Saturday's Critters #285

Welcome to Saturday's Critters!

If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

These are images from our visit on May 18th to the Susquehanna River State Park in Maryland. The Conowingo Dam is known for attracting Bald Eagles, a Great Blue Heron rookery and possibly Cormorants nesting. The birds must find the fishing to be easy right below the dam.

This is one of the 3 Bald Eagles we saw in the trees at the parking lot.

Double-crested Cormorants perched on rocks in the middle of the river.

Way across the river the Bald Eagles were hanging out with the Great Blue Herons. I see 4 Bald Eagles and at least 3 Great Blue Herons.

I missed seeing the Baltimore Orioles but I did see an Orchard Oriole.

The river trail is also known for seeing spring warblers, the only warbler I was able to get clear shots of was the Yellow-throated Warbler.

Another Bald Eagle perched in a tree.

I appreciate and thank everyone who links up their post and for all the wonderful comments !

Here is a list of my linky parties:

Also visit:  I'd-Rather-B-Birdin. Thanks to the gracious host: Anni.

  5. Great shot of the eagle. Was the Yellow-throated Warbler holding a twig or an insect between its beak?

  10. The bald eagle, vilken fågel!

    Allt gott!

  11. Nice spring birds. I had only a brief visit to Illinois this spring, now that we have moved back to Florida full-time. I heard the Orchard Oriole up there but never caught sight of it. Saw some warblers but not the Yellow-throated, which now nests there. Thanks for hosting us!

  13. I have not seen any eagles lately, But in one of the lakes there are lots of cormorants :) Luckily away from disliking people. :) Loved to see the Oriole and the warbler. :)

  29. I think I mentioned, Eileen, I follow the Dale Hallow eagle cam and have learned so much about eagle behaviour.
I've gotten one very bad shot of an eagle here so I admire these captures you have. I'm a little surprised to see the eagles sharing space with the herons.

  30. Hi Eileen, Thanks for taking us along on your visit to the Susquehanna River State Park. Neat photos of the Bald Eagles, Double-crested Cormorants, Great Blue Heron, Orchard Oriole, and Yellow-throated Warbler. It's interesting to me the way the various birds share the little rock island. The Warbler may have just captured some lunch. :-) Another fine post and thank you for hosting Saturday's Critters! John

  50. Oh Eileen, the eagles don't even look real, what great photos!

As for the Cormorants, your photos make me wonder if that's what I see on the rocks on the Potomac when I cross over to Maryland. --I've always wondered what the were. Sometime I'll have to stop and get a better look.

Hope you've had a good weekend, and didn't get too much of the storms that blew through. They missed us.
