Hello everyone,
It is hard to believe August is almost half over. The days continue to fly by. There is not much happening here, we are still keeping our distance and wearing our face mask. Our walks have been local, on the fire roads and to the lake. Can I say, I am grinning and bearing this new version of blogger? How do you like the new blogger? Please ignore any errors, lol.
My Skywatching is from my deck, yard and driveway.
" I am grateful, I am happy."
Bird watching is from my windows or on our deck. I am seeing 5-6 Ruby-throated Hummingbirds zooming around my yard. I have 3 feeders that I seem to refill every other day. Seeing these hummingbirds in my yard just make me happy.
Nature scenes from our fire road walk, the round spider webs, mushrooms, Acadian Flycatcher and a Red-spotted Purple butterfly. |
I often see these round spider webs during our walks, they remind me of a CD or DVD.
Backyard sky, sunset looking pretty in pink.
I am thankful for the simple pleasure of a beautiful sunset.
" Make time to enjoy the simple things in life." Warm tea and a good book are a few of my simple things.
Recently, I heard about a tasty honey called Orange Blossom Honey. Apparently bees in Florida and California visit the orange blossoms which in turn flavor the honey comb with a sweet citrus flavored honey. I like adding a little honey to my tea, right now I am using a local Maryland clover honey. I ordered the Orange Blossom Honey from Amazon, I am looking forward to trying this honey. Do you buy local honey? It is best pure and raw, it has health benefits, antioxidants, nutrients to help promote digestive health and help with your pollen seasonal allergies.
I am thankful for all the ebooks I find online from my local library.
These are my latest books:
The American Agent by Jacqueline Winspear, it is # 15 in the Maisie Dobbs series. I really enjoyed this series, I hope she does another Maisie Dobbs, I am a fan.
Unseen by Karin Slaughter, # 7 in the Will Trent series
All Shall be Well by Deborah Crombie, # 2 in the Duncan Kincaid & Gemma James series.
I am thankful hubby and I are remaining virus free. This Covid virus is not just going to go away. I hope everyone take care and stays safe.
Live simple and be happy! 😊 Take care, keep smiling!
Thank you Michelle for hosting Thankful Thursday.
Thank you to Yogi the host of Skywatch Friday
Thanks so much for visiting and for your nice comments on my previous post. Have a happy day!!

Hello Eileen,
Lovely flowers in your diningroom. I don't think it's Freesia, and I think they are called in latin Matthiola incana. They are very beautiful. The hummingbirds are so pretty too.
Enjoy your day!
I am thankful that Joe Biden chose Kamala Harris, i can't wait to see her debate Squirmy Wormy Pence.
...the butterfly steals the show for me.
These are making me smile. Thank you.
Thank you Marit! I appreciate the plant id.

Have fun on your wanderings and yes stay safe!

Tão lindas as tuas fotos e as flores enfeitam muito bem a mesa...E o céu? Maravilhoso. Esse mel de laranjeira é muito bom! beijos, ótimo dia! chica
Hello, Wren,
I read the hot lemon water is great for the digestion and metabolism. The warm water with a little lemon helps with joint and muscle pain. It can also help with dental health. Warm water with lemon is very beneficial. Thanks for the comment and visit. Take care, enjoy your day!
Thank you Chica! The honey is delicious! Take care, enjoy your day!
The Hummingbird is posing so nicely, but I like the Butterfly too!
Yes, we buy local honey produced in our hometown. I like honey on bread and butter for my morning breakfast instead of jam, sometimes.
All the best!
All of your photos are so beautiful! I love the little humming bird. I have an ugly old firebush that humming birds love so I keep it just for them. Stay safe and have a great day :)
Thank you Luisella! The honey on bread sounds delicious! Take care, enjoy your day!
Thank you Martha! It is nice to have plants and flowers to attract the hummers and butterflies.
Take care, enjoy your day!
I love the Maisie Dobbs series too. Have you read Laurie King's series about Sherlock Holmes? The early books are the best but they are all good. I love your see hummer too. Enjoy your day!
We've been enjoying watching the clouds from our patio - they appear in the same place in the sky every afternoon! We've had a couple of hummingbirds, but I can never get a picture - they are so fast and other than sitting on a branch or clothesline for a moment, they do not stay still!
Beautiful shots...all! I have several local honeys...and all unpasteurized which lets the honey's natural effects survive best. The honeys I like are wildflower and clover, and sometimes Sourwood, which is a tree here. They are supposed to help with allergies as there's probably a bit of the pollen from those flowers still in it, and can help immunize one to that flower.
We buy local honey, wildflower. It’s delicious. The skies are beautiful. Nature doesn’t see the drama in the lives of people. That spider’s web is a beauty!
Beautiful set of photos. I am so jealous of the humming birds, wish we had them here. Stay safe Diane.
Not sure where to begin...will try to keep it short. LOVE the flowers in your vase, don't know what they are. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that spider web. Do NOT fully love new blogger, but I am learning to live with it. No other choice. I hate the way you have to do to edit a post you have already posted. I liked clicking one click and going directly to edit.
Thanks Diane! I have read a few of Laurie King's books. Thanks for the visit and comment.
Take care, enjoy your day!
Hello Vera,
I have watched the hummers fly back to where they like to perch, usually not far from the feeders.
They sit long enough for me to take a few photos. Thanks for visiting and for the comment. Take care, enjoy your day!
Hello Barbara,
I have seen the wildflower honey in various local stores, I may try that one next. Thanks for visiting!
Take care, enjoy your day!
Thanks Marie! The local honey is delicious! Take care, enjoy your day!
Thank you Diane! Do you see the Sunbirds there, they are similar to the hummingbirds?
Take care, enjoy your day!
Eileen, your photographs are always mesmerizing! The flowers and that spider web...oh my gosh!
So many things to be thankful for, right? Take care, my friend!
Nancy
Hello Rose,
The editing part of the new blogger is really awful. I liked the old way we could edit a post.
Thanks for the comment! Take care, enjoy your day
Thank you Nancy! Yes, so thankful for so much! Take care, enjoy your day!
Thank you!
Take care, enjoy your day!
The flowers are just gorgeous I love that color and that web does look just like a CD it's beautiful! I am not loving the new blogger at all and it's still smoking the pictures because I'm looking at blogs on my phone again and yours are fine but several others are not saying they're all smooshed up I don't know why some are and some are not! I always enjoy seeing what you see or what your camera sees. And the way you feel about the hummingbirds making you feel Joy when you see them in the yard that's what we feel when we talk to our lizards
This Thursday Im thankful to be on the mend and watching the wildlife on my little homestead. Im not going to use the new blogger willingly...it's just not user friendly, I don't understand making something that was working and easy into something hard and sketchy especially since NO One asked for this change...
I refer Maple syrup to Honey, but it does sound good with a little citrus spin on it.
Enjoy your day.
We do buy local honey from a farm stand near us in the summertime. In the winter, when I buy it at the grocery store, I usually look for orange blossom honey. I can never tell those Epidonax flycatchers apart. You are GOOD if you can ID that one as an Acadian!
Oh always wonderful photos ~ I have a hummingbird visit my flowers that I grateful for ^_^
New blogger has a steep learning curve at times ~ anything new does ~ way it goes ~ not sure any of us are happy with it yet ^_^

I wish our favorite authors would write faster! hahaha! Hugs!
Super sunset colours, stay safe as you walk, make the most of those last summer days. We are travelling out of winter down here, a frost yesterday, a mountain covered in snow, I could see it from a nearby road on Tuesday, too far for a photo. A new cluster outbreak of Covid 19, 5 hours or so North of us, who knows what level we will be in later today.
Pretty pink skies.
Love your photos especially those beautiful skies.
Enjoy your day!
Hi Sandra,
I am glad you are feeling better! I am not sure why they changed blogger, I really liked the old version.
I like both maple syrup and honey. Take care, hope your day is great!
Hello,
The local honey is delicious! I watched this Acadian Flycatcher and could hear it at the same time, the sound helps with the id. Take care, hope your day is great!
Thank you Carol! The hummers are so sweet to see! Take care, hope your day is great!
Thank you Jean! I hope stay safe from Covid there. Enjoy your day, have a happy weekend!
I have clicked back to Legacy Blogger. I'm not even sure if my old computer will be able to work the New Blogger.
Love the hummingbird, Eileen!
Thanks Jim! Have a great day and weekend!
Thank you Bill! Enjoy your day, wishing you a great weekend!
your skies are pretty today and fresh flowers are cheerful
Hello,
I hope they keep the choice of going back to the Legacy Blogger. Thanks for visiting!
Take care, hope your day is great!
Thanks Sandra! I find most things nature related make me feel joy..
The new blogger is awful, I have trouble putting spaces between my photos.
I find I have to do one photo at a time and type something in between to keep them spaced out.
I am trying to deal with the new version, I still see you can click on the old blogger and bring it back.
Take care, enjoy your day!
Very enjoyable photos Eileen, always a pleasure to visit. Your flowers are very pretty. How sweet of your husband to suggest buying them. I like to see flowers in our home but haven’t bought any in a while. It’s time! They make everything seem a little more bright and cheerful! We are fortunate to have a local apiarist and I have been buying their honey for years. It is pure and raw. I didn’t realize honey helped with allergies. I have read several Maisie Dobbs books and have enjoyed them all. Stay safe and healthy and enjoy your weekend :)
Living simply is the key to living as far as I am concerned.
I read a lot of ebooks from the Library. I try and mix books I have and books they have. My wife put out a couple of hummingbird feeders but no dice this year.
I really think that it is important and get outside every single day if you can and go hike in the woods, or a meadow, to reset one's mind.
Hi Eileen
I always enjoy your beautiful photos!
I am not a fan of this new blogger format. For some reason all my photos became left justified and would not center when I used it last and I had to revert to the old editor to fix them. But, once it becomes the new standard we have to adjust to it like every other change in life. I still miss the old Picasa photo editor... the new google photos isn't as nice.
Such lovely things to be thankful for...from the hummers to honey and everything in between.
God is good.
Stay healthy
Be kind
Sue
Love the hummer and that spider web. That's a great suggestion to keep flowers in your vase changing them up every couple of weeks. Have a great evening!
I was always told buying local honey is best...the bees create honey that is less likely to affect food allergies. Dunno how true that is. Anyway, love reading your blog. Sweet hummer (like how it's framed in the branch). I'm sticking to old blogger.
The new blogger seems to be slowly sneaking into my posts. This is the first post I noticed anything different, and it didn't seem too bad. We will see what happens next post! Beautiful shot of the hummer. We have one that sits all day on a branch outside our kitchen window, guarding the feeder (and chasing off any other hummers that dare try to use it). Fun to watch the antics as we prepare meals.
This is getting to be an active time of the year when birds are moving south.
Beautiful pictures as always.
I like the new blogger fine and have figured it out by just playing around with it. Don't feel it is any better, just different.
Yes, we buy local honey! Delicious.
Lots of beauty there, my friend. What wonderful skies, day and evening!
I love your sweet little hummer!
My WordPress sprung an upgrade last year. Luckily I was able to hobble through the new interface. Blogger sounds like it's really thrown a curve to everyone.
Pink skies can't be beat!
I don't use the new Blogger, I click on the Revert to Legacy Blogger on the design page. It's under all the options on the left. I didn't like the new version. The revert button isn't as noticeable as the "try the new" one!
So lovely to read of all you are thankful for Eileen. Beautiful and inspiring. Love those Humming Birds xx
yes so fast time flies..almost end of the month..hye floow you here
love hummingbirds...attractive bird.
Skies and wildlife are beautiful....great shots as usual.
Beautiful pics. I used New blogger look, But now again back classic blogger mood.
Take care. Have a nice weekend.
Hi Eileen,
Beautiful pictures, I love the hummingbird.
Freesias are my favorite flowers because they smell good.
Beautiful colors in the sky of the sunset.
I wish you a nice weekend, enjoy it.
I´m glad for your words... Be safe and happy and enjoy your weekend with peace and serenity... Nice pictures... :-)))
I hope the honey you buy is the real thing. Counterfeit honey is a serious problem, and buying from local producers (like at farmers' markets) is one way to avoid fakes, which don't even come from bees! These mainly come from China. Another sad issue that's not adequately policed by American watchdog agencies.
be well... mae at maefood.blogspot.com
beautiful images today...good idea the hubby had about fresh flowers for the house, they always cheer me up!! i buy local honey but primarily for gifts, i only use it occasionally on toast!! i have been seeing a few hummingbirds but have had trouble keeping up with filling the feeders. junior the squirrel keeps emptying them!!
our skies and clouds have been amazing, like someone has drawn the clouds in the sky!! what a gorgeous sunset...they don't have to be spectacular to be really pretty!!!
Well, I'm muddling through with the new version of blogger and I think it's easier that learning a new one that I did try at WordPress. By the way, your blog as always is a beautiful adventure! Have a wonderful weekend!
Yes, the days weeks and months are going by so quickly.
Lovely photographs here and the sunset really does have some beautiful pink colours in it.
All the best Jan
Hello, Mae
I did research the honey I purchased, it came from a bee keeping apiary in southern Florida. Not from china, thankfully. Thanks for the comment. Enjoy your day, happy weekend!
Thank you Debbie! The flowers are a cheery sight in the home.
The clouds do help to make a beautiful sunset. Take care, enjoy your weekend!
We were happy to hear them speak, Biden and Harris, from this side of the border!
August seems to go too quickly. I took the grandies swimming this a.m. and I am baffed!
Thank you Carol!
Take care, enjoy your day!

Beautiful skies.
