Welcome to Saturday's Critters!
If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!
I may be late commenting on posts, while I am away from the computer. Thanks for linking up and for any comments. I will visit ASAP.
Sharing some of my feeder birds, I wish I had some nice perches for the birds to land on before visiting the feeders. I will try to find a stick or something I can lean on the deck rail. Their photos would look cute, but I still think my feeder birds are adorable. These photos are all from Oct 19th, 2019.
The Tufted Titmouse is a regular visitor in my yard, year round.
The White-breasted Nuthatch is another daily visitor to my yard and feeders.
I have had both the Carolina and the Black-capped Chickadees in my yard, it may be a rare sighting but it happened. I often try to find another Black-capped Chickadee in my yard.
The Carolina Chickadee has less contrast in the tertial (flight feathers) and no rufous wash on the sides. The Carolina Chickadee is smaller in size and a shorter tail. Their song is different too.
The Carolina Chickadee is a Southern USA bird and the Black-capped is seen in the Northern USA. These two Chickadees have been known to overlap, see the map for where they can merge or where the two make contact.

How I like the Nuthatch! It has a funny attitude...
Thanks for sharing.
Enjoy your weekend!
Hello,
You have many feeders, and the birds seems to like them. The Nuthatch is very similar to our Nuthatch. It's a funny bird.
Happy weekend!
Very interesting bird!
Have a nice weekend, Eileen!
Dearest Eileen; Oh, 2 kinds of Chickadees♪ I checked the word ”tertial, Japanese translation even the first word for me p-;)
Well, I've waited birds to come to the tree in front of my house with camera from the window. Haha, Not Yet.
Wishing you a Lovely Weekend from Japan, Miyako*
cute and sweet and also good at gymnastics on those feeders...
Muito lindas cada uma das fotos! Desejo ótimo fim de semana, cheio de passeios e cliques! beijos, chica
Lovely Birds pics.
Thanks for the beautiful post.
We are just a little north of the range of Tufted Titmouse where I live, but at Pinery Provincial Park on Lake Huron there is a breeding population, so that is where we go when we hanker to see this species. Pinery is also good for Red-headed Woodpecker, so a great place to visit. It must be very interesting to have both chickadees at your feeders and accept the challenge of identifying the two. The song is diagnostic but I think it would be fun to close off your ears and clinch the ID based on morphology alone.
I love the titmouse. I wish we had it where I live :)
The Chickadees are similar to the oens we have. They have started to appear at the forest feeder bird association have. They are quite shy I think.
Hae a nide trip :)
Nice feeder birds. Excellent information and visual depiction of the chickadee range overlap.
...cute little critters, thanks Eileen for hosting.
Lovely bird photos, Eileen. They love those feeders.
Have a wonderful day and weekend. Thanks for hosting.
Black capped chickadees are the only ones I’ve seen here. I love those little birds!

Eileen, this was a lovely counterpoint post to David's from the previous week! What a fun graphic to find. Happy weekend. YAM xx
The nuthatches and titmice have shown back up at our place. They were scarce during the summer.
Lovely shots, Eileen. You certainly get a large variety of birds visiting your backyard!
your pictures are awesome eileen, showing off these pretty birds. i see the first two birds pretty regularly, but i will have to pay better attention to my chickadees and what i call them. i have not looked that closely and i am not really sure which i am getting!!

Thank you for hosting, Eileen!
We have lots of chickadees in Canada, as well, not just northern USA!
I've never seen a titmouse, though.
Thanks for hosting.
The two chickadees are news to me, and I've probably seen them both and not realized the differences. Thanks. Have a great weekend!
Good Morning! It is so great that we have these wonderful birds come right into and share our space...without the birds my life would have a huge hole in it...we have the Carolina Chickadee, I really can not tell them apart from the more northern Black Capped, so when I travel, I use the map to determine which Im looking at. Have a great weekend...
Always enjoy seeing the birds you have in your yard. Such a variety come to visit.
Black caps are jolly winter residents here.
It is a joy to see the pretty birds come feed in your yard all year round. Happy weekend!
We love watching the nuthatches and chickadees too, don't really see the titmouse in the garden.
Hello Eileen
I was away early this morning so not linked. Shall I do next Saturday then :-)
I see a lot of beautiful pictures here again and so I will be visiting ff a number of others here in your party.
Have a nice weekend,.
Greetings, Helma
Thanks, E!
I've never seen the southern Chickadee. We still seem to be having a lack of birds around the feeders. It is very weird.
We have the Red-breasted Nuthatch here and they are busy on the feeders now. Also the Chickadees---Love en. I find the Chestnut backed ones cuter---or something like that

Very pretty birds!
Very nice !
You have the sweetest little birds in your yard. I enjoyed looking at them. Thank you Eileen and have a great Sunday :)
You have some interesting birds at your feeder, we just have mainly 2 at ours.
Hmm, not far from me! They are welcome to visit my yard and have a party!
Sorting out those chickadees must be difficult at times? I'm pretty sure I would struggle to separate the two. It's good to read about your backyard birds Eileen. Thanks too for the usual link-up. Have lovely week ahead.
We have many of those come to our feeder by my kitchen window, and cardinals and bluejays too. Sadly I have not seen many rose breasted grossbeaks in recent years, I think their numbers are dwindling in New England. We do have a squirrel with a large white dot on her forehead that has been showing up at the feeder for years now. I call her SPOT, not very original. But I do love that she returns often. Until now I didn't know squirrels actually had territories.
I adore the Black Capped Chickadees...such great "watch-dogs" at the feeders, sounding the alert when danger is near...:)jp
Lovely capture on your yard visitors and interesting how the northern and southern Chickadee distinct! Have a nice day and week ahead
We have nuthatches and black-capped chickadees all year round atMuldoon. The chickadees are quite vocal and friendly.
I enjoyed seeing all these photographs of your feeder birds, they are adorable :)
All the best Jan
I always feel that titmice (titmouses?) have a confusing name. They are birds, not mice! Perhaps it is they who are confused.
Then again, I do not know what the song of a titmouse sounds like. Perhaps they sound like a mouse, and this is how they got their odd name.
I'm seeing and hearing the winter birds around! And, I really wanted to get my feeders up this weekend, but a little glitch kept me from that. So, I'm glad I get to enjoy your pictures today! Hope you had a good weekend - Did you get frost in your direction?
Birds are just so beautiful..I want to go look up the different chickadees.
I love the birds you share :) Have a great week Eileen and thank you!
Lovely shots.
Hi Eileen . ...your feeder birds are wonderful, I did not know there were Carolina chickadees! The kind we do have are one of my favorite birds. ....I am so sorry you are having commenter problems on TypePad as you told me in your email. and sorry you are having computer issues with Blogger (from reading your previous post). I always love reading your comments, but it is most important that you get it fixed so you can post your own blog! We would not know what to do without you!!..(I went to your WordPress blog, but could not find a place to comment there).
Eileen - we don't see Tufted Titmouse or Carolina Chickadees, but the Black-capped Chickadees and two varieties of Nuthatches are constant visitors at my bird feeders. I never tire of watching their antics. Enjoy the rest of your week!
Good morning Eileen,
It should be a wonder to see all these birds visiting your backyard!
Are beautiful!
I love it.
Hugs
Ailime
Thanks for the visit and comment Sally. The WordPress blog comments are located at the top of the post, not sure why they are at the top. I think I can comment on your blog from Google, now where else. Hope your day is great!
Thank you to everyone who left a comment, since I was away I am sorry I can not reply to each comment. I do appreciate the comments and visits.
