Hello and Happy Monday!
There are many parks to visit right off the Blue Ridge Parkway, on Nov 4th we visited the Mt Mitchell State Park. Mt Mitchell is the highest peak or point east of the Mississippi River. The park is located at milepost 355.4 on the Blue Ridge Parkway. It is 35 miles northeast of Asheville North Carolina.
We walked the steep but short trail to the summit from the parking lot. It was a chilly and cloudy day, but no rain. I lucked out on this trip with the weather once again. It started raining when we were about 3 hours from home on the last day. There are 360 degree views at the top, well worth the steep walk.
Hubby and I hiked and walked a lot of steps during this road trip to the North Carolina Mountains along the Blue Ridge Parkway. They say there are 91 species of birds seen in this park. They were hiding from me 🙁 . I have to say we saw few birds this trip, overall everywhere I go I am seeing less birds. Very sad..
I loved this view of the mountain ranges.

Hello Eileen,
Beautiful photos! The view over the montains are very pretty.
Happy Monday, and have a nice week ahead!
Beautiful mosaic, Eileen!
Wishing you a nice week ahead!
Amazing pics. Last pic Stunning.
Have a nice week ahead.
Tão lindas tuas fotos e adoro ver as sombras de vocês! beijo0s, linda semana!chica
Beautiful as always! Have a lovely week☺
I love our national parks, but I have the same experience of not seeing birds in them other than at a water source.
Love the mountains photo.
Hello Eileen: It is discouraging to read that you are seeing fewer birds on your outings, and I suspect that many people would confirm that this is true for them too. It is hard to be optimistic about their future as we continue to destroy their habitat, pollute their food and in so many other ways make their survival ever more precarious.
...indeed a wonderful world.
You have marvellous adventures. Have a great week! (I'm still on the 70th birthday weekend. It was quite a time!)
That last view is incredible.
Lovely photos! It sounds like you had a wonderful trip! It is sad to see fewer birds. i've even noticed that in our back yard! Thank you for your visit and have a wonderful day!
Hi Eileen, thank you for your visits to my blog...I am trying to get back to visiting my favs and that includes you. This is another wonderful spot on our planet that I have had the pleasure of visiting on a few occasions and it never disappoints. As you said less and less birds are around so far many of my fall sparrows are missing in action! We saw lots of Junco at the cemetery but none in our yards yet. They were fighting with a mockingbird for Cedar berries.
The view of the mountain ranges is lovely: love those hues of blue.
Thanks for sharing. To the next hike! :)
All the best!
Thanks for the visit Sondra! It is sad that the bird populations are down, my backyard included. I am seeing less here in my neighborhood. My Juncos seem to come and go. Those cedar berries are popular with the birds. Enjoy your day, wishing you a happy new week!
Thank you! Our trip was wonderful. Have a great day!
Happy birthday Jenn! Thanks for the visit. Enjoy your day!
Thank you Rose! Enjoy your day, wishing you a happy new week!
Yes, it is a wonderful world. I hope it stays that way! Thanks and enjoy your day, wishing you a happy new week!
Hello David, It is sad to hear about and notice for myself the decrease in the bird population. Even in my backyard. We try to keep a happy environment in our yard for the birds and critters. Thanks and enjoy your day!
Hello, I do enjoy all the parks I visit. Thanks for the comment, enjoy your day!
Thank you! Your comments are always appreciated! Have a happy day!
Thank you Marit! The mountain views were fabulous! Enjoy your day!
Thank you Ella! Have a happy day!
Thank you! Enjoy your new week!
Thanks so much Chica! Hope you have a happy day!
Thanks so much! Enjoy your day!
the number of birds here in our neighborhood has dropped drastically. we still have a flock of ibis and buzzards but all the songbirds are missing.
Your blue mountain view is a dream Eilen! Wishing a great new week.
The panoramic view from the summit really worth the climbing up the steep trail. I also love the view of the mountain range. Have a nice week!

All your posts about this trip make me long to get bck to that beautiful and scenic roadway. Maybe I can convince Fletch to do a trip on the Parkway come Spring.
Glad you came down the Blue Ridge Parkway to Mt. Mitchell. It's a beautiful ride, but I seldom see any wildlife and just birds flying in the distance. Next time contact me and we can get a cuppa something and meet face to face in Asheville or Black Mountain! (If you have time!)
Maybe it's the time for migrating & the birds have gone south when you were there. Lovely photos Eileen.
That last photo is incredible. How I love a mountain! This island is sooo...flat!
Hi Eileen!
What a view! I'd get myself up that to that spot, too. Thanks for sharing, Eileen. Birds are fewer in number for us this year which I think is a result of all the new developments popping up nearby. This morning Molly the Cat and I got surprised by a couple of squawky birds in the front yard tree. We were happy that they found the tree.
A gorgeous view!
You made a good effort and it paid off by seeing lots of beauty in the area.
wonderfully
I really like it
what a nice place
The last photo is incredible.
Enjoy the new week, Eileen.
I'm seeing a lot fewer birds, Eileen! I did see some Juncos this weekend which means that winter is here!
A beautiful area for a hike.
On our current trip I'm seeing lots of birds. Probably because they have migrated from the north to California for the winter. I even saw some white Snowbirds (snow geese) that have give rise to the name for Canadians heading south for the winter. - Margy
That view of the mountain ranges is just amazing … lovely photograph.
All the best Jan
That last photo makes me swoon...heehee! I love the view of the blue mts! Just beautiful! Maybe it's just the time of year that keeps the birds tucked into the trees! I hope there are still lots of birds there! Hugs!
Beautiful view. I guess fewer birds is a sign that winter is near!
Fabulous photos Eileen, from that last shot you can see why they call it the Blue Ridge. Thank you and enjoy your week :)
It is a little disheartening that we are seeing fewer birds. Those mountains are gorgeous!
Yippee for good weather for these beautiful hikes and views! So pretty!
Oh yeah, the Mt range shot is wonderful. No steps for me if I can avoid them. You are lucky, I hate driving in the rain. Ninety-one species in a park is a lot, isn't it? That's frightening that you're seeing less birds. Me, I still don't know a hawk from a falcon.
The layers of mountains are so pretty. Sad about not seeing many birds.
i am seeing fewer birds in my yard, i thought maybe it was due to the change of seasons. i enjoyed seeing you guys, that has become a nice "tradition" on your trips. the last images is stunning, the blues are fabulous!!
Eileen - all the pictures are cool, but I love the shot of you and your shadow! So sad about the birds - it seems to be happening everywhere! Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday!
I was there long ago. Magical place!
Wonderful shots!
We are sometimes surprised to at the lack of birds when we are out camping, but then we come across a place where you feel like you are in an aviary. You would enjoy the Territory Wildlife Park in the Northern Territory. It has a huge walk in aviary (over on my blog today). Happy travels Eileen and have a great week.
What a fabulous last photo.
Superb views, great photos Eileen.
Lovely place and creative photos ~ neat shadows shot! ^_^

Hello Eileen,
What a nice place to visit. And what a great view over the area.
Good shots.
