Happy Thankful Thursday!

After a rainy day, hubby and I were off for a walk on the local fire road when we saw the sun dog. The skywatch and contrail was seen from my yard and deck.
I love watching the Blue Jays in my yard, even though they are bullies toward the other birds. It is said even though the Blue Jays act like a bully, they are like an alarm announcing loudly that there is a predator nearby. The Blue Jays are naturally raucous birds, they are smart and learn quickly.
A sun dog are colorful patches appearing in a partly cloudy sky on each side of the sun. Some times they are seen as a ring or halo around the sun.

I am thankful for the small things, like seeing a Blue Jay, a Sun Dog and pretty sunset. Live simple and be happy! 😊

I have never viewed Blue Jays as bullies. That is purely a human interpretation of avian behaviour. Each species survives in the way it is generically predisposed to do and this is all that Blue Jays are doing. They visit my yard every day and are very welcome.

I find the jays are intimidated by the woodpeckers.

Beautiful photos and thoughts Eileen. It's been so long since I've seen a Sun Dog and I'd forgotten about them. I love the blue jays you share with us. I've always loved them (and red cardinals and woodpeckers) though I don't think I've ever actually seen one live. Maybe once I did but it was long ago. Enjoy your upcoming weekend my friend. Hugs. xx

stunning pictures today eileen!! i like blue jays...i like the fact that they alert the little birds to predators!! the sun dog is really pretty, i thought i saw one once, it didn't have any color, it was just a ring around the sun. i like your quotes today, happy and positive!! i am ao happy to be home and back to my routine...but we had a really fun time!!!

I can't quite do that yet, but it will come again.
