Welcome to Saturday's Critters!
Hello and happy Saturday!
If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!
I have more butterflies to share and my Ruby-throated Hummingbird, both are always a joy to watch.
The Ruby-throated Hummingbird, I see a female guarding the feeders lately. She will sit on a branch where she can watch over 3 different feeders at the same time.
I've been seeing a few bunnies in our yard. They just look up when I come outside, they watch me for awhile and then they go back to their eating.
Below a Fritillary Butterfly and a unknown Swallowtail. There is a list of Fritillary Butterflies, like the Gulf Fritillary and the Great Spangled Fritillary.
There are actually 3 Swallowtail Butterflies that are mostly black in color and look similar to me. They are the Eastern Black Swallowtail, the Spicebush Swallowtail and the Pipevine Swallowtail.
The Eastern Tiger Swallowtails are the most common butterfly I see in my yard.
Thanks to all my visitors and for all the wonderful comments. Stop back to see any replies to your comments. I appreciate everyone who loves critters and has linked up their critter post.

ReplyDeleteWe haven't had many butterflies this year. :-( I'm hoping my new cone flowers and black eyed Susans will attract them next year.
Thank you Dee! I see the Swallowtails at the coneflowers, I think you will see them on your flowers next year too. Enjoy your weekend!

The hummingbirds are fattening themselves up for the long trip across the Gulf of Mexico here (I think yours have the same migration route). We've been seeing bunnies too, but ours are less cute to us because they ate our hastas this year.
ReplyDeletebe well... mae at maefood.blogspot.com
Thank you Mae!
DeleteTake care, enjoy your weekend!
Really nice photos! The hummingbirds and rabbits seem to be rather prevalent right now.
ReplyDeleteThank you Brian!
DeleteYour hummer story was amazing.
Take care, enjoy your weekend!
When you say that the female hummingbird is watching over her family is she still observing young in the nest? As far as I know, there is no ongoing parental care once the young fledge.
ReplyDeleteHello David,
DeleteSorry, I was not clear. The female was not guarding the family on a nest but guarding the feeders. I see her let some hummers possibly her family go to the feeders, other hummers get chased away. Thanks for the comment. have a great day!
Muito lindo tudo! Ótimo fim de semana! beijos, chica
ReplyDeleteThank you Chica!
DeleteTake care, enjoy your weekend!
Really great shots of your yard wildlife. I have 2 males and 2 females, they are all busy trying to get to the HB feeder but one male seems to be the top dog right now. That reminds me I need to refill the feeder today. Cuteeee Bunny!! Have a good Saturday!
ReplyDeleteThank you Sondra!
DeleteThe hummers move so quickly, I have a hard time seeing whether they are male or females.
Unless they stop and sit for awhile.
Take care, enjoy your weekend!
The hummers are so nice to have in the summer months and so are the butterflies! I wish I could learn the names of all of them. Enjoy your day! Happy Saturday!
ReplyDeleteThank you Diane!
DeleteSome of the Black in color Swallowtails look so much alike.
Take care, enjoy your weekend!
Your swalllowtails are just wonderful Eileen. Which ever species, they are all beautiful to someone who rarely sees any. And the same goes for hummingbirds - special little creatures. Have a wonderful Saturday and thanks for the link.
ReplyDeleteThank you Phil!
DeleteThe butterflies are all beautiful!

Ms. Hummingbird does the same here. At first I thought the male was chasing her away but after observing it became obvious it is the other way around. Cute bunnies and lovely butterflies too. Happy Day.
ReplyDeleteThank you Gayle!
DeleteThe hummers seem to be aggressive when it comes to their feeders.
Take care, enjoy your weekend!

Our bird population, as well as our butterflies, are down. The birds have nested and moved on, but the butterflies are worrisome! Thanks for hosting, have a great day!

DeleteGood morning, of course I gathered my Saturday post on Saturday so a day late, but here, and your bunnies are adorable. I have a whole bunch of them this year, it's the most amount probably ever, I do hope that most survive, but with the other critters around here it's hard on them. Enjoy your weekend, it's so lovely here this weekend, it's the kind of weather I wish would last for at least another 10 months straight! Ha! Ha! Ha! Winter wouldn't agree!
ReplyDeleteThank you Karen! I do enjoy watching my bunnies. I am glad you are having great weather, we have a sunny day today too. Have a great day and a happy new week ahead.
