Hello and Happy Monday!
I will be sharing some trip photos today and in posts to come. I hope you enjoy nature scenes and birds. I admit I am easily distracted by birds and I love anything nature related.
Before leaving home I research the places we were visiting, in this case Hilton Head South Carolina. I looked for nature parks, walking trails and nice beaches. I found Jarvis Creek Park which is 53 acres and has a 1.1mile loop around a 11 acre lake. There were pavilions and clean restrooms.
Mosaic below, park scenes, Great Egret, Great Blue Heron, Little Blue Heron, Anhinga, Northern Mockingbird, Carolina Wren.
Pulling up to the park's parking lot, I immediately started seeing Warblers, they were on the ground, in the trees and flying about. I was not expecting to see so many different species of Warblers in late December.
Below on the left is the Yellow-rumped Warbler, the top middle a Pine Warbler. I am not sure but the warbler on the right with the reflection ? CLICK ON PHOTOS for larger image.

Pine Warblers were in the trees and on the ground.
I love these big trees with the moss.
A Bluebird was also seen hanging out with the Warblers on the ground.
I see warblers below that have more of a distinct white "eyebrow" are mixed in with the Yellow-rumped Warblers. Could it be a different warbler mixed in?
I am pretty sure there were a lot of Yellow-rumped Warblers, Pine Warblers and we saw a Black & White Warbler.
The Black & White Warblers were seen on various days and various places.
We saw a few Anhinga perched in trees near the lake.

One certainly doesn't associate most of these warblers as foraging on the ground. I didn't see a Palm Warbler anywhere which is the very species you would expect on the ground.

I do enjoy the 'wee' birds every bit as much as the larger ones. The ahinga shot is wonderful, but all those wee flitteries are a joy to the heart! YAM xx

Migrating warblers congregate in spring at an area near Lake Erie around an hour from us, so I've been on many warbler walks. Unfortunately I find that larger birds appeal to me much more than these little ones, though I do like the more colorful plumage they wear in breeding season. Your photos are nice.

We do have some birds visiting our garden. Plenty of worms and insects to feed on.

There are flocks of Warblers here now...lots in our yard. Mostly we see Pine and Palm Warblers but it's fun to see a Yellow throated warbler in our feeder every day. Beautiful photos! The weather has been so nice here this winter! Glad you made a trip and saw lots of birds! Happy Monday!
Such pretty little birds...I'm more familiar with Anhingas...which are fun to watch diving to eat underwater. Hope the warblers were singing to you too! Have a great week!

WoW!!!! that's a lot of warblers!! the picture with the puddle and reflection is awesome!!! i was hypnotized in my bird book the other day and how funny i was stuck on warblers. i never realized there were so many!!!
looks like you found a good spot, as always, chuck does that before we travel. i use to but after so many mistakes, he took over and i am so happy he did!!!!

You're lucky to see so many warblers. I used to see many warblers as in your photo but not anymore.
Lots of beautiful birds Eileen. We do lots of research before we go anywhere new too. And I am a great pamphlet collector! Have a great week, thank you for your visit to my blog this week, and for your thoughts for Australia. The devastation for the wildlife is horrific. Houses can be rebuilt but habitat and animals wiped out cannot.
Who'd of thought that there were so many different kinds of warblers. I had never heard of the an Anhinga until last week, now I see that word in print a lot. What's up with that.

I've never even heard of an Anhinga. What a stunning bird and what a great capture. I would think he could camouflage in quite well!

Hi Eileen, What a neat visit to Jarvis Creek Park. It reminds me a lot of Greenlake, here in Seattle, where I have walked so many times around the lake. I don't think I've ever seen as many neat birds at one visit like you did here. Great photos! Thank you for keeping an eye on John's Island and your kind comments there.
