October 29th, these are some images from one of our walks on the local bike trail. I have always called it the NCR trail named after the Northern Central Railroad trail. The name was changed to Torrey C. Brown Rail Trail. It is 20 miles long from Cockeysville Md to the Pennsylvania line. From there the trail continues into Pennsylvania and the name changes again to the York Country Heritage Rail Trail.
My favorite section of the bike trail close to home, this is the Bentley Springs parking lot and the view of the trail.
The land next to the bike trail is private, this is an old barn that is being taken over by the trees and plants.
The Bee Tree Preserve parking area is just across the bridge.
I believe these are the bittersweet berries. I read the American Bittersweet are vines that can kill trees and are hard to eradicate. The birds eat the berries but I read they are not a favorite berry for the birds. I think they are pretty berries, I like the yellow and red colors.
A female Downy Woodpecker, was busy pecking away at this tree.
I liked the reflections and colors seen at this spot of the bike trail.
Hubby and I can do some brisk walking on this trail. It is mostly flat and an easy walk you just need to avoid the bike riders.
On the drive home, we passed two deer, one on the road and the other was in the field on the other side of the fence. The deer were not shy and hung around, I wish they would stay away from the road.

For a bike trail there is an amazing lack of bikes! They can be a bit of a hazard on a trail in my experience, especially for birders who are not always paying close attention! To the bikes, that is.....
Beautiful.
Thanks Chica! Enjoy your day!
Thank You Francisco! Enjoy your day!
Thank you David! Our timing for our walks can be perfect, avoiding the bike riders. Enjoy your day!

The bike trail has so many great views and birds. Wonderful - Happy Thanksgiving!
Very colorful fall shots I enjoyed all! The rail to trail idea was a good thing! The deer here are now in their dark coats and the scuffle tracks on the ground say the rut is already on. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
I just asked my hubby if we do any brisk walking and we had a chuckle! We are sooooo slow but at least we don't miss much! haha! I love the rails to trails that are in so many states. They sure make for some beautiful hiking. Love the old barn and pretty things you've seen! Enjoy your week! Hugs!
...a wonderful world surrounds you!
When we bought out farm I had a bittersweet plant that I wanted to plant near our deck, but after reading about the damage they can do to wooden structures I opted out of that dream. Love today's photos. Thank you for sharing.
What a lovely place, Eileen. I like your pic of the barn!

Bikers should religiously look out for pedestrians, but you're right heads up. I love hiking with you in the best places
Thank you Eileen for visiting my post. I love seeing your critters through your photos - today especially the female Downy Woodpecker and the walking/bike trail, so much to enjoy.

The old barn camouflages so naturally in the forest. It would make a great secret hideout.
What a beautiful trail, it looks very peaceful with the birds and deers for companionship.
What a beautiful walk! It's interesting the things you see when the leaves come off the trees.
Great photographs.
It looks such a lovely area, and a nice place to walk.
All the best Jan
You still have color!Oh, how I love that bittersweet!
Such a great walk and beautiful pictures to take along the way!!
You are fortunate to have abandoned railroads turned into bike trails. They certainly give birds a bit of habitat.
Such nice trails and I really like the photos with reflections you captured.
We have rail trails in BC, some many kilometres long. - Margy
Eileen, I so enjoyed these. I love the third from the bottom best of all, but I did enjoy each and every one.
Happy Thanksgiving, Eileen!! hope u have a great one. love your critters. have a happy time. ( :
Another lovely walk I wouldn't mind taking. Thanks for sharing, Eileen. I get nervous for deer when I see them crossing a road. Earlier this month a friend and I saw four deer running across a 2-lane highway.
As Robert Frost wrote in on of his poems, "The woods are lovely, dark and deep." And so beautiful. Spectacular photos. Happy Thanksgiving.
Eileen - lovely photos of your surroundings. There is something so attractive and nostalgic about a trail that winds along a fence. I love kinglets - so tiny! Happy Thanksgiving, and thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday!
What a gorgeous place to walk. being out in nature is wonderful and good for the heat and mind

What a beautiful trail. You're so lucky to have access to a wooded walking path so close to home. Thanks for sharing your photos.
Thank you Sandra! Enjoy your day!
I wish the deer would stay away from the road too, it's still so sad to see one hit by a car, you'd think you'd get used to it by now. Funny, the cranes around here (now gone) hold up traffic and generally walk where they want when they want and not a one has gotten hit. Maybe the cranes and deer should have a talk. Love the photos, I feel as if I'm walking with you from my couch (my preferred way to exercise).
Beautiful montage of gorgeous photos ~ favorite are the deer ~ lovely place too!

Great post Eileen. I have enjoyed my 'walk' with you. The little Downy has always been a favorite of mine and any sighting of a deer is a real gift. Thank you and enjoy the rest of your week.
Those rail trails are such a good idea. This one looks lovely for a walk but it is annoying having to watch out for crazy cyclists . Lovely photos.
