying to get a good walk to become a habit. I think I have reached my goal. I’m going to continue my daily walks, and snap pics, but will not try to publish a post everyday. Have a happy week ahead and take good care. John

  30. Lovely blooms. Lots of them are blooming around here too.
I think we are having a lovely spring. Cool mornings, a bit of rain once in a while and sunny too with temps in the 60's or 70's.

  31. I love your rhododendrons. I had a beautiful bush when we lived in New York, but it's too hot in Florida.

Speaking of hot weather - we got cheated out of spring, too. We went straight to summer; today it was 96º here. Sigh.

  32. Hi Eileen...our weather has gone full summer this week...and no rain at all. So I'm out watering potted plants every morning before the brunt of high 80s sun hits them. Your rhodos do look lovely...ours were too, but long gone now. Thanks for stopping over at my blog and commenting. You're a joy to hear from.

  34. Eileen - I love rhododendrons! It is amazing to me how each flower is so delicate in its own right, but looks even more spectacular as part of a group! Our weather has been typical, and I am glad that it is not getting too warm too fast! I saw a yellow warbler down by our stream today - similar in looks to your pine warbler. I always enjoy your bird posts, and I am so grateful that you link up to Mosaic Monday!

this is also so beautiful to see. The beautiful pink flowers and birds. Nature has so many beautiful things for us.
I notice that I am different in life after Jahnay's death. I am less worried and I no longer hurry to read the blogs on time. I also post few blogs myself. Probably because the sadness has only got worse in recent months. on my blog I laugh but I just wanted to say it if you notice my great absence.

    Dear little guys, Helma
