Our World, My World

 Happy Monday everyone!

We are doing good here. I hope everyone is doing well, healthy and happy! Things are as normal as they can be in this situation. I have my yard birds to help entertain me..

The Great Blue Herons seem to be doing well, I am not sure how many nests we have in our neighborhood. Maybe 6-8 herons nest, more could be more hidden.

The Hairy Woodpeckers enjoy the suet feeders. I also am seeing the Red-bellied Woodpecker, Downy Woodpecker and a Northern Flicker in my yard and at my feeders.

My winter birds are still here and I am seeing a few of my summer birds. I have a few Dark-eyed Juncos, White-throated Sparrow, the Chipping Sparrow has returned and I am seeing the Pine Warbler often at my suet feeders.

I am still seeing Dark-eyed Juncos as of 3/25/20

Resident Carolina Chickadee..

Local Great Blue Herons on nest.

Leucistic Song Sparrow was seen on my deck.

On left the winter White-throated Sparrow and on the right the spring/summer Chipping Sparrow seen together on 3/22/20

I am happy with the variety of birds I can see from my deck and windows.  BTW, all these photos are from my windows except for the GB Herons which were seen from the local fire road. It is the opposite view of the heron's nest I see from our yard.

Saturday's Critters #328

Welcome to Saturday's Critters!

If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

Before the lock down in early March, we took trip to Ocean City Maryland. During our getaway we visited the Assateague Island National Seashore and the Assateague Md State Park. Hubby and I both have senior passes for both parks which is nice, we no longer have to make sure we have exact change.

We walked the beaches, the boardwalk trails and drove around the park looking for birds and the Assateague ponies.

The Maryland Assateague Island ponies are owned by the national park, they are kept separate from the Chincotegue Island Virginia ponies.  Around 150 ponies are owned by the Chincoteague Island Volunteer Fire Company in Chincoteague Island Virginia. Some of these ponies are auctioned off each year.

Below a few Killdeer, Northern Gannet over the ocean, bottom right are some of the Common Loons.

The Common Loons seemed to be the most common bird seen from the beach.

I was able to find a few Northern Gannets far out in the ocean, it is fun to watch them dive.

The Killdeer were seen and heard on the Assateague Island beach.

Traffic back up from the Assateague ponies crossing the street.

Thanks to all my visitors and for all the wonderful comments. I appreciate everyone who loves critters and has linked up their post.

Happy Thankful Thursday!

Hello,  Happy Thursday everyone!

Time is flying by,  it's last Thursday of March. Easter on April 12th is just a couple of weeks away.

I wanted to start my post by saying I am thankful for the Doctors, Nurses, all medical staff, Police and the EMT's they are all taking risks exposing themselves to the Covid-19.

I am sharing some more photos from our last visit to Assateague Island National Seashore.  We saw a lot of the wild ponies, some birds and we walked on the trails and beaches. I also have another Ocean City sunrise & a sunset and the Super Worm Moon rising up out of the ocean.

Below the Ocean City Maryland sunrise on March 9th, similar skies shots that I already shared were from March 8th.

"Keep looking up, that's the secret of life." Charles M. Schulz

I am thankful for the beauty I see, when looking up!

A walk on the boardwalk at Assateague Island National Seashore.

Various scenes and a Great Blue Heron and a Belted Kingfisher seen during our walk.

I always have fun taking the "me and my shadow" shots. This was from our walk on the trail at Assateague Island Nat'l Seashore.

March 9th sunset at Ocean City's inlet, Maryland. It is not often I see the wave clouds in the photos below.

Waves clouds, these clouds are created when two different layers of air are moving at different speeds. It was a windy day.

The Super Worm Moon on March 9th, Ocean City Maryland.

March full moon rising over the Atlantic Ocean.

Here is is list of the books I've finished this past week.

Dear Mrs. Bird by A.J. Pearce, it is a  Historical Fiction
The Seagull by Ann Cleeves # 8 in the Vera Stanhope series, my favorite out of these three books.

Our World, My World

 Happy Monday everyone!

I hope everyone is feeling well, taking care. We recently did our food shop getting most of what was on our shop list. Hubby and I are well, taking our walks locally. Sometimes we see others walking on the fire roads. Most of the time it's just us, the trees and the birds.

Around our yard, hubby has cleaned the leaves out of the ponds. The rabbit statues are placed in their spot in the garden. We are seeing a lot of frog eggs in one pond.

Living next to a forest, we are constantly having leaves fly into our yard.  Our bunnies do not care about the carpet of leaves.  BTW, I have been seeing at least 2 live bunnies in our yard. A chipmunk too!

A real bunny on the side of the fence.. baby bunnies will be coming soon.

A look at our local Great Blue Herons on their nest. These are views from the local fire road near our home.

A pretty sky, a peaceful and calm day in the neighborhood.

Some scenes from our fire road walk.  A few more trees came down, we had to climb over them or walk around. We have been having some windy days.

A view looking up, from our fire road walk through a pine tree forest.

This hawk has been hanging around the yard, it look large maybe a female?  I was guessing at the id, a Red-shouldered Hawk.  The same day I saw a smaller hawk on the side of our yard, maybe a Cooper's or the Sharp-shinned hawk. I was not able to get a photo of the smaller hawk.

My wish for you, stay calm and healthy.  Enjoy life and be happy!

Welcome to Saturday's Critters!

Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

These are birds and wildlife sightings we saw during our last visit to Bombay Hook NWR in Delaware. Below is a Mute Swan.

We saw lots of Tundra Swans, they are native swans for this area in the winter.

The Northern Pintails are common ducks seen in the winter at Bombay Hook NWR.

The Belted Kingfisher was one of our first sightings, along with  FOY Tree Swallow.

It was a warm sunny day, so it was nice to see the turtles our sunning themselves.

The Sandhill Crane almost blended in with the grasses.

This Great Blue Heron was standing not too far off from the Crane.

Happy Thankful Thursday!

Happy Thankful Thursday!

Welcome Spring! May your days blossom with joy and blessings.

Hello, I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy.  It is best to take some precautions than to end up sick. Maryland schools are closed for a few weeks, large gatherings are canceled. I do feel safe taking my walks outdoors and enjoying nature.

These are some more photos from our recent getaway to Ocean City, Maryland.  We were up early, like the birds to enjoy the sunrise.

The boardwalk at Ocean City Maryland.

March's full moon called the  Worm Moon, rising on the morning of March 9th.

 Ocean City's ferris wheel.

Below on the top row are the female and male Buffleheads ducks. On the bottom of the mosaic are the Common Loon on the bottom left and Red-throated Loons (longer necks) on the bottom right.

Me and my shadow at Ocean City's Inlet.  I am always thankful for a getaway with my hubby.

I am always thankful for my local library's ebooks. The latest book I  read is  Harbour Street by  Ann Cleeves it is #6 in the Vera Stanhope series. I  discovered  the Vera series late, I have a few more to go.

I am thankful for good health, I wish the same for everyone! Stay safe, stay well and stay happy peeps!

I am always thankful for your visit and comments.

March 8-10th, these are some images from our little getaway to the Delaware shore and Ocean City Md.  we enjoyed walking the beach, watching the surfers and the birds at the Delaware Indian River Seashore Park. Later that day we enjoyed the sunset at Ocean City's inlet and we watched the moon rising over the ocean.
