Welcome to Saturday's Critters!
Hello and happy Saturday!
1. The following images are all from the Indian River Inlet in Delaware, not far from the Maryland line. Click on photos for larger viewing.
2. The Red-throated Loon is similar to the Common Loon but has white in front of their eyes.
3. The Long-tailed Ducks are beautiful.
4. Double-crested Cormorants, I was told there was a Great Cormorant hanging out on this tower too.
5. Female Common Eider with one adult male. The adult male also has the long nose but is white on the back.
6. Common Eider, male and females. Possible Red-throated Loon second on the right side of the photo.
7. Sanderlings on the jetty.
8. Loons and Long-tailed Ducks.
9. Various images from the Indian River Inlet, Delaware.
Our grandson Wyatt is just over a month old. He is growing quickly and is doing well. He is loved and so adorable.
Below the top photo is of our son and our dog Daisy, Daisy was a guardian over our son Brian. Bottom photo is our son's dog Nibbles watching over Wyatt.

What a cute baby picture with the dog looking on! Nice birds, too. We haven't seen a lot of birds so my critters are from Ireland a few years ago.

Can't believe I'm your first comment...because I'm up late this evening of Equinox, first day of spring. Loved seeing your birds, as always...and what a great pair of photos of son and guardian dog, then grandson with his own guardian dog. They are precious.

Hello Eileen,
ReplyDeleteSo many beautiful photos of the birds. The Sanderlings looks very pretty. Very nice to see the photos of your dogs who watch over your son and your grandson. Animals do care for us! I have experienced it too with a cat when my youngest son was a baby.
Have a happy weekend!
Thank you Marit!
DeleteTake care, wishing you a great weekend!
Two photos, years apart, but with love so evident. What a delight to have that photo with your previous one.
ReplyDeleteThank you Nancy!
DeleteI am glad I was able to scan some old photos of my son.

Hello,
ReplyDeletewhat a joy to have Wyatt in the family!
I like the Long-tailed ducks very much. They usually overfly our area and go directly to Lapland.
Have a nice weekend and enjoy your family! Stay well!
Thank you Luisella!
DeleteThe Long-tailed Ducks are beautiful.

Wonderful photos of the birds. I love the Double-crested Cormorants gathered on top of the fixture. Cute photo of your grandson being watched over by Nibbles. Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for hosting.
ReplyDeleteThank you Bill!
DeleteTake care, wishing you a great weekend!
Wonderful psoat Eileen. But it made me really want to go back to the northern part of Norway where there are many Pintals among other birds. Your Indian River seem to be a very good place for birding. And enjoying nature.
ReplyDeleteNice to see the two generations of babies and their guards :)
Take care!
Thank you Monica!
DeleteIt is unusual that we did not see as many winter ducks this year.
Take care, wishing you a great weekend!
Hello Eileen,
ReplyDeleteThe birds are always beautiful and so are yours photos! The Cormorants are great, I like them very much!
Your grandson is a sweetheart! 🥰
I wish you a very happy Spring!

ReplyDeleteThank you Sandra!

Wow! You make me jealous. I have only seen one Long-tailed Duck in my life (and it had a different name back then), never an eider and only one Red-throated Loon. Beautiful grandson! (I feel better now, as I have several of those!)
ReplyDeleteThank you Ken!
DeleteThe Long-tailed Ducks are beautiful.

ReplyDeleteI am rather fond of waterbirds... we get a lot of eider here, but that others I only get to see through the pictures of others - so thank you for sharing yours!!! YAM xx
Thank you Yam!
DeleteI do enjoy seeing these winter ducks whenever I can.
Take care, wishing you a great weekend!
I always enjoy your birds. It's adorable seeing your grandie! You must be bursting! Thanks for hosting. Enjoy the weather! Yay spring!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jenn!
DeleteYes, it is a joyful time. Even though with Covid we are not visiting often.
Take care, wishing you a great weekend!
Now you have me intrigued, Eileen, about the white in front of the eye on Red-throated Loon. I was unaware of this feature. I always look for a bird that is smaller and slimmer than a Common Loon, but the upturned bill is the real giveaway. Your grandson looks like a birder in the making. I expect to see him with binoculars and a field guide soon, and then when COVID is over you will have to bring him up here and we will introduce him to Lily!
ReplyDeleteThank you David!
DeleteI was reading my guide book when I noticed it said to look for more white in front of the Loon's eyes.
Take care, wishing you a great weekend!
MARAVILHA!!! Que amor teu netinho e o cachorrinho ao lado bem atento. ADOREI! Todas as fotos lindas! beijos, feliz primavera! chica

That was a very fruitful trip to Indian River there Eileen. To see so many Long-tailed Ducks together must be quite amazing. I see so few Red-throated Divers these these so it was good to see your photo of that one. Wyatt is a cutie and such a well-behaved Grandson too!

DeleteWinter is a good time to see the Sea ducks, the Long-tailed Ducks are beautiful.
Take care, wishing you a great weekend!
It's lovely to see how dogs understand that a small human needs extra care and to be watched over. Love all the bird photos and that you get out and about, taking bird photos. I also love to see the ocean there's none of that here in our desert mountains. But I grew up on the water and I love to be reminded of it, as well as the life that thrives in and around it.
ReplyDeleteThank you Inger! I like most landscapes, the ocean and beach are always a treat.
DeleteTake care, wishing you a great weekend!
I grew up with a dog that my parents got when I was about 1. He was like a brother to me - no one messed with me!

Dear Eileen, the Red-throated Loon, and Long-tailed duck are so new to me. But Baby Wyatt steals the show, especially with Nibbles guarding him like your dear Daisy did for your son years ago. Thank you for sharing these beautiful images and for hosting this meme. I have linked up - in time, this time! Have a great weekend. Jo

ReplyDeleteThank you for the visit and comment. Dogs are such great family pets, the dogs are devoted to all the family members.

Wonderful birds paradise! Cormorants must have great views from that vantage point. Sanderlings look protected by the big spray by waves. I like walking by the beach looking at wildlife. Time flies; similar scene is repeated between baby and dog beyond time. Have a nice week!

DeleteOur family pets are very loyal, they were/are great dogs.
Take care, enjoy your day! I wish you a happy new week!
Abbey, the black Lab, is very dedicated to my 7 year old grandson and sleeps in his room every night. Those are beautiful photos you have there. Lucky Wyatt! I've only seen a cormorant once and was surprised by its size. The giant version is thought to what may have given rise to mermaid tales by fisherman in my home province, Newfoundland. Shore ducks and birds are an interesting group.
ReplyDeleteHello Jocelyn,
DeleteAbbey is a cutie, I miss my old Labradors. We had a Yellow Lab and kept her son a Chocolate lab. They are great family pets.Take care, enjoy your day! I wish you a happy new week!
Your little sweetie is growing up so quickly. How adorable to be guarded by a pooch. And of course the ducks...perfect.

Hello Eileen, So sorry I'm late in commenting. I have to do blogging in small sessions, or the pain gets worse. Anyway I'm glad to be here and have enjoyed seeing such large flocks of water fowl, which I don't often see. Those Long-tailed ducks are beautiful. Thanks for sharing photos of your grandson, being watched over by Nibbles ( such a great name) so much in store for you, and us. Take care.:=)
ReplyDeleteThank you for the visit and comment.
DeleteTake care and stay well. Nibbles is a sweet dog, she will be watching over our grandson.

I loved seeing baby Wyatt in your photos, Eileen! Grandchildren seem to grow even faster than children so cherish every moment! It is snowing here again today --spring seems far away! I hope all else is well with you as I notice you have been closing comments on your blog--I loved seeing the falls. Have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteHello Pat,
