Welcome to Saturday's Critters!
Hello and happy Saturday!
If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!
I am sharing some of the critters seen in my Prettyboy neighborhood and my back yard. These photos were taken on various days from around July 16th through August 7th.
1. We enjoy seeing the deer walking around our yard, this mama deer and her baby visited our yard often in the morning and again later in the day.
2. Hubby and I are taking our morning walks to the reservoir . The walks lately are early in the morning before the hottest part of the day. The photos below are take on July 16 and July 27th. We saw the Great Blue Heron both days, unknown ducks flying away, a large snapping turtle, a Belted Kingfisher, another Heron and a Carolina Wren.
3. A closer look at the female Belted Kingfisher. She has the rufous belly band unlike the adult male.
4. In my backyard, I am seeing 5-6 Ruby-throated Hummingbirds, a bullfrog hanging out near our little pond, Monarch Butterfly, Clear-wing Hummingbird Moth, Eastern Tiger Swallowtail Butterflies, Eastern Bluebird with insect, waterlily and a rabbit near our pond.
5. The male Eastern Bluebird, caught an insect to take to his babies in the birdhouse.
6. Monarch Butterfly with a Clear-wing Hummingbird Moth.
7. The male Ruby-throated Hummingbird sits close to the feeder.
8. The Bull frog sits on a rock at the little pond.
9. On this day, a Rabbit was sitting close the our little pond.
I hope you enjoyed these photos and the wildlife seen in my backyard and around my neighborhood.
I am also linking up to Anni's blog party found here I'd Rather B Birding Anni always has some beautiful birds to be seen on her blog, check it out!

Between you walks and your garden you see a lot of critters Eileen. I hope the Deer do not too much damage in your garden. Now the Rabbit in your late shot certainly doe not look like Rabbits here but more like a Hare with its long legs tht it is sitting on. Thanks for hosting. stay safe and have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you Margaret!
DeleteThe rabbit's legs did look funny, I think it was due to the way it was sitting.

Dearest Eileen,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your lovely comments in my blog! First I wanted to make all the links quickly and then come back to you with a comment - but you were so quick ;-) The wildlife in your backyard and around your neighborhood is really impressive. I was particularly impressed by the photo of the Monarch Butterfly with the Clear-wing Hummingbird Moth: Two such beautiful and special animals in one photo! The photos of the Eastern Bluebird with the insect are also great, I love Hummingbirds anyway, the Bull frog is a splendid specimen - I've never seen it before - and I didn't know a female Belted Kingfisher either! I see it as some kind of miracle that rabbits come to your pond and the deer mama takes her baby for a walk in your yard. I really enjoyed your post again!
Happy Weekend and all the best

I just can't imagine having deer walking around in my garden. That must be wonderful Eileen. I really like the photo of the Monarch Butterfly with the Clear-wing Hummingbird Moth and of course that bullfrog just makes me smile out loud. The Belted Kingfisher is lovely and so nice to know how male and females differ.
ReplyDeletePlease enjoy the rest of your weekend. And of course thanks for the linky tool.
Thank you Phil!
DeleteI do enjoy seeing the deer walking around the yard, they have eaten a lot of our flowers though.

the deer are so beautiful when they have their "redish" coat, i always enjoy seeing them!! so special to capture the monarch with it's wings wide open with a hummingbird moth right there!! my flowers have been overcome with monarchs and suddenly this week, they have disappeared. is it migration time already??
ReplyDeleteseems you were "busted" by the bullfrog and the rabbit...this is an awesome post!!
have a wonderful weekend eileen, many thanks for bringing us all together for yet another week!!
Thank you Debbie!
DeleteI was lucky to catch the Monarch and Hummingbird Moth together in the one photo.
They seem to come and go here, maybe the Monarchs are migrating now.

DeleteWe are lucky to see the deer so close.
Take care, have a happy weekend!
Many times when going to sleep at night, I recount the views I've had of nature that day. Sometimes it's just the grass along the sidewalk, or trees and mountains in the distance. But if I'm astute in observations, there will be birds singing for me.
ReplyDeleteThank you Barbara!
DeleteI love to hear the birds singing, such a peaceful sound.
Take care, enjoy your weekend!
Wunderbar, welche Vielfalt an Tieren in deinem Garten zu finden ist.
ReplyDeleteDas ist eine sehr schöne Fotoserie.

Hi Eileen
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing the kingfisher bird in your photos! It is so exotic. I have been seeing many deer this summer as they like to lie in the shade of my side yard or under my pine trees. It has been over 90 degrees here almost all summer and I am looking forward to autumn's cooler weather.
Thank you Pat!
DeleteI have enjoyed seeing your deer too, they are so pretty.
Have a great weekend!
The snapping turtle almost looks like a croc...
ReplyDeleteHello Lydia,
DeleteThank you for linking up and for the comment!

You have so much life happening around you. It's beautiful. I love the photo of the female Belted Kingfisher. The front colours are so pretty. The Ruby-throated Hummingbird's neck looks like it's made of amber. Thanks so much for sharing.
ReplyDelete-Soma

DeleteThe male hummmer's neck is beautiful, they look like jewels.
Have a happy weekend!
The deer so very cute...and the birds all awesome and great captures of each, and I am really digging the bull frog...I don't see them in my yard, just a few toads and tree frogs so that is a treat. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. TC
ReplyDeleteThanks Sandra! The frog is cool, I hear them in our yard all the time. They like our little pond.
DeleteTake care, enjoy your day! Have a great new week!
It is so cool to be able to watch the doe with her fawn. Our fawn is getting pretty big now and starting to lose her spots.
ReplyDeleteLove the frog!
Thanks Karen! The spotted fawns are so cute, they have been missing the last few days.
DeleteTake care, enjoy your day! Have a great new week!

Eileen - the hummers are not eating as much; I think a few have already moved south. Love the kingfisher - I have not seen one all summer. And I am not a big fan of bunnies, but I can be happy to see it in your yard!
ReplyDeleteThanks Angie! I can usually hear or see the Kingfisher during our morning walks.
DeleteThe critters do enjoy our yard, we lost many flowers this summer.
Take care, enjoy your day! Have a great new week!
Linking in this week, and sharing is much appreciated. Thanks, and happy birding!
ReplyDelete~Anni @ I'd Rather B Birdin'
Loved seeing the kingfisher!! And, I must add you're so talented with your blogging collages and tales of your trips!!
Thank you Anni!
DeleteHave a great new week!
Good morning Eileen, beautiful captures, and while I don't see as many deer as you, our peacock is still here, so far. I'm wondering though I have a flower bed that this time of year the monarch butterflies hover in large groups around it, and well this year not so much. Maybe the peacock delights in snapping up a few? Enjoy your week and hopefully you aren't experiencing too many storms your way, as some folks are. Take care.
ReplyDeleteThank you Karen! It is cool you still have the peacock visiting.
DeleteI have seen a few Monarchs, but I usually do not see that many here.
Have a great day and a happy new week!
The bird catching the insect made me want to take out my real, as opposed to my phone, camera and dust it off. You are an inspiration and that was a magnificent capture of a nature moment.
ReplyDeleteThank you Inger!
DeleteHave a happy day and a great new week!
