Saturday's Critters # 425

 Welcome to Saturday's Critters!

Hello and happy Saturday!

If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

These images are from my archives, from when we lived in Florida from Oct 2016-March 2017. During this time hubby and I visited many Florida parks and were able to see many different species of wild birds. The Burrowing Owls seen in Cape Coral Florida was one of my favorite bird sightings. I love owls.

1. This Burrowing Owl looking serious or giving me the evil eye. I was not close to any of the birds, my camera has good zoom.

2. Burrowing Owls spend most of their time on the ground, the burrows where they roost and nest are just holes in the ground are located in open habitat.

3.  The Burrowing Owls of Cape Coral Florida must be used to people and dogs, their nests are close to a neighborhood ball field.

4. Peeping out of the burrow, a cute Burrowing Owl.

5. Two Burrowing Owls are watching something.

6. The Burrowing Owl is so cute, one of my many favorite birds.

Thank you for sharing your critters and post!

Thanks to all my visitors and for your past and present comments. Stop back to see any replies to your comments. I appreciate everyone who loves and respects all wildlife. Thank you for linking up a critter post.

Here is my linky:

I am also linking up to Anni's blog party found here I'd Rather B Birding   Anni always has some beautiful birds to be seen on her blog, check it out!

Take care, enjoy your day! Have a happy weekend!

Some very nice photos. How exciting to actually see them in person. I'm surprised they have accustomed themselves to people that close.

Yes, the Burrowing Owl is so cute. I learned something new today about Burrowing Owls have their nests in the ground. Yes, I can see why you said that the owl gave you the evil eye in the first picture. Lol! Thank you, Eileen for hosting. Happy weekend.

Those owls are very cute. Around here it's very difficult to see them.
When I was a kid some owls came to visit our garden but now they are disappeared!

Long time since I saw Burrowing Owls, but they are very appealing. If I get lucky today I have my fingers crossed for a Saw-whet Owl.

Your North American Burrowing Owl is very much like our Little Owl except that the burrowing requires longer legs. Enjoy your weekend and thanks for the link Eileen.

I love owls, too, but Burrowing Owl is new to me. They are so lovely. Now I understand why they are called Burrowing Owl in English from the image of the one nesting in the burrow. It looks like in meditation.

Haha … that is a curious look the bird is giving you. This type of owl is rarely seen in my neck of the woods. Apparently with their relatively long legs, they are quite the runners as well as flyers. How wonderful to have both abilities! :)

I don't think I have ever seen a live burrowing owl. How amazing that they live in holes out in such an open and exposed environment. I just think about all the various kinds of animals there are and how they have adapted in such amazing ways to find shelter. They have such a striking appearance.
Thank you for hosting!!

I saw these owls (cousins probably) in Riverview FL (near Tampa) a few years back. They do like sandy soil! And they nested right next to a road/sidewalk and playground area. Didn't seem to bother them, so we got to see them!

Mae Travels said...

The burrowing owls in Cape Coral are also some of my favorite birding choices. We saw them at around the same time you did. I would love to go back.

Thanks for all the comments you have left on my blog posts!

I love the evil eye you got from that owl. Years ago, my boyfreind at the time and I used to venture out into the woods at dusk to watch the owls hunt. It was very special, interesting and unforgettable.

Oh, how lovely, dear Eileen! I didn't know there were owls that nest in burrows on the ground! So far I've only known owls that nest in trees... Your owl photos are all wonderful!

Very cute burrowing owl! Wasn't there a kid's movie made about one where the kids were trying to stop a development to save it? Can't recall the title but seems like that was the type of owl. Hope you are having a wonderful weekend so far!

I really love the Burrowing Owls! I've been watching an "Owl Cam" in Georgia of a Horned Owl that's sitting on an egg. I'm not sure when it's due to hatch, but it's fun to check in on her, and there are also a few other bird-cams too that I have enjoyed peaking in as well.

I hope you have a good week - Warmer temps for us, which is a welcome change!
