Our World, My World

 Happy Monday!

Here is an update from around the yard and neighborhood. These are some images from my deck and yard this month.  January is almost over, we have had 2 little snow events.

One week we had pretty blue skies and temp's in the 60's and now we are having an arctic blast. Temp's in the teens and up to the low 30's.

The pretty sky images are from January 2nd.

Interesting cloud formations and a pretty skywatch.

On January 2nd, it was a warmer day, hubby and I took walk to the lake. There were 5-6 maybe more of the Common Merganser on the lake.  Not the best photos, of the male above and the female on the bottom.

The Common Merganser on the lake, it looks like they leave behind a wake like a boat. There are a lot of trees in between the fire road and the lake.  I could not get a very clear shot of these Mergansers.

January 18, my feeders are busy with the birds and squirrels chowing down the food. I have the usual visitors: Cardinals, Juncos, Nuthatch, Woodpeckers, Goldfinches, House Finches, Mourning Doves.

The last snow turned into sleet and freezing rain, it was not pretty. Temperatures as I type are in the teens. Below the male Cardinal and the male and female Dark-eyed Junco.

The moon images are from the morning of January 12th.

This is my world in January 2020, I hope you enjoyed!

  3. Some of your sky shots are quite remarkable, Eileen. The sky is something ai have to pay more attention to. If you could visit my blog and check out my review of a book called The Gardener's Botanical I would appreciate it very much. It's a long story I won't go into, but the post is not showing up on people's feeds so they are not aware that it is there. Thanks!

  7. Hi Eileen!

Love the moon photos too. I might think it's too cold to go out at night and photograph the moon! lol Hugs!

  38. Hi Eileen, we've had a similar bought of yo yo weather. But it's still a bit novel to have snow on the ground as it came very late and we've had many days when I don't wear a coat. Of course that could just be me. Some of the clouds look like snow covered trees, very cool.

  48. Very nice pictures. Love the shot of the "wake" from the ducks. One day my husband spotted 8 male cardinals in our hedge (near our sunflower seed feeder) and about 6 female cardinals! Even without snow on the ground, the males always seem brighter than they do in the summer. But against a backdrop of snow they really pop!
